Sudhanshu Pandey’s unexpected exit from the popular TV show Anupamaa has become a hot topic in the entertainment industry. Since the show’s inception, Pandey, who portrayed the character Vanraj Shah, has been a central figure in the storyline. Recently, Paras Kalnawat, who left Anupamaa to participate in a reality show, shared his thoughts on Pandey’s departure and more during an interview.
In a conversation with TellyChakkar, Paras Kalnawat spoke highly of Sudhanshu Pandey, addressing the controversy surrounding his abrupt exit from Anupamaa. Paras stated, “Dekhiye unke exit pe mujhe dukh nahi hua. Kyuki he deserves much better. And I believe he is a wonderful human being, jis tareeke ke woh insaan hai or artist hai, woh bahot hi acha deserve karte hai in life. Meri unse iss baare mey baat hui hai messages pe.” (I wasn’t disappointed with his exit from the show. Because the kind of human being and actor that he is, he deserves the best. I had a word with him through messages on the same.)
Paras went on to express that he shared a strong bond with Sudhanshu Pandey on the sets of Anupamaa. He also mentioned that he never encountered any issues with the production or direction team during his time on the show.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Paras Kalnawat revealed that he has learned to avoid getting involved in controversies that do not directly concern him. He admitted that, in the past, he lacked this self-restraint, which often led to unnecessary drama.
Paras himself was embroiled in a significant controversy when he signed a contract for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 on a competing channel. This decision did not sit well with the producers of Anupamaa, leading to his immediate termination. The situation escalated when the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi, whom Paras regarded as a father figure, released an official statement regarding his exit. Paras openly expressed his disappointment with this public announcement and acknowledged having had a conflict with Anupamaa’s lead actress, Rupali Ganguly.
In one of his more pointed remarks, Paras claimed that nearly 80% of the show’s cast wanted to leave but felt unable to do so. Following his departure, actor Sagar Parekh was brought in to play the role of Samar Shah, a character previously portrayed by Paras. Although audiences initially struggled to accept Sagar in the role, the character was eventually written off the show.
As rumors of Sudhanshu Pandey’s exit spread, reports surfaced that Dill Mill Gayye actor Pankit Thakker might replace him. Some media outlets even claimed that Thakker had participated in mock shoots and look tests for the role. However, in a chat, Pankit Thakker denied these rumors, stating, “Hi, this is just to clarify I won’t be joining the cast of Anupamaa. Appreciate your understanding!”
Sudhanshu Pandey’s departure from Anupamaa marks the end of an era for the show, leaving fans and fellow actors alike reflecting on his impactful journey as Vanraj Shah.
