Raghu Ram reveals the reason behind quitting Roadies

Raghu Ram who has been the face of the youth-based reality show Roadies, ever since its inception has decided not to be a part of the show anymore. His decision to quit Roadies had shocked many.

Earlier in interviews, Raghu had mentioned having no hard feelings between the channel and him but in his autobiography, he mentioned in detail about what happened in detail.

In his autobiography, Rearview: My Roadies Journey, Raghu opened up about a channel executive named Ashish, who refused to allow him to work for a different channel. Raghu mentioned that he was only paid as an employee of the channel and not for his appearance in the show.

In an interview, Raghu talked about his meeting with Ashish and shared, “I told him I never got paid for appearing on Roadies, anyway (I was only paid as an employee of the channel), and that I had equity outside that I wanted to monetize. It was not in the same space as Roadies, so there was no conflict of interest. Furthermore, we were only going to shoot on weekends when the channel was shut, so I would not be taking any time away from my work. I could see no problem with this arrangement. Ashish heard me out, then said, ‘No, bro, this doesn’t work for the channel.’ I was very hurt, but all I said was, ‘Well, bro, in that case, the channel doesn’t work for me.’”

Raghu then submitted his resignation, which was not accepted. Instead, he was presented with a new contract in 2009 that said he won’t be able to work outside and won’t be able to quit the channel. After much reluctance, he did accept it and realized he was getting sidelined. It was then he finally chose to quit. He was even threatened to be taken to court, however, he quit the show anyways.

FOr the unversed, Raghu has been a part of Roadies since its inception in 2003. The show was created by him, his twin brother Rajiv Lakshman and RJ Amit. They also left the show in 2014.

The upcoming season of Roadies will witness Sonu Sood as host while Prince Narula, Rhea Chakraborty, and Gautam Gulati will be the gang leaders.
