Chapter 8- The proposal
Arjun and Aashi got into the Pack House. Aashi gasped at the sight in front of her. It was beautiful. It was a huge wooden house that had glass walls and everything from the outside could be seen inside.
But….
Only to werewolves.
The house had been constructed with many holy chants. Presence and blessings of elderly and experienced Alphas and werewolves made it stronger. All of the Alphas around the country had been invited. It was the only way all would group up. Despite being rivals. It was the law of the wolves. That whenever a new Pack House was being constructed and was ready for use, all the Alphas along with their Lunas had to assemble.
The Pack House was designed by Arjun himself. The old obe was smaller. Couldn’t accomodate all. It had poor dungeons. The doors were rusted and the meeting room had a seepage. So, a new one. It was satisfying and Arjun was appreciated.
“Like what you see?” Arjun smiled as he squeezed his sister’s hand.
“This is one amazing House!! I could live here for eternity!!” Aashi grinned in excitement.
“One: Control. You need to be in control.
Two: No smile.
Three: A cold look. You need to show your aggressive side.
Four: No blabbering.
Five: No giggling.
Six: No fiddling with hair or nails.
Seven: Be a good listener.
Eight, last but not the least: Think before you say. Because once said, it cannot be taken back. Every word and breath you take in there counts.
Watch Sam. You’ll understand. Stand in the side for today and observe. Then you can take your seat that is only for you and has been waiting for you since ages” he said with a smile in the end.
Aashi pouted. He was serious while telling her about the way she should behave in the meeting and he laughs and smiles suddenly like nothing had happened.
The RULES!!

On how to behave. Aashi pouted again and Arjun let out a hearty laugh. He ruffled her hair to which Aashi scowled and pounced on him scratching him with her long nails.
“Relax kiddo. It’s not that hard. I told you because you’re too hyper and like a kid. You’re the youngest, but you’ve come of age to attend the meetings and be a part of it and express your views and ideas. It’s a very important thing for a werewolf. Female wolves are not allowed to attend, but I’ve changed the law here. I want everyone of our family to be part of it. Now come, let’s go” he patted her cheek and pulled her in.
“Bhai did it hurt? I’m sorry” she said in a low voice as she looked at his arms that had red marks from her scratching.
“No. You can never. It’s all in the game. We wolves do play like that. So, don’t worry” he smiled.
Arjun sighed as Radhika’s thoughts crossed him. He closed his eyes and let out a painful growl. It was not him, it was his wolf who let it out. He wanted her more than his human form. Aashi pursed her lips at his suffering.
“Bhai Rashi loves you too. But she’s scared. She doesn’t want to be a second hand, like how you say. Once used should never be again. She’s pure and believes in True Love. Bend and mend to her will and she’ll trust you. Give her time” Aashi said as she rubbed his back.
“I need her. So very much. I don’t think I can hold back any longer” he said in a pained voice.
The guards bowed down and had their eyes down as they walked in. Arjun looked at them with a cold look and gave them a sharp nod. Aashi looked at his fast changes in expressions. She sighed as she nodded her head at her brother. He was still hard to understand.
It was a rule that male wolwes of lower grade shouldn’t eye female wolves of higher grade, especially the Luna (be it present or the elder one) and the sisters of the Alpha. Aashi looked surprised. The guards and warriors at their place were not like this. She shrugged her shoulders not wanting to tire her little head.
“It’s a rule princess. Not to look in the eyes of the females. Especially the ones higher to them” Arjun whispered to which she nodded.
“What if they find their mate in her?” she asked suddenly after thinking for a long time.
“That’s not bound to happen. A male can see a female of lower grade, but a female needs a male who is better and superior. Don’t ask why. Even I don’t know. It has always been this way” he replied.
Just then one of the guards looked up to see Aashi and his eyes met hers for a second before he looked down. He knew the consequences. Arjun saw him and took him in the air and threw him to the floor. He didn’t want to shift.
Not now.
Not when they had a meeting.
“You looked at my sister. How dare you?” Arjun screamed as he pulled his hair.
The other guards came running and pulled up the injured one.
“Throw him in the dungeon” he hissed as he pulled a shocked and terrified Aashi with him.
They entered the meeting room and Aashi was welcomed as the new-youngest member. Aashi who was terrified finally smiled after all the warm and love filled gestures she was showered with. They all sat down and the meeting started off. Aashi watched everything keenly.
“Arjun what about your mate?” one of the senoir members asked.
“I’ve found her. The only thing left is I need to bring her here” he replied with a smile.
“Good to know. Now you’re not under the time pressure” the member said.
“Now Aashi your turn” Chandra Mehra, her father said.
“What? Not now Paa. Please” she pouted.
“Is this some joke? A while back you all wanted Arjun Bhai to find a mate, now me. You guys want to kick me out is it?” she hissed.
“It’s not that you have to find your mate outside our pack, you can in our pack too” her father smiled.
“I need time. But no time constraints. Please” she pleaded.
“Ok princess. As you say” Arjun chuckled.
“Was Neil pressurized too?” Aashi gasped.
“No. He found her before we could do anything” Raj Mehra, Arjun’s father smiled.
“Oh” Aashi nodded.
Aashi kept quiet throughout the meeting. It was not the thing where her decisions were needed. It was out of the box for her. Yes, she was young and needed time to know things and get accustomed to it all.
Being a werewolf was not an easy thing. That too cousin of the Alpha and sister of the Beta was a dangerous thing. She was their soft corner and almost all knew it. Being careful and shrewd was important.
“How was I today?” Aashi asked.
Arjun and Neil burst out laughing. Aashi scowled as she almost shifted. Sam held her hands and stopped her. Aashi ended jumping up on both of them punching and kicking them.
“I never expected dad to open the mate topic to her too” Neil blew a breath.
“Like we did” Sam pouted.
“Don’t worry princess you can take your time” Arjun winked.
“Idiots” she cursed.
“You were good Aashi. Keep attending you’ll get the hang of it” Sam smiled.
“I’m going to Radhika’s place” Arjun finally blurted out as they walked out of the Pack House.
“Whaaaat?!” Aashi gasped.
“Are you straight?” Neil asked.
“Arjun you need to give her time. Not rush like this” Sam sighed.
“I’ve had enough. It’s hard. She needs me too and I know it” he snapped.
“It was just yesterday you found she is your mate and she rejected you. Let time pass” Sam sighed.
“Make her say it. Spend time. Change yourself for her and show that you’re not the old heartless and ruthless Arjun. Make her trust you Arjun” Neil said.
“I’m leaving” Arjun said as he walked to the mansion and left in his car.
“When will he learn?” Aashi stomped her foot.
Arjun drove to the Chandramaan’s Territory. The people (wolves) gave him death glares. Soon they softened and Arjun looked at his rear view mirror to see Neil’s car behind his. People liked Neil and Aashi along with Sam as they were nice to them and the three of them were regular visitors. Arjun drove relaxed and turned to right and found Radhika’s house as her scent lingered. His car screeched to a halt as her scent filled him.
Dreamy…
Arjun let out a relaxed sigh and stepped out of his car and corrected his blazer that he was wearing over his plain t-shirt. Neil’s car stopped next to his and Aashi came running to him.
“Arjun no. Don’t” she spoke breathless.
“Relax Choti” he said in a soothing voice.
“This is wrong” she hissed.
“Aashi please. I need your help and here you are trying to stop me” he sighed.
“Wait for a little while. That’s all we said” Sam sighed.
“I’ve come all the way here not to go back empty handed. Whatever it is I’m going to do it” he let out a breath and walked in.
“Why aren’t you doing anything? Why aren’t you stopping him? Neil why are you standing like this?” Sam scowled.
Neil let out a deep breath and walked in behind Arjun leaving a shocked and stunned Aashi and Sam at the doorstep. Neil came back and pulled both the ladies sighing more. He knew it was not going to be easy. Arjun was determined. When he decided something, it had to be done right away.
ZERO DELAY.
They walked in to find a man in his fifties sipping tea on his recliner. Radhika walked out in a red Sari with a simple golden border and a simple blouse of red colour. Arjun forgot the world around him. It had stopped.
Time Freeze. Frozen.
He just wanted to lift her in his arms and marry her right away. That red looked so good on her. Only of she had that pallu over her head.
No. Not marry.
That can come later too. First the Mating Ritual. Marriages didn’t exist in the werewolf world. But marriage was needed as they all posed to be humans. He had to first get her in his embrace. Rest can come later.
Aashi was gaping at her brother who looked like a love stricken teenager.
Teenager no. Puppy.
Neil had a hard time controlling his smile. Sam smiled wide. Radhika turned around to see the four of them in the hall. She gave a small smile. She looked at Arjun who seemed to have forgotten where he was and what was happening. Radhika went to Aashi and gave her a hug. Dilip looked up after finishing his cup of tea and smiled at Sam, Neil and Aashi. But scowled at Arjun.
Looks like all hate him for his way of lifestyle.
Arjun went to Dilip and greeted him with folded hands and a smile. He then bent down to touch his feet for blessings. And Dilip’s hand went unknowingly to his head and caressed his hair. Radhika watched it all shocked. Arjun smiled as he was back to position. Just then Mala came out and Arjun looked her with a smile. His heart felt light as he saw her eyes.
After four years.
Tears blurred his vision as he remembered his mother. He went to her and hugged her tight.
“It’s k. Calm down” Mala rubbed his back.
“I’m sorry. I just remembered my mom” he sniffed as he pulled away.
Radhika looked at him with pained eyes. He was carrying so much pain in him. She wanted to be in her mother’s place. She in his arms. He holding on to her for support. It would have taken a milestone to come out if it. His father would have had a tough time.
If werewolves fall in love, it’s them. Can do or die for them. The commitment and bonding is something unexplainable. That too the bond between mother and child. Male wolf with his mate.
“That’s alright” she gave a small smile.
He went to Radhika and went on one knee “I know I have been a jerk and an a*sh*le to you. I shouldn’t have been that rude when we first met. I know you hate me because of that and that I’m a playboy. But I swear, I haven’t touched a woman after I started to dream of you. You’re the most beautiful woman ever. Do you know how beautiful you look in that red sari? I just want to marry you right now. Please give me a chance. Will you be my mate forever and give me a place in your heart and help me change?” he asked desperately and his hand went into his blazer pocket and pulled out a tiny box.
“This is my mother’s. My dad had made it for her. And she wanted this ring to be on the finger of her son’s mate. Will you please do the honours of accepting it?” He asked with a smile.
Radhika gasped at the confession. It was a beautiful golden ring with a big blue diamond. She had tears filing her eyes, but she made it invisible to him. She wasn’t going to let his words affect her. Dilip and Mala looked on shocked. They then looked at each other and smiled. Aashi’s jaw dropped to the floor. Neil and Sam smiled. Veer, Radhika’s cousin who was the Alpha of the pack entered and saw Aashi. He smiled. He was so lost in her that when Aashi turned to him, he had to suck in a breath. She was so beautiful. Her smile made his heartbeats race. The two of them had a cute eyelock. He turned and saw Arjun on his knees and Radhika having a confused face. He snarled as he walked to him and pulled him up.
“How dare you?” he hissed.
“Please Veer. Don’t” Aashi came running to him.
“Veer let go” Radhika ordered and he let go.
“How many times do I have to tell you Mr. Mehra that I’m not your mate. And will never be” she snapped.
“Radhika please” he pleaded.
“No. Please leave” she snapped.
“I knew this would happen” Aashi mind linked Neil and Sam.
The two of them sighed as they understood and walked out with Aashi behind them. Veer looked at Aashi’s retreating form and sighed.
“I need you” he mind linked her.
He didn’t know when and how it happened he saw Aashi turn around and gasp. She turned around immediately and left.
“You’re mine. And will be forever. You’ll come to me. I’ll make you to” Arjun smiled as he kissed her forehead deep and walked out.
