The night after they arrived, Avneil in their bedroom…
AVNI: [comes into the room, brings water jug with her and places it on the side table] Neil, I’ll go and see Juhi is okay in her room.
NEIL: Avni. [she turns around and looks back, he goes close to her] Do you know how amazing you are? You have shown belief and courage when most people lost them. I do fear for your safety, and do worry you may put yourself in danger. But you turn out to be right each time.
AVNI: I’m only doing what I feel is right. Aand when you are around, I have no fear. I know you will not let anything happen to me. You are my strength and my trust.
NEIL: Yes, I will not let anything hapen to you.
AVNI: It is our responsibility to make sure she gets a life back. [Neil hugs her, and they have a moment together, looking into each other’s eyes]
AVNI: I will be back soon, ok? [Neil nods, she walks out]
NEIL: [to himslef] Avni, I know why you are helping Juhi rebuild her life. So I wouldn’t feel guilty about not saving her sooner. You know my mind so well, and you seem to know what to do, better than I do.
Late in the night… Neil wakes up in his bed, as if he just had a looks worriedly beside him. Avni is there, sound asleep. He is relieved to see her. He moves closer to her, runs his finger over to move strands of hair off her face, that were disturbing her. She turns on her side, holding Neil’s hand. He adjusts his ow pillow and lies down again, making sure not to move the hand she’s holding. He lies down, looking at her, and falls asleep again.
