MMZ- My Story
One shot

Guys, I am really not sure about this. This is a trial sort of thing. I haven’t written in this style of narration ever before, so please spare me if it isn’t up to the mark. Please do let me know.

Happy weekend. 🙂
……………

Hello I am Arjun and, this is my story. Well, if we think about It that way, I can easily tell you anything, a fairytale love story or how I was the knight shining armour to a damsel in distress, or how I kidnapped the girl I loved on the day of her marriage in front of all her relatives.

But no, I’ll just stick to the truth. Mine isn’t a love story….well, not even close to one….its just a story with a happy ending.

Around 8 years back, I was living with a college buddy of mine. Neil, his name was. We were both software engineers.

Well, my story started when a young beautiful girl, radhika shifted in the apartment next to ours.
She was all alone. No roommate. Strange city. Worked in the HR department of a famous pharmaceuticals firm.

One day, I ran into her in the hall and invited her in for lunch. And to me utter surprise, she even accepted. I had never even imagined that she would accept an invitation from a loser like me. Seriously, even I would accept an invitation from me. But she did.
She came over and soon, we just became friends….me, Radhika and neil. We were all Happy-go-lucky sort of people, we really had lot of fun together……food fights…movies…dancing….hanging out on our couch doing nothing.
Radhika was beautiful, had a flawless porcelain skin, looked like a fragile doll. But trust me, she wasn’t. Just wasn’t. She was easily the toughest amongst three of us.
She was kinda like a jack of all traits. She was our emergency contact. From spiders to opening jars to leakage, she was always on it.

She grew really close to both of us and was really comfortable in our company.

Radhika and Neil were always on the same team, pulling pranks on me. I didn’t mind, I was willing to do anything to see that beautiful curve forming on her lips, her smile.

Every action of hers mesmerised me. I started living in my own dream world, my parallel universe, where she was all mine.

Until one day,
Neil had taken an off that day. So, I came back early from office. I entered the apartment using my spare key, so as not to disturb him.

The sight that awaited me, broke my heart into a million pieces. It felt like a shard of glass was stabbed in my heart. But could I say it out loud,
No I couldn’t.

Radhika and neil were sitting really close with their fingers interwined, with his head on her lap.

I was shocked, which was but natural. Neil saw my ash stricken face and stood up instantly. Even Radhika did. They made me sit down.

Radhika’s words still ring in my ears, sometimes.
She said something like, “Arjun, you know I am both happy and sad that you walked in like that. Well, Neil and I were thinking to tell you about this for a while now, but there just wasn’t a good time….or good words for that matter. I love him a lot. And now that you came and saw, we were spared from breaking to the news to you.”

And just like that my parallel universe crumbled. And my throat convulsed. But it wasn’t really their fault. I had a crush on her for a long time but didn’t have the guts to say it. It wasn’t their problem…it was mine. I didn’t know anything other than telling them that I was happy for them. Well, I really was….yes, there was some part of me that felt bad….really terrible. But overall I was happy, atleast my best buddy got the girl he loved.
Maybe, if I had spoken that day….the story would be different now. Radhika would have been standing next to me. But I didn’t. I couldn’t cloud over the sun of their happiness.

I kept my feelings to myself. True, it felt suffocating and was killing me. But I learnt to live with it.
After about six months, Radhika and neil got married. And I was the best man at the wedding of my crush and my best friend. My life is really fun….isnt it?

I lost all hope that day and gave my nod to which ever girl my parents selected for me.
After about an year, i too got married. It was an arrange marriage. The girl was really beautiful and well qualified, she was understanding.
But she wasn’t Radhika. My heart ached each time, I saw Radhika and neil together, happy with each other.

I decided to give my marriage and my life in general, one chance. Not for myself but for the girl, samaira, with whose name mine was attached.

And slowly and slowly, we got used to each other. We started understanding each other. And unknowingly, I fell for my wife. I don’t know, whether it was a rebound thing or whether it was just because she became a habit of mine. But I did. I really did.
…………….

I am half way done through the next chapter of the inmate and will update soon 

Silent readers please give your reviews.
