The storm is never over.
It’s just that sometimes we want to close the door and remember the calmness before we face the disturbance again.

Author’s POV

The moment Riddhima left VR Mansion, her mind kept repeating the previous incidents. Though, it wasn’t a very big cut, but the way Vansh reacted to it made her feel different. Unknown to her, a smile slipped on her lips while she caressed the bandaged wound. So lost in her own world, she didn’t realize when she reached her home.

“OMG Riddhu! What have happened on your hand?” Sarah asked panicked when she saw Riddhima’s bandaged hand.

It was then Riddhima realized that she had reached. She got surprised that whole her way back to her home, she was lost in someone’s thoughts, to be particular in Vansh’s thoughts, a thing that have never happened before.

“Where did you get lost?” Sarah jerked Riddhima by her shoulder, bringing her out of her laala land.

“Huh?” Riddhima asked bewildered.

“I think you’re not feeling well. You go and take rest,” Sarah said skeptically and dismissed Riddhima to her room.

What’s wrong with her, Sarah thought as she saw Riddhima’s retreating figure.

Once in her room, Riddhima kept all her belongings on their place and sat on the couch. Messaging her temple, she tried to get rid of all the past happenings. Much to her dismay, her mind just repeated all of them.

Huffing at her own thoughts, she marched towards the washroom to take a quick shower. After sometime, she came out wearing a baby pink sweatshirt paired with black joggers, and directly plopped upon the bed. A short nap was all that she need at the moment. Tired by the hectic day, in no time sleep engulfed her.

************************************************

Riddhima’s sleep was broken by the continuous knocking on the door. Rubbing her bleary eyes, she moved towards the door.

“The dinner is ready. Come down and eat,” said Sarah.

“Dinner?!” Riddhima asked.

“Yes, it’s 8:30, so dinner. Come fast and eat because I have to go as I have a night shift today,” Sarah said and went.

Riddhima then went towards the washroom and splashed some water onto her face to get rid of drowsiness. After wiping her face with the towel, she headed towards the dining table.

Dinner was a silent affair. It was after the dinner Riddhima told Sarah about her injury and as expected, she began lecturing her about being careful.

“Riddhima, why you always have to act so carelessly? What if you were alone at the time? Who might have done the dressing of your wound? Thank god, Vansh was there, otherwise god know how much blood you might have lost,” Sarah said while dressing her wound, while Riddhima on the other hand stayed silent.

“What?” Sarah asked when she saw Riddhima looked at her dreamily.

“You look so cute while lecturing me,” stated Riddhima sheepishly.

“Ha.. ha.. very funny. Now I’m getting late. You take care and don’t let anyone enter inside,” Sarah said as she bid Riddhima goodbye and went on her work.

Once Sarah was gone, Riddhima sat on one of the sofas on the guest room and wandered what to do. Thinking for sometime, she decided to read a novel. As it was Sunday the next day, there would be no problem in sleeping late.

Opening the novel, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Riddhima tried to concentrate on the words, but seems like god has other plans for her. Her mind again kept replaying the past incidents like a movie. She was hardly able to read a paragraph.

“What’s wrong with me? Why am I not able to concentrate?” she muttered rubbing her temples.

You were telling Vansh to do meditation, but looks like you yourself need to do it, mocked her inner self.

Getting tired of battling with her thoughts, she decided to call it a night.

Closing the book and cross checking whether all the doors and windows are properly locked, she marched towards her room and plopped on the bed.

Since the time Riddhima laid on the bed, she kept tossing and turning. She wasn’t able to sleep. The moment she closed her eyes, those dark brown concern-laced orbs used to appear in front of them, making her open her eyes again.

Huffing at her own self, she got up from the bed. Concluding that sleep was something she wouldn’t get today, she decided to take a walk outside. Draping a shawl around herself and stuffing her phone inside the pocket of her joggers. she marched outside, not before locking the door properly. She did not bother to take something for self-defense because she knew karate.

***************************************

It was almost midnight, but in a busy city like Mumbai, the night had not effect. The roads were still filled with the cars and passersby’s. The roadside vendors were still doing their jobs. The flickering street lights shone in the dark night guiding people to their destinations.

The cool night breeze hit Riddhima’s face and all her tiredness vanished. She watched the glimmering light of cars and the streetlights and wandered how they were trying to touch the skin of the night. How they were acting as a well wisher of the passerby’s, making their journey easier by enlightening their path.

Riddhima’s thought were broken by a meek woof of a dog. That’s when her eyes landed on a tiny puppy, which was almost in the middle of the road playing with the fireflies, unbothered about its surroundings. A smile slipped on her face watching the carefree puppy, but that’s when realizing hit her. The puppy was almost in the middle of the road, and the road was still running. Without thinking, she jumped into the middle of the road and picked the puppy up.

A black BMW stopped with a loud screech.

“What the hell!” the voice roared inside the car.

“Sir… I did not… do it… deliberately… A girl.. came in front… of the car so…,” said the driver meekly fearing the owner of the voice.

“Go and check whether that girl in fine or not,” the voice ordered.

“Gudiya, are you alright?” the driver asked Riddhima.

“Yes kaka. Sorry for wasting your time,” she said apologetically. Her sweet voice captured the person’s attention. Lowering the window, he intently watched her every move.

“Riddhima,” he whispered, with a glint of lust in his eyes.

Under the silvery moonlight, her glowing face gave her an angelic look. Those twinkling stars in the sky increased the beauty of her hazel eyes. A few traces the fell over her face added more to her beauty. But this beauty got the attention of the beast.

“As beautiful as always,” the person smirked, “This was the reason I fell for you. Your beauty, your nature, your everything catches my attention. I gave you a chance, but you denied me. Now get ready to face the consequences.”

“Let my time come,” he added with a glint of anger, obsession and lust in his voice, as the car made its way to its destination.

Why did I feel that someone was watching me? Riddhima questioned herself, but nonetheless dismissed her thoughts.

Leaving the puppy at a safe place, Riddhima marched towards her home. She would have taken it with her, but Sarah would have gone mad at her, not because she disliked them, but she feared form them.

Once inside her room, Riddhima’s eyes began to close due to drowsiness. Taking it as a cue, Riddhima fell on the bed and finally called it a night off.

***************************************

It has been three week since the incident. With the physiotherapy sessions, Vansh’s condition was recovering speedily. He was now able to make movements with his injured leg. Though, he walked with crutches, but soon he would walk without them, on his own feet and as a therapist, Riddhima was so happy for the speedy results.

Today it’s Saturday and currently Vansh is sitting in his room going through a file but his mind is wandering around the only one who remains in his memory. It’s been an hour since she left, but Vansh felt it like an year.

What did you do to me Riddhima? he thought.

A knock on the door broke his chain of thoughts.

“Come in,” he said in a professional tone. Now he wasn’t the cool Vansh instead was the most feared business tycoon.

“Boss the Guptas have agreed for the meeting,” Angre said handing over a file to Vansh.

“That’s great. When is the meeting?”

“It’s is on Monday,” he informed.

“Oh! I see,” wandered Vansh, “Can’t it be preponed to Sunday?” he further added, thinking for while.

“No boss, I don’t think so.”

“Ok, I’ll see,” he said and dismissed Angre.

Listening about the meeting, Vansh became a bit disheartened. Wasn’t he supposed to be happy when he was going to crack the most awaited deal in it? Yes he was, but here he felt totally opposite.

It’s because you won’t be able to meet to Riddhima for two consecutive days, mocked his inner voice.

No, that’s not the reason, he defended.

It is the only reason otherwise why would you feel sad on the mention of  meeting, stated his inner voice.

But why did I feel so? he questioned.

Because you have feelings for her, stated his inner voice.

It’s all rubbish, he huffed.

“What’s rubbish bro?” asked Ahaan making his presence known.

“Um… nothing,” stammered Vansh looking everywhere but him.

“Oh! I see,” said Ahaan playfully.

“Whom? Sarah,” Vansh teased, making Ahaan irritated.

“I guess mom is calling me,” Ahaan said and rushed outside, avoiding the topic. This man really knows which string to pull at what time, he thought as he ran outside.

Sarah!

Suddenly something clicked Vansh’s mind and a wide smile spread on his face.

I can’t meet her for two days, but today I surely can, he thought.

***************************************

It was Saturday night and Sarah was on a night shift again. Having the house all by herself and next day being a holiday, Riddhima decided to watch a movie.

Turning on the television, she started the movie ‘The Girl on the Train’. It had hardly been half an hour, when her phone went off. Without seeing the caller id, she picked the phone up and placed it near her ear.

“Hello!” came Vansh’s voice from the other side.

“Yes,” she said absentmindedly.

“Hello Riddhima?”

“Yes,” she replied lost in the movie.

“Is Sarah at home?”

“Yes.”

“Ok. I just want to meet her. Can I come?”

“Yes,” she replied.

“Ok, I’m coming.”

“Yes,” she said and he hung up.

Riddhima was too busy in the movie that she did not have any idea of the conversation she did with Vansh a while ago.

After about 15 minutes, the doorbell rang, but Riddhima was too lost in the movie to check out who it was.

“Come in. The key is kept behind the flower pot,” she said, totally forgetting it was night time and anyone could be there at the door, but thankfully it was Vansh.

Vansh entered inside and locked the door behind him. Listening the voice coming from the guest room, he marched over there only to stop in his tracks. He was surprised to see the scene in front of him. Riddhima was sitting on the couch with a popcorn tub in her hand, and was totally lost in television screen.

“Ahem.. Ahem..” Vansh cleared his thought to gain her attention, but looks like Riddhima was zoned out. Calling her name for at least umpteenth time, he huffed and  marched towards the couch.

“Riddhima,” he gently patted her shoulder but Riddhima freaked out and in horror, jumped up on Vansh.

It all happened al of a sudden that Vansh got disbalanced and fell backwards with Riddhima on top of him. The popcorns that Riddhima was holding flew up in the sky and started falling like flower petals.

Vansh was mesmerized to see Riddhima in this state. The way her eyes were squeezed and the way she held onto his masculine shoulder made an adrenaline rush through him. This girl really had a great impact on him.

Riddhima felt a hard, yet soft thing under herself. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw herself lying atop Vansh. Shaking her head left-right and blinking her eyes, she tried to confirm whether she was dreaming or not.

Am I dreaming, she thought while blinking her eyes.

To assure whether she was dreaming or not, she slowly bought her right hand to his face. Feeling the tingling sensation when her hand came in contact with his beard, she got sure that she wasn’t dreaming.

Realizing their current position, Riddhima got up and so did Vansh. Now when she was standing, Vansh noticed her completely. She was wearing a black off shoulder top, paired with denim shorts. Not to mention, those loose hairs falling over her shoulders made her look breath-taking.

Watching Vansh keenly observing her, Riddhima felt conscious. That’s when she realized the clothes she was wearing. Getting embarrassed of her own self, she tip toed towards the couch and picking up the remote, switched off the television, and then stood behind it. Now that her half body was hidden behind the couch, she felt a bit okay.

“Um.. Va.. Mr. Raisinghania, you here?” she asked.

“Oh! I just came to meet Sarah,” he replied.

“But she isn’t at home. She has a night duty today.”

“But you said that she is at home.”

“When did I-” That’s when realization hit her.

It means that the one who called me was Vansh, but what did he ask, she thought.

“Oh! I might have forgot,” she said faking a smile.

This girl is really very careless. She was too lost in this idiot box that she does not even know about her surroundings. What if it wasn’t me? The mere thought of someone hurting her made his blood boil. This was something he never felt before.

“Now that Sarah is not here, I think I must leave,” he said composing himself.

“Won’t you have a tea or coffee?” Riddhima blurted.

“Huh?!”

“Tea or coffee?”

“Some other time and yes, you need not come on Monday.”

“But why?” Riddhima said loudly. As far as she remembers, she did not do any thing that might have hurt him then why was he saying her not to come on Monday.

“It’s just that  I have an important meeting to attend, so it’s a leave for you.”

“Oh okay.”

“Ok then. Good night!” he greeted.

“Good night,” she said and closed the door.

Once she was alone, she plopped on one of the sofas of the hall and released a breath of relief. Today was really an awkward day.

At some other place…

“So the lion is falling for a doe, not bad!” a man said throwing some pictures on the table.

Those pictures revealed Vansh and Riddhima. First one shows Vansh treating Riddhima’s wound, the second one shows Riddhima helping Vansh to walk, the third one in which Vansh is smilingly looking at Riddhima, and so on.

“Boss.. one of our men found Vansh Raisinghania with a girl. From our sources we got to know that the girl is his physiotherapist and not to mention Vansh remains very happy around her,” a man said.

“Oh! I see. Good for us, now he has a weakness and it would be easy for us to knock him down,” said the boss with a glint of jealousy and revenge in his eyes.

“Boss… from our sources we got to know that Vansh Raisinghania is going out of Mumbai on Monday,” said another man entering the place.

“That’s great. Now God is himself showing us the path. It’s the time to execute our plan,” smirked the boss.
