Nimki Mukhiya fame Shiwani Chakraborty on social media becoming a barometer for actors to get work; says, “We are actors, not social media influencers”

Shiwani Chakraborty, who was seen in Nimki Mukhiya is not happy with the way social media is nowadays perceived as the barometer for actors to get work.

The actress talked about it during a recent interview and shared, “In a way, actors are being pushed to be social media influencers these days. Almost everyone is so active sharing videos, pictures, and photoshoots that if somebody isn’t doing it, they feel the fear of missing out. We are actors, not social media influencers.”

She added, “Earlier people used to focus on a person’s acting skills, but now it’s only about the number of followers that one has. I have also heard that while casting for a show, actors are told that they have to work on their social media, get better and consistent at it, and gain more followers. But isn’t an actor supposed to be known for his/her acting skills instead?”

Having said that, Shiwani too has no choice now but to work on her social media game. She said, “I don’t have a problem with people sharing things on social media. My problem is that if someone like me doesn’t want to focus on their social media and just keep acting, it gets difficult for us. So now I have to focus more on it to get an acting offer.”

Shiwani is also known for her performance in The Ek Thhi Naayka, Pavitraa Bharose, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actress is currently looking out for work.
