In you I lived, in you I die

Surgesh Hospital, Satya’s cabin

Virat quickly gets up from Satya’s cabin and runs out from the hospital. Satya was confused.

Nagpur Police Station

Virat puts all his staff at work to trace his babies. Sai is also present there tensed and in tears. As all were fervently trying to trace the babies, one of the staff finally gets a lead and gives Virat the information that the child traffickers have been traced near Sitabardi Fort. Virat quickly gets up to leave along with his team when Sai stops him saying that she will come along. Virat is skeptical about it as there were risks involved, however when Sai persistently insists he gives in.

Sitabardi Fort

Virat and his team along with Sai reach the place which they had traced. Sai is about to step out along with the operation team when Virat stops her saying that it wouldn’t be safe for her to come along with the team. Sai cries, “Virat our babies!!” Virat keeps his hand on hers and assures, “I promise you Sai that I will bring them back safely.” Sai nods. Virat takes out his gun and starts searching the place with his team. Soon a cry of a baby was heard from a wilderness. Virat, his team and Sai get alerted. They go near the place from where the cry was heard. Sai comes out of the jeep and looked at the operation anxiously. The police surround the area and announce. You have been entrapped from all sides by the police force. There is no way out for escape. Within a few minutes, two men slowly come out holding the babies. Virat tells them, “Surrender yourself and give me my babies.” One of the men says, “Let us go or I will throw this baby.” The babies cry. The whole team gets apprehensive. Sai cries out, “Virat save both our babies!!!” Virat to the man, “Don’t even think of that!! Those are my babies. I will shoot you if anything happens to any of them.” The man says, “I am giving you one last warning. Let us go or else I will fling this baby.” Virat draws closer to the man. The man throws the baby. Virat shoots the man on the head and jumps to catch his baby. The man falls dead and Virat successfully catches his baby in his arms. The other man tries to run with the other baby but before he could, he is shot on the leg by Virat. The man falls down with the baby in his hand. Sai runs forward, hits the man and gets her baby from him. The other policemen come and arrest the man. Virat gets up, hands over the baby to Sai and slaps the man left and right asking, “You will kidnap my babies? You will kidnap my babies?” After slapping the man black and blue, Virat asks his subordinates to take the man away and turned around to look at Sai and his children. Sai smilingly looked at her crying babies and said, “Sshhh…sshhh…Don’t cry!!! Look Aai has come. I’m sorry I left you for sometime but I promise I will never leave you once again.” Virat comes and dotingly hugged Sai and his children. As the man was taken away he shouts, “You have put your foot on a snake’s den DCP Virat Chavan. The man you killed is Ajinkya Gaikwad’s brother, Abhay Gaikwad. Ajinkya Bhau will not spare you.” Virat counter challenged him saying, “I’m not scared to face any Gaikwad.” The policemen drag the man. After the man is taken away, Virat affectionately smiled at Sai, the latter reciprocates. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein romantic tune plays in the background.

Chavan Nivas

Sai and Virat return home where their family members along with Satya were eagerly waiting for them. As they enter Bhavani asks them, “Are both the babies fine? We were so worried for them.” Savi and Vinayak come running to Sai and ask her if their little brother and sister are fine. Virat and Sai assures both the babies are absolutely fine and narrate to them what all had happened. The family members apprehensively listen to them. Ashwini puts forth, “All this is happening because we have not conducted even one puja ever since they were born. Leave about puja we have not yet conducted their naamkaran ceremony although they are eight months old now.” Bhavani, “Ashwini is right. Usually naamkaran ceremony is conducted within a month of birth. Here they are eight months old and we have not yet given them names. How long will we call them baby…baby?” Sai, “My children will be named only by their Baba.” The family members desirously looked at Virat. Pakhi felt disquieted. Virat informs his family, “My kids’ naamkaran will be held tomorrow.” Everyone except for Pakhi feel delighted on hearing that. Ninad asks him, “Well have you thought of any names?” Virat looks at Sai. Flashback, Sai who was fully pregnant with her tummy protruding out is seated on the bed with her back against the wall. Virat is lying on the bed with his head resting on Sai’s lap and talking to his babies. Just then the babies kick. Virat gets up and exclaims, “I think we are going to have twin boys. Both of them seem to be practicing football inside.” Sai, “Why are you talking like a s*xist? Why can’t it be twin girls? Even girls play football.” Virat, “Wait a minute, leave about s*xism. Remember what Vinu and Savi wants.” Sai, “They want a brother and a sister.” Virat, “So we should be having both a son and a daughter.” Sai, “Like Vinu and Savi they will be best-friends who will always support each other.” Virat, “Yes, but how should we call them?” Sai reflects for a while and says, “For our son, we should give him a name starting with Vi like Vinayak and for our daughter, we should name her with a name starting with Sa like Savi.” Virat smilingly, “Okay but what names should we give them.” Sai thinks for a while, goes near Virat’s ears and whispers two names into his ears. Virat smiles hearing them. Flashback ends. Virat tells Ninad, “Now that is a suspense Baba which cannot be revealed. Wait until tomorrow to know what their names are going to be.” Everyone smiles. Pakhi angrily looked on. Shortly, everyone gets busy preparing for the Naamkaran ceremony. Virat sees Satya, goes to him and asks him, “You here?” Satya, “I got worried seeing you run breathlessly from my cabin and wanted to know what was happening so came here to check out.” Virat nods and invites him for the Naamkaran ceremony. Satya happily accepts. Virat then turns around to leave when Satya tells him from behind, “I saw you fighting with those men for your kids on TV and from that I understood how important Sai and the kids are in your life. Do you still want them to be taken away from you?” Virat was taken aback. The very thought of Sai and the kids taken from him made him feel edgy. He stared at Sai in front of him who had kept her babies safely into a cradle and was playing with them along with Vinayak and Savi. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein dramatic tune plays in the background. Satya understood the anticipatory feelings of Virat and tells him, “Okay I give you one day time. Tomorrow by Naamkaran ceremony you should have decided whether you want to be separated from them or not.” After saying that, Satya leaves. Virat kept looking at a cheerful Sai and his children from a distance.

Next day

All were busy completing the preparations for Naamkaran ceremony. Virat comes there and smiles seeing all the arrangements. He looked around for Sai and the kids but they were nowhere to be found. As his eyes constantly searched for Sai and his kids, Pakhi comes there, stands beside him and tells him, “I know yesterday was a tough day for you but I hope that you are not going to fall weak for your emotions and break your promise to me.” Virat glowered at her. Just then Sai comes there with her kids. Virat was mesmerized to see Sai’s beauty. Sai comes to the stage where the cradles were kept for the Naamkaran ceremony and places her babies in them one after the other. Satya too arrives there and stands among the family members. After Sai sits in the place for the mother. The priest tells her to call the father of the kids. Everyone looked uneasily at each other. Satya looked on and wondered if Virat would choose his family this time. When the priest asks for the kids’ father again, Virat is about to go but Pakhi stops him saying, “No Virat you can’t break your promise to me.” Virat stopped for a minute and looked at Sai and kids. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein dramatic tune plays in the background. Then he closes his eyes, takes a deep long breath, goes forward and sits next to Sai. All were elated by Virat’s action. Satya smiles thinking, “So DCP sahab has finally chosen his family.” Virat tells the priest, “So Panditji I’m their father” Then he catches Sai’s hand and says, “And this is my family whom I will not leave ever.” Sai emotionally looked at Virat with tears in her eyes. Pakhi was exasperated while everyone else smiled in delight seeing Virat’s change in demanour towards Sai. The Panditji tells them, “Usually it is the child’s aadhya (boa, paternal aunt) who names a baby.” Virat tells him that his sister is not present. The Panditji, “If the aadhya is not present then the child’s aai names the baby.” Sai, “No Panditji this time the kids’ baba will name them.” Virat lovingly looked at Sai and then goes forward to take both the babies in his arms. All were surprised to see Virat break his promise to Pakhi. Pakhi was in tears. Virat remembers what Sai had told him the other day, Flashback, Sai in Virat’s ears tells him, “We will name our son Viren and our daughter Saira.” Flashback ends. Virat with the babies in his arms, gazing at Sai announces “My son’s name will be Viren and my daughter’s name Saira.” Everyone clap and cheer on hearing Virat’s announcement. Bhavani says, “That’s nice. Vinu and Savi’s younger brother and sister. Viren and Saira.” Virat smilingly looked at Sai who reciprocates with love for having chosen the names that she had suggested.

Night time

Sai is putting Vinayak and Savi to sleep while Viren and Saira are fast asleep in their cradle. Vinayak and Savi too doze off and Sai is about to sleep when Viren and Saira start crying. Sai is about to get up and attend to them but before that Virat comes there and starts rocking their cradle. Sai was surprised as Virat had never come to her room or near her children ever since he had made the promise to Pakhi. Virat keeps rocking the cradle and making them sleep. Sai slowly lies down facing towards Vinayak and Savi. After Viren and Saira fall asleep, Virat lies down with his face towards Sai’s back. He then gradually comes closer to her and wraps his hand around Sai’s hand. Sai shakes it off. He again puts it around Sai and this time catches her hand tightly. He tells her, “I’m sorry Sai I was blinded by my promise that I couldn’t break free of it and take my children in my arms nor come near you.” Sai, “So now why have you come to us?” Virat hugging her tightly, “Because now I understood how much more important you and my children are in my life than any promise. I can’t stay away from you or my children Sai.” Sai in tears turns around and hugs him tightly. She says, “You know how much we missed you Virat. How could you even think of making such a promise?” Virat, “I was overcome with guilt Sai. I felt I had wronged Pakhi and to rectify my mistake to her, I did wrong to you and my children. I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” Sai, “It has become your habit to make mistakes and then ask for forgiveness.” Virat, “But isn’t that how life revolves around two life partners Sai? If one makes mistakes then the other corrects them and forgives them. So won’t you forgive me Sai?” Sai, “I will forgive you on one condition.” Virat asks, “What is it?” Sai, “Promise me that you will never leave me and my children again.” Virat leans forward, kisses on her forehead and says, “I promise I will never leave you and my children. But in future, if I have to ever break this promise then promise me that you will show me the right path.” Sai nods. They then cuddle in each other’s arms and fall asleep.

Pakhi’s room

Pakhi throws the things and cries, “How can Virat break his promise to me? How can he?” Just then Bhavani comes there sees her throwing things and asks, “Mast-a mast, what happened Patralekha? You seem to be unhappy about something?” Pakhi frowns at her. Bhavani smirks and says, “I know why you are disappointed and I should say that now you must have learnt your lesson that no matter how much you try, Virat will never be yours.” Pakhi glowered at her. Bhavani continues, “So better reform yourself now Patralekha.” On saying that Bhavani leaves from there. Pakhi angrily looked on.

Next day morning

Virat wakes up hearing the giggles of Viren and Saira. He sees that Sai is peacefully sleeping on his left arm with her hair on her face. He smiles and adjusts her hair from her face to the side of her ear. He then slowly removes her head from his arm and is about to get up when Sai catches his hand and sleeps on it. Virat smiles seeing it and leans forward to plant two kisses on her cheeks and continues to watch her sleep on his hand. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein romantic tune plays in the background. Afterwards, he gradually detaches his hand from Sai’s clutches, keeps a pillow under her head, gets up and goes to the cradles to play with Viren and Saira. Just then his phone rings, he quickly picks it up so that it does disturb Sai and the children. It was the Commissioner on the other side. The Commissioner tells him that six of their innocent policemen are held hostages by Ajinkya Gaikwad and his men. Virat asks, “Ajinkya Gaikwad?” The Commissioner of Police, “The man whose brother you had shot dead a few days back.” Virat remembers shooting the man who had kidnapped Viren and Saira and tells the commissioner that the man had tried to kill his children. The Commissioner tells him, “Whatever be the reason. Now Ajinkya Gaikwad wants to meet you and for that he has held six of our innocent policemen as captives challenging our whole department.” Virat boldly, “I’m ready to face him all alone Sir.” The Commissioner, “Are you sure? Ajinkya Gaikwad is one of the most vicious wanted criminals of our department. Meeting him unaccompanied by the police force may cost your life.” Virat, “Right now saving the lives of those innocent six policemen is more important than my life Sir.” The Commissioner, “All the best DCP Virat Chavan. I will send you the details of the venue shortly.” The Commissioner hangs up. Virat turns around and looks at his family. He watches his giggling babies, Viren and Saira and smiles sadly at them. Then he turns towards a sleeping Vinayak and Savi and remembers his happy moments with them and finally he looks towards Sai. His heart thumped fast as he remembered the promise he made to her the previous night and was heartbroken realizing that he was already breaking it. He goes near her and is about to embrace her but he stops himself remembering his duty. He wipes his tears and quickly goes to change into his uniform. Later, Virat is seen all dressed up in police uniform adjusting his belt in front of the mirror on the dressing table. At the same time, he receives a message from the police commissioner informing about the venue of Ajinkya Gaikwad. He reads the message and unknowingly keeps his phone back on the the dressing table to turn towards his family who are all fast asleep. He watches them, takes a deep long breath, puts on his cap and leaves. Sai and the children do not realize that Virat had left.

A few minutes later, Sai wakes up with a smile. She turns around to see Vinayak and Savi and bend down to kiss them. Next she turns around and looks for Virat but he was not there. She wonders, “Where has Virat gone this early in the morning?” Just then Virat’s phone beeps on the dressing table. It was a voice note from the Commissioner. Sai gets up and goes to check the message but before she could Viren from his cradle catches her hand. Sai pats him and tries to free her hand from his clutches. But he held it more tightly as if he did not want her to go. Finally, Sai manages to free her hand from him and goes to check the message on Virat’s phone. She opens the voice note and hears it which said, “Virat Chavan you are going on a life-threatening mission to save the lives of six innocent policemen. The whole department is proud of your valour.” Sai was shocked to hear that. She asks, “Virat is on a life-threatening mission?” She checks the other messages on his phone, sees the venue details and quickly leaves from there.

Gopalgad Fort, Guhagar

Virat reaches the fort, takes out his gun and slowly goes inside. He calls out, “Ajinkya Gaikwad where are you? Here I am DCP Virat Chavan and I have come all alone.” At that moment, he hears a gunshot. He turns around to see a bearded, shabby looking man in front of him. Behind him were 6 policemen held captives by his men. The man, “Hello DCP Sahab, I appreciate your bravery. You have come here all alone? Three cheers to you!! By the way do you know me? I’m Ajinkya Gaikwad brother of Abhay Gaikwad the man whom you killed mercilessly.” Virat looks pitifully at the policemen held by Ajinkya and says, “Ajinkya you wanted me and I have come. Leave those innocent policemen whom you have held captive because of me.” Ajinkya laughs and says, “Leave them? So that they help you out to fight me? I’m not going to do any such foolery.” Virat tries to trick him saying, “Ajinkya if you are a brave man then fight me all by yourself. I will stand in front of you all alone. Keeping those men captives shows how much of a coward you are.” Ajinkya comes into Virat’s words. His men try to warn him saying, “Bhau don’t come into his words, he is trying to trick you.” However Ajinkya in his pride does not listen to them and asks them to release the six policemen. The six policemen are released. They come and thank Virat, who motions them to leave. They reluctantly leave. After they leave, Ajinkya stares at Virat craftily and says, “So you are true to your word? You have sent the other policemen and are ready to fight me all alone? Fine then let’s start.” Ajinkya removes his shirt, comes forward and calls Virat. Virat goes forward and they begin the fight. The fight ensues.

Sai reaches there and sees some policemen coming down. She asks them, “Where is DCP Virat Chavan?” The policemen tell her all about Virat’s challenge to Ajinkya and how he saved them by putting forth the condition that he would fight Ajinkya all alone. Sai is shocked to hear that and runs inside without listening to the policemen warning her, “Madam don’t go there!! There is danger inside.” Inside as Ajinkya and Virat fight, Ajinkya manages to overpower Virat by hitting him on the head. Virat falls down partially unconscious. Ajinkya laughs and provokes him asking, “So is that all the strength and bravery of DCP Virat Chavan?” Virat tries to get up but is unable to. Just then Sai reaches there and calls out, “Virat!!!” Ajinkya sees her and says, “I had only asked for Virat Chavan but seems like he has brought his wife too.” Sai runs to come towards Virat when Ajinkya aims his gun at her. Seeing Ajinkya aim his gun at Sai, Virat instantly gets up and catches his neck. Ajinkya’s chokes. Ajinkya’s henchmen try to free him from Virat’s clutches but Virat hits and kicks them away. Sai takes a stick and beats those men. The men run away. Virat continues to choke Ajinkya until he is breathless. Finally, Ajinkya loses his breath and falls down. Virat and Sai heave a sigh of relief. Virat turns towards Sai who smilingly comes and hugs him. As they were lost in each other’s arms. Ajinkya gets up and points his rifle towards Sai. Virat sees it and rotates Sai to the other side so the first few bullets hit Virat’s back. Sai then rotates Virat to the other side which makes the next few bullets hit her back. They keep rotating trying to save the other which makes both of them take bullets. Finally Sai takes out the gun from Virat’s gun socket and shoots Ajinkya killing him. However, both Virat and Sai were also mortally wounded by the bullets which were shot by Ajinkya. Virat falls first, Sai tries to catch him and sits down with Virat in her lap. Virat in pain asks her, “Who asked you to come here?” Sai, “I came here because you had broken your promise.” Virat, “And because of your stubbornness, you got wounded along with me.” Sai, “I promised you that I will show you the right path and for that I had to come where you are going be it even to death.” Virat looks emotionally at Sai. He reminisces the beautiful moments he spent with her, touches her face and asks her, “Sai what will happen to our children after our death.” Sai, “Don’t worry Virat Chavan, they have their whole family with them who will take care of them.” Virat, “I feel bad that I couldn’t spend enough time with Viren and Saira.” Sai, “Don’t worry they will still have you in their hearts as they grow up.” Virat who had become completely weak by now tells Sai, “Sai thanks a lot for coming to my life. Thanks a lot for walking with me all throughout my life’s journey…” And slowly closing his eyes he says, “Thanks a lot for accompanying me to my death” Virat breathes his last on saying that. Sai kisses his forehead rests her head on his head and breathes her last. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein dramatic tune plays in the background.

Sai and Virat’s death came as a shock to all of Chavan family members. The children were inconsolable however they were taken care of by Pakhi who had turned on a new leaf after Sai and Virat’s death. Pakhi becomes a good mother for Sai and Virat’s children while Satya takes on the duty of their father. As the years pass by, Pakhi and Satya together co-parent Sai and Virat’s children as good parents.

In heaven

Virat is seen gazing at his children when Sai comes there and tells him, “Didn’t I say you that our family will take care of them?” Virat nods. Sai and Virat together watch Vinayak, Savi, Viren and Saira happily playing with Pakhi and Satya and hug each other happily. Ghum hai kisikey pyaar mein happy tune plays in the background.

That was the end of Sairat’s story.

The End.

Regarding the names of Sairat’s twins, I chose the name Saira for the girl as it was suggested by the majority. For the boy, I wished to have a name starting with “Vi” and some of you suggested “Veer” so I kept the name “Viren”.

Thanks a lot to everyone who read this story throughout and gave your comments. I really enjoyed reading all your comments. Hope I could entertain you all enough with my story. Wishing you all a very happy Easter and a great journey ahead.
