A promise
Usha comes home and finds Virat seated on the floor outside Sai’s room. She enquires “Virat ji you here?” Virat on seeing Usha wipes his tears and gets up quickly. He tells her, “Maushi, I came to meet Sai.” Usha realizing that Virat was disturbed due to something asks him, “What happened Virat ji that Sai took such a drastic step to leave Chavan Nivas without her children and come here all by herself?” Virat gets thinking, he remembers all that happened between him and Sai the previous night and stays silent. Usha sensing the ambiguity in his silence tells him, “Whatever is the reason for Sai to come here Virat ji….Knowing Sai well, I don’t think that she will ever return to Chavan Nivas.” Virat was disheartened on hearing that. He starts taking slow steps towards the door and goes out. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein sad tone plays in the background.
Inside the room, Sai senses Virat making his exit from her house and feels relieved. Outside, Virat sadly goes towards his car lost in thoughts while Sai consciously leaps near the window and gazes at him. Virat senses Sai’s presence and looks towards the window. Sai swiftly moves away before Virat’s eyes could fall on her. Virat on not seeing Sai near the window feels dejected gets into the car and leaves. After Virat leaves, Sai cries and says, “Our relation was broken long ago Virat and whatever happened between us yesterday was a mistake so it will be better if we stay away from each other and do not let the memories of that mistake affect our personal lives.” Shortly, she recalls seeing Virat’s wedding ring that morning and sadly says, “Because now you are someone else’s husband.” Just then Usha knocks on the door; Sai opens the door for her. Usha comes inside and gives her food. Sai calmly accepts it and starts eating. Usha sits beside and asks her, “Sai I know that something wrong happened between you and Virat ji which made you take this decision.” Sai stops munching for a while and remembers her passionate moment with Virat. Usha perceives her disturbed state and continues, “But what about your kids Sai? Aren’t they too young? How can they stay without their Aai?” Sai take a portion of roti, dips it in daal and munches it saying, “Vinu and Savi are my kids Maushi. They are strong enough and will manage to live without their Aai. Also, they have their whole family to take care of them.”
Chavan Nivas
Patralekha tries to feed Vinayak but he refuses to have anything until he meets his Aai while Savi is sitting and crying in Bhavani’s lap. Savi asks Bhavani, “Badi Aaji why did Aai leave us and go?” Bhavani tries to console Savi saying, “Savi, Baba has gone to talk to Aai right? Don’t worry he will surely bring back your Aai.” Just then Virat enters heartbroken. The children run towards him on seeing him. As Vinayak and Savi come near him, they excitedly ask, “Baba where is Aai?” He disappointedly stared at them. Vinayak says, “Savi, I think Aai is in the car. Come let’s go and bring her.” They delightfully ran outside. After Vinayak and Savi went out, the family members looked expectantly at Virat. He shook his head in denial. The family members except for Pakhi were anguished. Virat swiftly went to his room without uttering a word to any of them. The family members broke down on realizing that Sai had not returned. Vinayak and Savi come inside and disappointedly tell Bhavani, “Badi Aaji, Aai is not in the car.” Bhavani hugs them and cries bitterly.
In Virat and Pakhi’s bedroom
Virat goes inside the bathroom, undresses himself and then stands under the shower. Parallely, Sai is shown inside her washroom near the sink. They both start recalling their moments of love. Virat opens the shower while Sai opens the tap and starts throwing water onto her face. Dil ka rishta ek din toot hi jata hain…kasak zindagi mein woh chod hi jaata hai…reh jaati hai bas kuch unki yaadein…aur bach jaate hai adhure se vaade…ankhon mein sabke bhari nami hai…toote kanch si bikri zindagi hai…plays in the background as they remembered their liplock, how they played with the rain and finally how they made love. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein…ooo… Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein plays in the background. Both Virat and Sai cried painfully overcome with guilt over what had happened between them.
When Virat comes outside after taking the shower, he sees Vinayak and Savi waiting anxiously for him. They both catch their ears and apologize. Virat remembers how Sai had apologized the same way the previous day when the cotton candy fell from her hand. He catches his kids, pulls down their hands from their ears and asks them, “What are you apologizing for?” Vinayak, “We are sorry Baba. It was because of our prank that you and Aai fought and Aai left our house.” Virat tells them, “No it is nothing like that Baada. Me and your Aai we did not have any fight.” Just then Pakhi comes there, she listens to Virat’s conversation with the kids. Savi asks, “Then why did Aai leave our house, Baba?” Virat remembers about his weak moment with Sai. He says, “Baada, there are certain things which happen between elders which children can’t understand and this is something like that.” Pakhi looks on and wonders, “What happened between Virat and Sai that he can’t reveal to the kids?” Vinayak sobbingly asks, “So that means Aai will never return to our house?” Virat, “Do say like that Baada. Your Aai will surely return to our house.” Savi, “Will you bring back Aai?” Virat keeps his hand on Savi and Vinayak’s hands and says, “I PROMISE you both that I will bring back your Aai to our house.” He then hugs his kids sadly while Pakhi looks at him from behind and reflects, “No matter whatever you try Virat, I will not allow you to bring back Sai to this house.”
