DEAR DIARY, TODAY I TURNED 23. HOW COME THESES YEARS WENT SO FAST. YOU KNOW WHAT? TODAY AUNTY AGAIN STARTED BLABBERING ABOUT MY MARRIAGE. DAMN SHE SUCKS MAN!! JUST POUR SOME ATTENTION TO YOUR OWN LIFE FOR GOD SAKE, BUT NO! THEY ARE MORE INTERESTED IN MY LIFE. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES A GIRL SO STRONG TO LIVE WITH A STRANGER HER WHOLE LIFE. HONESTLY SAYING I DON’T POSSES SUCH STAMINA OF MARRIYING ANY RANDOM STRANGER !! WISH I COULD SAY IT TO MOM BUT TODAY I SAW HER ALSO KEENLY INTERESTED IN GETTING ME MARRIED. TRUST ME, THIS WAS THE ONLY THING MADE MY HEART STOPPED FOR A SECOND. WHY I DON’T HAVE ANY OTHER OPTION. ACTUALLY NOT JUST A STRANGER I CAN’T SHARE MY LIFE WITH ANYONE… I WANT TO LIVE ALONE, WANNA DO A JOB OF 9AM TO 6PM AND COME BACK HOME SPENDING TIME WITH MYSELF. I WANNA SPEND MY TIME EXPLORING, EXPERIENCING, TRAVELING AND MANY OTHER THINGS. I CAN’T TAKE RISK OF MARRIYING As I HAVE MANY OTHER THINGS TO DO.

And soon the pen rolled down as the writer went into sleep with an innocent and helpless face.
Next morning she woke up and placed her diary on the table safely. The same tension was visible on her face.

The day started, she moved out of her house for a walk.
The sunshine relieved her a little and she sat in a nearby garden alone. Soon her eyes caught the sight of a couple moving hand in hand, this scene made her frown a little so she left the place. God knows what but since beginning she had an unknown fear of marriage. ” Anikaa… listen!” a girl waved and shouted the name of girl leaving the garden. She turned to her and got a relieved smile on her face. Anika ran and embraced the other girl, the other girl sensed her tension.” What happened anika? Is everything okay?” she caressed Anika’s back.
” What should i do gauri? i am feeling trapped… i am feeling scared… please tell me what should i do?” Anika started weeping. Gauri took her back home as it started drizzling.

Anika sat near the glass window and was observing the rain droplets on glass, gauri took a place near her.
Gauri: Anika i think you should run away! !!! ( gauri gripped her hands between her palms and requested)
Tears fell from Anika’s eyes.
Anika: Did bhaiya again….?? ( gauri looked down)
Gauri : Leave it anika! after all he is my husband and your brother…
Anika : Step brother!!….. ( anika said in a cold voice and wiped off her face) i am sure he would have misbehaved with you? she asked
Gauri : what will you do for it? u know what my life has been finished, but i don’t want you to risk yours life by marrying to someone of rohan’s choice and maa will also support him only ( Anika looked on as now gauri started revealing her pain)
Anika: but i don’t wanna marry anyone….
Gauri : that’s why i am saying run away anika please! i have lost my faith in marriage now and i am sure that rohan won’t be able to give you someone good enough! Actually you don’t need anyone, just go and live your life on your own conditions.
Anika: I think you are right gauri I’ll go away from here, very far from these people….but is it the only option left??
Gauri : It’s the only option left for each and every girl who wants to live her life instead of compromising her life!
Anika agreed to her.

AT NIGHT
Gauri somehow made Rohan have sleeping pills and went to Anika’s room. Anika had packed all the stuff.
Gauri : anika i want you to wear this…. ( anika saw a mangalsutra)
Anika: but why? these things are for married women…
Gauri : i know… but you don’t know one thing that the world outside is tooo harsh and cruel, if it sees a girl having no men beside her, they just think her as their property and i don’t want you to take any risk of your life….
Anika: what are you saying?? how will these things protect me?
Gauri : these will anika!! our parents does our marriage just because they want someone to look after us after tus, although they never realize that we girls are mature enough to handle ourselves, these are the signs that a girl has got a bodyguard for herself and people in fear don’t trouble them so if you are not even married just wear these things and if anybody asks anything just say your husband has missed the train but he may be coming anytime!! after all the safety which a husband cannot assure, so his name can do the little bit of it and when you reach safely you can remove it.
Anika agreed to her.
Gauri: Have these tickets, you will reach Mumbai soon by tomorrow before rohan gets up and don’t worry I’ll look after everything, just take care of yourself and yaa don’t trust anyone soon, i have kept 50,000rs in your purse, sorry i just had this much…. but just go and look for a job there till then try to manage with this amount.
Anika: shshhhhh…….. i understood everything!! now listen to me You know what! u are younger to me but you care about me more than my family. Rohan never gave me anything although i was his step sister but sister after all…. but i am thankful to him for giving me you Gauri, our relation is so pure that nobody would be able to understand it ever. ( They again got emotional and showed the love and Care they possessed for each other)
Gauri : aahhhh, ( Gauri uttered in pain and soon anika discovered a big scar on her hand) leave it anika! now you are getting late… just go now!
Before anika could say further, Gauri made her leave from back door. Anika turned to Gauri and found her in tears, she was actually her jem… The precious one. Gauri waved her hand bidding gud Byee to her. Soon anika left.
