The video begins with Munawar saying, “Hi friends, I wanted to clear up some misunderstandings. A while ago, I performed at a show where, instead of traditional jokes, there was a lot of crowd work and interaction with the audience.”
Acknowledging the backlash, the comedian clarified, “Many people feel that my remarks were offensive to the Konkani community, and they believe that I made fun of them. But that wasn’t my intention at all.”
Faruqui further explained, “The people I joked about during the show enjoyed it as well. The audience was diverse, with people from all backgrounds. However, I’ve noticed that some individuals are hurt by the clip, and as a comedian, my goal is to make people laugh, not cause pain. He went on to say, “Ye Konkani log ch***ya banate hain sabko.” The remark quickly went viral on social media, leading to widespread disappointment and criticism from his followers.
