Chapter 24 (Part 1)
Arjun saw preeti looking his face with a expectation.,”you weren’t there…he came back”,she said meekly pressing her lips not to cry before him….Arjun sat comprehending her words..That was something which he never thought about.,which had no place in his mind even as a doubt…Faizal left the college when he finished his MBA..then how and why??Arjun shook his head in confusion…
“Arjun…I came to Delhi a year back when I was confirmed about my posting,I thought Radz would be staying with Neil and went to share the news…On the way, I saw someone being chased .,it was Faizal and unaware of anything happening around I ran to help him.,at one point, when I thought the car will hit him, the car abruptly stopped and Radz got down,I couldn’t hear anything but I saw her in a inebriated state warning him…She din’t notice me….Faizal told me that Radz held some past grudges against him,I din’t believe it.,Yaar…we know her isn’t…..I met Neil…..He said he was staying alone and Radz stayed with Preeti in hostel….the reasons Radz gave was baseless…and the most shocking one was Neil wasn’t aware of Radz consuming alcohol…We confronted Preeti ..She said.,Faizal was troubling her..and Radz asked not to inform Neil as he may indulge in fight and risk his career… We tried to handle the issue.,but we got to know Vivek was in favor of Faizal…Faizal had tricked our vivek…he paid for his masters and Vivek got lured with his money…Tasting the new found luxuries through Faizal,Vivek believed him…We all know,Vivek already disliked Radz for her naughty behavior,it favored Faizal…When I met Vivek he uttered rubbish about her…Radz’s habit of drinking fueled Vivek’s hatred..When Vivek accused her that she cheated you,Radz slapped him..Neil tried to convince him..But it went in vain..I guess that when you would have called him..”,Prakash looked Arjun…
“Why do speak like Vivek was righetous..he had no saintly qualities to get your concern..He is a traitor…I trusted him like a brother what he did…”,Preeti vent out her anger listening Prakash… Arjun looked her confused….
“I will tell you Bhai..You know isn’t it was last year of Bachelors for me and Masters for Radhu and Neil..that year Vivek joined our univ along with Faizal…Vivek ignored Radhu but behaved normal with us.. inspite of all this issues with Faizal,Vivek never let go his friendship with Faizal..And Faizal..what not he did…bhai..he used to scare me…Every now and then,once he came to my room just to tarnish my name and only after that Radhu stayed with me…..As per dorm rules,she wasn’t allowed in mid semester,and she bribed the officials for that…Vivek made a issue of it…He din’t even think that was for my safety..He blindly believed Faizal’s words against Radhu…Neil bhaiya and Samrat uncle took the charge when she was about get suspended… It din’t go well with those two…Samrat uncle scolded Radhu before us..That day she chased him in car…After that for few days things seem to be normal and we went conscious on semesters overlooking that idiot…I stayed there even after my exams just for Radhu’s exams to get over..
…Faizal threw a party for Vivek’s birthday…I did a biggest mistake of accepting Vivek’s invite…Radhu did warn me…We went without informing anyone and Radhu waited in parking…I remember,that I drank what Vivek gave me.,within minutes I felt dizzy…I called Radhu….but no use..I felt someone dragging me and I was in a back seat of a car…I could see everything but couldn’t respond…Suddenly our car hit with something and It was Radhu’s vehicle…Faizal tried to hit Radhu but she hit him and pulled me out..”,Preeti stopped and looked Arjun with teary eyed…
“Bhai..that Faizal is nothing but..a beast !!..He hit Radhu with a log.,and tried to.. to…get me..on the middle of the road…”,she bit her lips to control herself.,but her whole tremored involuntarily recalling the past… Neil turned around facing outside…Kavin held her hand….
“If not Radhu…I would have died then itself…He behaved like a animal..Radhu being badly hit was unable to move…thats when She took her pistol and threatened Faizal.,he din’t budge., I couldn’t stop his advance….I just heard gunshots..I thought he was dead..but no..he was alive….He just yelled high..Neil and Prakash bhaiya came there with that stupid Vivek…..”,Preeti said with disgusted face…
Arjun was almost lost listening her and he saw Preeti to controlling herself….She closed her eyes to calm her mind while tears silently dripped from the corners of her eyes…He was raged like a bull,controlling himself he sat silent…He snapped a look at Prakash seeking answers…
“We met Vivek that day to solve the issue..We couldn’t see Faizal anywhere.,it was a just by fluke,we guessed he may be at his flats..On the way to his flats,we saw Radhika aiming at Faizal, and to shoot him…She shot him on his thighs..and Faizal complained a attempt murder case..he even said Radz spiked Preeti’s drink..he cited all petty reasons and he was the victim,after all., so Case got filed…Neil took the blame instead of her…Samrat uncle intervened and solved the issue..We sent Preeti to her native,waiting for the burning issues to cool down a bit….Within a week,Preeti informed that her foster parents are planning to get her married to someone for the loan they borrowed…Kavin came to us on Preeti’s insistence…..We thought we would settle the dues and get her back here..But things worked the other way…
Before us Faizal paid the money and took Preeti with him…Vivek was so overwhelmed assuming that to be Faizal’s generosity….He din’t let us meet her…We literally got mad.,Arjun…Radz tears are still in my vision…She called Faizal in our presence saying,she will come with him…then it strike us that he was trying all this to get her…..We couldn’t plan anything at last moment.and it was some interior forest like area in Kerala..We din’t know anything there,..Kavin with our dept influence managed to get a inspector on our favor and promised to reach the spot..I kept msging the details….But if to say that everything happened for a reason, then I would say.,Vivek got to know Faizal’s true colors that day..Faizal spoke a deal with Preeti and when he took the photos morphed with Preeti’s image ,Vivek was completely shattered…This girl has been unnecessarily pulled into the issue.. It was only Radz who took the lead…She was aware of this before it seems…we weren’t!!..
We felt exhausted before Faizal….His father’s political influence spoke that day.. Surrounded by his men.,he gave the photo films,Photos and left Preeti too…Radz pushed her into a car assuring that she will come safe….We waited for Preeti to leave and Kavin to arrive…Vivek attended someone’s call in a haste,Faizal
hit him bad, and as a reflex his men began to thrash us…within minutes..Faizal took Radz with him…and his goons took Vivek and Preeti in another car…I saw all the three struggling and Vivek madly hitting everyone inside his vehicle,..We laid being brutally beaten…Before anyone could think about something, the goons vehicle hit with some mini tourist van, and Faizal’s car collided with a force, his vehicle halted after a mad dash but he was thrown down the pit at the force of hit… Preeti laid on road in a critical stage….Radz lost her conscious…”,Prakash sighed looking the ground…
“After an hour.,through Kavin we got to know Faizal was badly injured., recovery chances were least for him..and Vivek went in coma…Most of them in the tourist van along with few goons have lost their lives..The devil responsible for all this is alive… what a fate..!!”,Prakash said sagging on the couch…
“I think may be because of you Radhika was targeted …you should find the reason…”,Kavin spoke…
Arjun saw preeti to lay her head on Kavin’s shoulders…Arjun caressed her scars…”because of that accident”,he asked…
“Yeah..because of that…”,she said sullen…
“Arjun…who told you that Radzzie is responsible for this”,Neil asked impatiently…and gestured Kavin to take preeti to her room…
“Everyone is just a Toy for her..Arjun… I fear we lost our Preeti.”,Vivek’s words played afresh in his mind and Arjun parroted the same…
Preeti stopped on her tracks,”that was when he saw me to commit suicide…Radhu threatened my foster parents for forcing me..She said she will pay the dues.,but I shouldn’t be harmed till then..but my uncle got scared and decided to finish the marriage that day itself…When Faizal paid the money,they said about Radhu…I din’t want to go with Faizal,so I tried to cut my nerves…but I heard Vivek saying those…Assuming that you came.,I opened the door.,but caught with Faizal…”,Preeti said in a sad voice…”You had called then?”,She asked curiously…
Arjun nodded…The whole week I tried my best to reach him….I did hear your scream pleading Radhika you won’t go…with bits and pieces of info I got,I struggled myself not to believe what I heard…but your parents said Radhika took you against your will…the death certificate..a witness ..an old man said Radhika pushed you inside some car when you pleaded her…I want to know everything but I couldn’t..how to ask her..tell me….”Arjun smiled humorless…”The certificate confused me more”,he shook his head sighing disappointed…
Kavin smiled.,”We had no other go…Faizal is alive..but none of his gang knew what happened with the girls…There was lot of unclaimed corpses due to the accident..the accident was indeed too worse…so…we utilized it on our favor…we made records of one among those as Preeti..and asked to handover only if someone comes in search of her….We knew her foster family won’t bother…We weren’t aware of you.,so when we gotinfos about someone enquiring about Preeti.,we made all possibilities to keep the lie alive…but unfortunately you got the certificate…..I married her after a couple of months of that incident and later changed her name as Shalini in gazette records….Faizal din’t gain his conscious for 6 months..so it favored us..moreover the certificate you received wont have the original attestation..It’s Just to fool Faizal’s men…We thought we could find you..but you turned even more tough for us”,Kavin spoke holding Preeti’s shoulder.. “What you heard from Preeti’s family is just what Faizal asked them to say..Its not hard to guess you see..”,he continued..
“Neil…you should learn detective skills from Arjun yaar”,Kavin mocked him and looked Preeti..
Neil patted Kavin..”I was searching with Wrong sur name..”,he laughed..”all this problems took a toll on my brain…well…Lemme gift that university office assistant something”…
“You din’t know your friend’s surname”,Kavin mocked again…
“Who was interested on this khadoos senior”,Neil winked at Prakash..
“My Ajju bhaiya isn’t a khadoos”Preeti pouted..
“Prakash..she is changing sides man…! we need to find a new sister”,Neil slumped on Prakash
“I already got one..Samaira!!”.Prakash smiled wide..
“I have Radhika”,Kavin cheered..
“Am I a sisterless brother”,Neil pouted like a kid…
Arjun found the atmosphere to be bit abnormal,but Only Preeti to enjoy their banter…
“Preeti..you need some rest..”,Kavin said looking Neil…
“Neilu bhaiya…Don’t mock my Ajju bhai”,Preeti said before leaving the cabin…Neil pretended to turn thoughtful on her words and she smacked his arm..
“Well…Arjun..whats the issue between Faizal and You…why was Radzzie targeted..”,Neil asked impatiently when Preeti left the place.. Arjun shook his head in negative…
“Damn..!! what the hell stops you…and why can’t you accept me as a fellow friend…Do you know what It feels to see your sister being dragged into a van..we both got a ruthless treatment by those men…The fellow took her like a trophy…and ….she..the idiot was expecting you to contact even after that…”,Neil banged his fist on the table…
“That was something he himself din’t expect Neil..!..he said his situation too,so don’t blame him”,Prakash spoke for Arjun…
Ofcourse yes….If it is someone or something to be blamed it only the Situation…It happened only after he decided to stay aloof..his dad accident.,him being asked to stay away..,and here Radhika and Preeti suffered…Bad.,it never comes alone!..
“I called you yesterday to inform that Faizal has got recovered…the issue is serious…Whats the use of being a Man.,when you can’t do anything to save the dignity of a woman especially your family….I felt this when Faizal misbehaved with them..you have no idea of the ordeals we three men went through…When I laid in blood, watching Radhika to be dragged into a van,I just prayed if she can’t be safe let her die..!! but shouldn’t face the hell Faizal had planned…..Vivek was stupid.,but the only good thing he did was, he made the accident happen…else we have no courage to guess what would have happened with Radhika and Preeti..”,Prakash bend forward supporting his palms covering his mouth…
Arjun sat froze listening them…”Believe me Prakash..I have no idea why Faizal behaved this worse.. May be he took it as revenge against me…I did fight for Radhika…”..Arjun said thoughtful…
Neil was almost in tears..he pushed the other door open and left the place…
“Preeti never spoke anything related to Faizal to us…It was just because of you she said all this….Neil would have felt offended…Don’t take him wrong..I doubt,even I can’t be like him..blindly supporting the people who never opens up anything to you..!!”,Prakash heaved a sigh as he got up… “It’s upto you Arjun…and Faizal is dangerous.!!..”,Prakash left the place…

Arjun saw Neil looking the vast swimming pool of his hotel through the long straight windows from his cabin… He adjusted his throat…Neil just gave a side eyed look…
“Well..you never told me you own a hotel”,Arjun spoke looking his back…
“Because you din’t fake for a job here”,Neil sardonically remarked with out facing Arjun….
Silence occupied every second of the cold moments passing in between the furious gentlemen…
“Am…umm…Neil….I shouldn’t have raised my hand…and.I am sorry….”,Arjun said after a minute… “I was angry on you..listening Vivek’s words.. I did enquire in police station where Faizal lodged the complaint….but..everything turned me against you people isn’t”,he asked defeated…
” No Arjun…I could understand you…if only we had spoken this would have been avoided..”,Neil turned to face him
“You said if I stop speaking with preeti…Radhika would worry about me and contact me…so I thought why not to include you too”,Arjun chuckled…”but drastic turn of events…”,he shook his head…
“As though you listen me every single time…I plead you isn’t…you were in contact with us but not with Radzzie…did you listen that?”,Neil faked anger… “but Arjun…you need to know a lot…what she hides from me ….She will say to you…I know she will….!! She isn’t the same one…Vivek’s words are true for a extent..Atrocious..!!Yes…at times….can you believe she kept me away from all this…every time whenever I scold her that she lost you…I had seen her smiling…She learnt to hide her pain from me…My radziee..Who rushes to me for every single thing…would cry in my absence..take pills for sleep…and drink when I scold her …!! Until she came here she was like that….I wish she doesn’t turn that way again….find what bothers her this much….”,Neil said conveying his confusions and worries in a sad tone..his fingers rolling a paper weight….
“You think she will say to me?…She won’t…when it’s not you…then it’s not me too….Neil…don’t think that way…Am not important,more than you in her life…I knew that…!”Arjun held his shoulder….
“She is more a sister for me..I couldn’t see her like this…”,Neil’s voice constricted…
“I know…am sorry for being stupid…like really…I had hated you for roaming with her always..spoiling my time with her”,Arjun pressed his lips looking Neil…
Neil smiled a little,”Over possessive”,he muttered..
“Can’t help buddy”..Arjun smiled…
“Arjun..on the first day concert of cheer beats,she openly said me how much she wished you to watch it…something organized by her…I really felt dejected that I couldn’t make her wish happen…but..that was a surprise you were there”,Neil smiled…”but…it was six months back…you said 11 months back you came here…”,Neil looked him baffled…
Arjun heaved a sigh,”Clever..!! I did say…my situation!!…its my sister…Nandhini….That’s y I got to meet you people late…”,Arjun said…
“Oh!!…hope your sister is fine..”,Neil said to him…
“Some other time I Will say about her” Arjun looked Neil…
“OK..Raddzie has a derringer!! Have an eye…Faizal…I forgot to alert her..”,Neil spat in a rush as he received a call from his guard.
“What.!!..”Arjun asked in shock…his mobile vibrated with Nandhini’s name…
“I need to go”,Arjun said hastily…
“Ok…I will meet Radzie…she is off to her house…”,Neil followed in suit….
“May be to meet Sam”,Arjun said walking to elevator….Neil just hummed in response….he doesn’t want another chaos now…his mind somewhere alerted about Piyali….
“You seem to have guards around her”,Arjun mocked..
“No..just today.,Cause we couldn’t take risk after learning about Faizal..”,Neil adjusted his watch and walked swiftly before his staffs…Arjun smiled at his bossy mannerisms..

Radhika pulled her car before the mansion….She felt annoyed…depressed….ignored…over all dejected listening and thinking about Arjun….he stayed as a puzzle even now….she wanted to blind trust him but everytime,her fate brought a new shade of him, like a news for her….Now…Neil too was in contact with him…his idea…her lips thinned at that…idiot..!! She wants to be care free now…to giggle like brainless…forget the pain…for few hours at least….Sam!! ..She got down wondering about the reason her calls to Sam remaining unanswered…she saw Sam’s car parked there..
She walked inside calling Sam’s name aloud… “Sam has left for some work..Charity function arrangements..”she turned listening piyali’s voice….
