Actress Pankhuri Awasthy who is all set to essay the role of Kaju in the upcoming show Gud Se Meetha Ishq is super excited to play the character of a tour guide. The actress talked about her role in a recent interview with BT.
She shared, “I will be traveling to Uttarakhand to start my shoot from March 9. I love adventure activities, so as and when I get time there, I will indulge in it.”
Talking about her character in the show, she said, “I play the role of Kaju, who is a tourist guide in Uttarakhand. Now in that place, the number of female tourist guides are few and she is trying to break the glass ceiling in the male-dominated industry. The way she is going to do that and the challenges she will face is fascinating.”
She added, “The role and the character should instantly hit me. There has to be something that I can explore. Looking at the roles I have done so far, every character, big or small, had its own journey on the show. Be it Amala in Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka who fights for her rights after being a victim of brutal gang rape or Draupadi in Suryaputra Karn, who goes through her fair share of ups and downs. All these roles connect with the society we live in,” she says.
Pankhuri also shared that she always takes advice from her near and dear ones before taking up a role. “I ask my family but since they have no connection with the entertainment industry, they say that they are happy to see me on screen. On the other hand, my husband Gautam (Rode) gives me a lot of practical and professional suggestions,” she concluded.
