Scene – 1:
The air is engulfed with silence. The view is not clear, as the area is filled with smoke. There was no sign of human existence. The silence was broken by the car which came to a halt with the screech. A man around early twenties stepped out of the car, from driver seat. And a lady of mid-twenties stepped out from the passenger side. Both their lips turned to a deep curve upwards. They walked forward.
The lady spread her hands around a man of early thirties and engulfed him in a tight hug. The man reciprocated the hug and held her close to his heart.
Man: I’m fine Sammy…
(The girl is revealed to be Sammy aka Samaira.)
Sammy: (She nodded her head acknowledging.) Yes…
After a minute, she broke the hug,
Sammy: I hope you aren’t hurt Neil… (Checking him for any wound.)
(The man, she hugged is Neil.)
Neil: I’m fine lady… Not a single wound… (And smiled, showing his dimple.)
Sammy: Good… (She turned to the man beside Neil.) I hope you’re safe Arjun…
Arjun: (Smiled.) Yes darling… I’m safe…
Neil: (Pulling Sammy into his arms.) Excuse me… Stop darling her Mr. Mehra… She is mine…
Arjun: (Gave him a bored face.)
Sammy: (Hit Neil on his bicep.) Oh please Neil… (To Arjun.) Forget about his remarks Arjun…
Arjun: (Smiled and nodded his head affirmative.) (Turning towards the man who came with Sammy.) I hope you didn’t disappoint us with your childish behaviour Parth…
(The man who came with Sammy is Parth.)
Parth: (Showing a puppy face.) Yes Arjun boss, I didn’t…
Arjun: Good for you…
Neil: And if I come to anything about your over excitement on guns or explosives, trust me young man I’m going to show you hell…
Sammy: Oh stop it guys… He was responsible and mature… And yes, I’m happy at least he shows joy and endearment in the life he has, unlike you guys…
Neil: Excuse me… Pardon me, what do you mean by that…?
Sammy: Precisely, at least he tries to show his emotions out without any concern or fear… Which is not your cup of coffee… (Pointing towards the duo and men behind them.)
Parth: (Smiled wide, giving them a victorious look.)
Man 1: Don’t you think you’re flying high in your own world Parth…?
Man 2: Yes, more than the requirement…
Parth: (Just shrugged.) Maybe… Why to worry about it now, Sid…?
(The man 1 is Sid.)
Man 2: Oh really…?
Sammy: Stop it guys… Sid, Yuvi, enough… Let’s move…
Neil: Yeah, let’s move… (Patting Parth’s head.) Will deal with you later…
Arjun took the driver seat. Neil occupied the passenger seat. Sammy and Parth took the passenger seats at the back.
Neil: (To Sid and Yuvi.) Clear this place soon guys… Your drive will arrive shortly…
Sid & Yuvi: (Nodded affirmative.)
The car got off the site in record break speed.
Scene – 2:
Neil got out of car. Opened the door for Sammy.
Sammy: (Hugging him.) Meet you by evening…
Neil: Take care Sammy… Be safe…
Sammy: (Hummed and broke the guy, pecking his cheek.)
Neil waited till Sammy got safe inside the restaurant. He smiled wide on hearing the couples praising the restaurant and their service.
Neil: (Thinking.) You did it Sammy… Your dedication towards your dreams, “The Food Shore” is spreading its colour… Proud of you Sammy…
Arjun: (Opening the window.) Hello, Mr. Romeo, get in we have to reach hotel in ten…
Neil: (Gave him a stern look and took his seat.)
Arjun: (Ignored his looks.)
They continued their journey. Finally after a travel of seven minutes, they reached the entrance of the massive hotel, carrying the name, “THE ROYALS” in bold.
Neil: Parth, check on Sid and Yuvi… And join us in my cabin in ten…
Parth: Yes boss… (And walked in different direction.)
Arjun: Neil, will join you in five… (Started walking off.)
Neil: Now where are you going…?
Arjun: I do have my personal life Neil… Will see you in five… (And continued towards the same direction he started with.)
Neil: (Huffing and thinking.) Hell with your personal life… I’m going to get you hooked with the right lady, and very soon, Mr. Hot Head Mehra… (And continued towards his cabin.)
Exactly after five minutes, Arjun walked in to Neil’s cabin carrying his laptop and few stacks of sheets.
Neil: (Gave him a look, but didn’t comment.)
Arjun: Here… (And extended a stack of sheets.)
Neil: (Got them and started reading them intently.)
Arjun: There is something behind us losing our recent deals… Need to be taken care or we’re going to get into serious issues…
Neil: Hmmm… The data clearly states, we lost every single deal with a thin difference… (Throwing the sheets on the desk.) It is just we two who knew about the deals and the data is been leaked, how…?
Arjun: By hacking…
Neil: What…? Hacking…? That too THE ROYALS systems… Impossible…
Arjun: Anything is possible Neil… Look… (And turned his laptop screen to him.)
Neil: (Had a look into the details in the screen and found them missing in fractions of second.) Where did it go…?
Arjun: (Taking back his laptop.) This was been happening since a while Neil… Whoever the hacker is, must admit he/she is extremely talented…
Neil: I don’t pay you to hear your praises for the f**king hackers, who crashed into my system and stole my data… In precise, crashed into your laptop and stole data…
Arjun: (Smirked.) Talents are to be appreciated Neil… And same talents are to be destroyed when it is against us… Time for the hunt… (And got off the seat.)
Neil: (Took his gun from the cabinet and checked, and placed them in his coat.)
Both left the cabin and crossed way with Parth.
Parth: Boss, Sid and Yuvi are done with clearing the mess… They will reach here shortly…
Neil: Good… Get the car Parth… And beware, no childishness young man…
Parth: Yes Boss… (And walked out to do as he was told.)
Neil: You have your gun…?
Arjun: Yes…
They reached the entrance and in no time Parth came with the car. They got into the car and left right away. As they reached their destination, after the thirty-five minutes’ drive,
Neil: Gun…?
Parth: Yes Boss… (Smiled wide and showed him his shining pistol, admiring it.)
Arjun: Good and don’t you use until you receive an order Parth… I’m warning you…
Parth: (Pouted and placing his gun back in its place.) Ok Arjun Boss…
They got off the car and walked forward. They came in front of a beautiful wooden house, in mid of a lake.
Parth: WOW… It’s an amazing piece of living… I would love to own one…
Arjun: Concentrate young man, you may even lose your head…
Neil: Let’s go… (And stepped forward, leading the rest.)
As they reached the entrance, they found the door open. They shared a look and carefully stepped forward, aiming gun in all directions to attack their intruder. But found none. They finally reached the kitchen and heard the musical and soft voice of a young lady.
Lady: Put off your guns men… We didn’t let you reach us for any war…
Neil and Arjun watched every moves of the lady. She didn’t seem to be threat. But they couldn’t risk their lives. Their trance was broken.
Parth: What do you mean by you let us reach you…?
Neil and Arjun: (Waited for her reply.)
She chuckled slightly.
Lady: Meant exactly what I said… (Little loudly.) Kittu, Athu, move your little ass guys… We got our guests…
Still now her back was facing them. They heard a voice from upstairs.
Voice: Yes RD, we’re coming… Kittu, you idiot wake up…
Within seconds two guys of around fifteen years came down. They passed them and walked towards the lady.
Boy 1: RD, why are they pointing gun towards us…?
Boy 2: Of course they point gun towards us, as they find us as a real threat… Grow up Kittu…
(Boy 1 is Kittu.)
Kittu: What more should I grow up…? Don’t forget it was me who cracked into the systems of THE ROYALS…
Boy 2: I think you’re digging your own grave Kittu… (And pointed towards the men holding their gun.)
Kittu: Don’t worry, if I’m dying, I’ll take you along with me, my little twin brother…
Lady: Kittu, Athu, shut up you two…
(Boy 2 is Athu.)
Athu: Fine RD… Just for you… (Kissed her cheek and took his place on the counter.)
Kittu: (Kissed her other side cheek and took his seat beside Athu, after picking the jug of fresh mango juice from the fridge.)
Athu: (Took the glasses from the shelf.)
Kittu: (Poured the juice in the glasses and placed the jug back on the counter.) (To the trio.) When you can trust us, you may get your share of juice… Here are the glasses… (He got the glasses from Athu and placed near the juice jug.)
Athu and Kittu were enjoying the juice.
Lady: (Finally after getting her work done, she turned back to face the trio.)
Arjun: (Was mesmerized by the lady in front of him. Her plain face and naturally captivating eyes made his heart skip a beat. But soon he composed himself.) Who are you and what made you to crash into our system…?
Lady: Relax Mr. Mehra… I was forced to crash into your system… So that I can get you here… And before you raise the next question… We didn’t let you find us for first few attempts, so that you get to know our strength and intelligence… This time, we let you locate us by giving you extra time, so you’re here…
Neil: Why…? Above all, who are you…?
Lady: (Gave him a sad smile.) Why, because I wanted you to reach me, in precise… Who am I, (she just shrugged.)
Athu & Kittu: (Walked towards her and hugged her from both sides.)
Athu: You need not do this RD…
Kittu: We three are enough for each other…
Lady: (Smiled with tears filling her eyes.) Yes dear… We three are enough for each other… But, he has all rights to know the truth… He deserves it…
Athu & Kittu: (Nodded their head affirmative.)
Lady: (Walked forward and extended her hands in front of Neil.) Hi… I’m Radhika… (Gulping hard she continued.) Radhika Malhotra…
Neil & Arjun: What…?
Neil: I hate jokes… Especially when it is related to my family…
Kittu: Oh really…? Jokes related to your family…? Hell yes, joke was for sure made out of your family, as we’re your family too Mr. Malhotra…
Athu: Any concerns, do contact the elder Malhotra, your father, sorry our father, Mr. Nerav Malhotra…
Radhika: (Stood silently.)
Arjun: (His eyes were clearly studying her eyes. He couldn’t find any sort of evil motives. All he could feel was pain, an immense pain.)
Neil: And why would I believe your words…?
Athu: Why wouldn’t you…?
Kittu: Don’t forget big bro, the past of the so called father is insane and absolute dark…
Athu: He for sure loved your mother, but never restricted to love many others too…
Kittu: Aren’t we right…? Didn’t you see by your own eyes in the past…?
Neil: (Was huffing in anger and pain.) Enough… Just stop it… (He paced the room huffing and pushed anything and everything he got in his hands.)
Radhika: (Pulled Athu and Kittu in her embrace and stopped them from pulling a fight with their hurt brother.)
After few minutes,
Neil: Why…? Why after so many damn years…?
Kittu: Why don’t you question your so called father on his deeds, instead of asking us…?
Athu: And trust me, if RD haven’t wished to let you know the truth, we would have not even turned towards you, the Malhotra’s…
Kittu: At least not after knowing that he let his new born daughter for dogs to enjoy their meal…
Radhika: Guys enough…
Radhika: (To Neil.) Please don’t take their words seriously, they are as hurt as you are… They never had their share of love from either of their parent… (Looking straight into Neil’s eyes.) We aren’t here to spoil your happy life or to hurt your mother… (She walked past him, took a file and video camera from the cabinet and extended it towards Neil.)
Neil: (Just stared into her eye, not making any advance to get the things in front of him.)
Arjun: (Stepped forward and got the file and video camera from her. He intently studied the file. His expressions changed to shock. He couldn’t digest the fact in front of him.)
Radhika: If you can’t trust still, we are ready for the DNA test too… And the file and video camera says the reason why we came in front of you… We couldn’t do it alone, as he is much more powerful… He could turn the tables as pleased…
Athu: We wanted support of someone strong…
Kittu: And without any doubt, it is you…
Neil: (Was still silent. His eyes were fixed on Radhika.)
On getting no response,
Radhika: (Lifted her eyes and found him staring at her.) Do you still dou…
Neil: (Didn’t let her complete her sentence. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tight.)
Athu and Kittu: (Smiled wide.)
Neil: Ra…
Radhika: (She broke into tears.)
Neil: (Tightened his grip around her and cooed her in his embrace. His eyes fell on the twin brothers.)
Athu & Kittu: (Gave him a pale smile. They shared a look and walked past the rest and entered the living room.)
Before they could reach the entrance door, a hand stopped them. They turned to find Neil and Radhika standing beside him.
Radhika: What do you think you were doing…?
Kittu: Oh don’t you even think we were leaving you behind and walking off…
Athu: We just wanted to give you both some space without any disturbance…
Neil: Stop behaving older, and speak and act according to your age… Are we good…?
Kittu: We never had a chance to act according to our age…
Athu: Especially RD… She had been raising us since fifteen years, right from our birth and our mother’s death…
Kittu: And yes RD, don’t you dare think we were void of parent love… We had our share of parent love, from you…
Athu: In this whole life, if someone was void of parent love it was you RD…
Kittu: But, we did protect you from that a*sh*le… (Spoke under his breath, with fisted hands.)
Neil: Who a*sh*le…?
Radhika: (Tensed beside him.)
None spoke.
Neil: Athu, who a*sh*le…?
Athu: (Clearing his throat.) There was a guy who was obsessed with RD… One day he crossed all his limits and tried to force himself on her when she was twenty…
Radhika: (Was shivering by now.)
Kittu: (Ran to her and engulfed her in hug.)
Neil: (Was boiling in anger.)
Arjun: (Felt miserable on seeing her state and wanted to kill the bastard who turned her like this.)
Parth: (Was silent, but too worried seeing her state.)
Neil: And…? (Still his eyes fixed on Radhika.)
Kittu: One day we reached her work place to handover her lunch as she missed to carry her lunch… At once we entered her office, it was unusually empty and when we neared her cabin, we heard someone screaming…
Athu: It was RD… We tried to open the door, but it was locked… So we had to break open the door… At once the door was open, we were shocked to see the fear filled face of RD and…
Kittu: And that a*sh*le was over her, forcing her completely on the floor… She was bleeding on her forehead, and many other places, as she struggled to free herself…
Athu: We couldn’t fight against a giant person like him, so I knocked him on his head with the vase and Kittu smashed him with the rod that he found from the corner, with many other decoration things…
Kittu: We supported RD and ran from that place and even the city…
Athu: Then we decided not to let her work…
Kittu: But she wouldn’t accept…
Athu: So we decided to work together… After lots of pressure and black mail, she agreed to make a deal…
Kittu: No compromise with studies…
Radhika: (Composing herself.) We started baking cookies and cakes to keep up our expenses, but still it wasn’t enough…
Athu: So Kittu shared his idea of teaching dance, in which he is an expert… I didn’t want to be idle, so I started maintaining accounts of a small bakery…
Radhika: Kittu was good in computers and he excelled in it… You would have known that by now… And Athu plays piano, he did many extra-ordinary performances and now he is the most wanted pianist…
Parth: Athu, The pianist… Not heard any such name…
Athu: Hello bro… I’m Atharv Malhotra… (And extended his hand.)
Parth: (Shell shocked.) Atharv Malhotra…? The young music sensation of the year, Atharv Malhotra…?
Athu: (Nodded affirmative.) I’m not untouchable you know…
Parth: (Gave him a blank stare.)
Athu: (Gestured him to look at his extended hand.)
Parth: (Shook his hand with him.)
Neil: A hacker and a pianist…? (Locking his eyes with Radhika.) And what about you…? Any hidden secret…?
Radhika: (Gave him a weak smile.) I didn’t have time to live my dreams… But, made sure they didn’t miss their dreams… (Smiling wide.)
Neil: (Opened his arms wide.) Come here… (Gesturing her to come to him.)
Radhika: (Ran into his arms and nestled into his chest.)
Neil: (Gestured his baby brothers to join the hug.)
They shared a group, sibling hug. After few minutes, as they were composed, they broke the hug. All settled on the couches in the living room. Radhika was seated beside Neil on the large couch. Athu was seated beside Neil and Kittu was seated beside Radhika, making their older siblings sit together. Arjun was seated on the arm chair and Parth on the bean bag.
Neil: So, what was in the file, we will discuss later… I have something important to discuss now… Are we in it…? (Looking at his siblings.)
They nodded affirmative. Arjun understood what Neil was up to and smiled pleasantly. Parth was having a curious face.
Neil: OK… No arguments, no ifs and no buts… (Looked at his siblings. And continued,) You three are coming along with me…
They were ghost struck by now.
Neil: What…?
Athu: You want us to come with you…?
Kittu: To live with you…?
Athu: As a family…?
Kittu: A single family…?
Neil: (Folding his hands against his chest.) Done with the interrogation…? And ‘YES’ for all your goddamn questions…
Athu and Kittu shared a look, smiled and turned their gaze towards Neil.
Neil: Why am I sensing dange…
They didn’t let him complete and hopped on him, screaming, “YES…”
Neil: (Laughed at their craziness. His gaze fell on his sister, who was turned to a statue.) Ra…
No response.
Neil: Ra…
No response.
By now Athu and Kittu were out of their trance and met with their stilled sister.
Neil: Ra… (He placed his hand on her shoulder.)
Radhika: (Gaining back her sense. She made no eye contact with anyone.) No…
Neil: No…?
Radhika: My answer, no…
Neil: You’re denying to come along with me…?
Radhika: (Not able to speak, nodded her head affirmative.)
Neil: And what made you think I would leave you alone, even after knowing you being my little girl…?
No response.
Neil: (Was losing his temper, but calmed himself.) Get one thing clearly into your head young lady… I’m leaving this place, only with my siblings… No more struggles and no more separate living… (To the brothers.) Go get your things packed, we’re leaving in a hour… Need not pack everything, take only the necessary things…
Athu & Kittu: (Shared a look.)
Kittu: But Nikki bro, RD…?
Neil: Nikki bro…? (With his eyebrows raised.)
Kittu: Sorry… (With head hung down.)
Neil: (Made his way to his baby brothers, pulled them into a hug.) Yep… Nikki bro it is…
Athu & Kittu: (Smiled wide, still being in the embrace.)
Neil: (Breaking the embrace.) Now go, get your things packed… (Before, they could even interrupt, he continued,) Your RD will be joining us… And we’ll live together forever, it is a promise…
Athu & Kittu: (Nodded affirmative, smiling wide and ran upstairs to get their things collected.)
Neil: (Gestured Parth to go behind them.)
Parth understanding his gesture, walked upstairs where the guys left.
Neil: (Slowly making his way towards Radhika, he spoke.) Ra, don’t be stubborn… I’m either taking you with your mercy or breaking all the ties with the man and joining you here…
Radhika: (Shocked and terrified, looked straight into his eyes.)
Neil: You heard it right lady, either you’re coming along with me or I’m joining you here… Now I’m least bothered about him being hurt or not… But, (breaking the eye contact with her,) there would be one innocent soul who is going to be hurt…
Radhika: Dare you not think about hurting her Nikki…
Neil: (Extending his hand towards her.) Then join me…
Radhika: (Glaring him, she spoke, gritting her teeth.) You’re one son of a b*t*h…
Neil: (Smiling wide.) That I am… (And gestured her towards his extended hand.)
Radhika: (Huffing pushed his hand away and climbed the stairs.)
Neil: (Laughed out loud and screamed.) Don’t delay darling… We have to reach home before dusk…
Arjun: (From behind.) Miracle…
Neil: (Turning towards him, raised his eyebrows gesturing what.)
Arjun: The GREAT NEIL MALHOTRA, without any proof accepted her (gesturing the way Radhika went) as his sister… May I ask why… And how…
Neil: I can recognize my blood Arjun…
Arjun: (Raised his eyebrows high.)
Neil: (Rolling his eyes.) If I’m not mad… And if I’m calm… (After a pause, he spoke being in his own trance.) At once I wanted to be calm, as I wanted to get back what I missed… One truth, if I analyse, that I haven’t witnessed my dead little girl, I can suspect she is my little girl… One close look into her eyes, I can realize she is my little girl… (Coming back to sense, he locked his eyes with Arjun.) She possess mom’s same brown hazel, Arjun… She is my little girl…
Arjun: (Nodded affirmative.)
After a hour, Radhika joined the rest in the living room. Guys were sharing the food and juice she prepared. Athu and Kittu giggled seeing her angry pout face. Neil gave her an innocent look. Arjun maintained a straight face, but was admiring her every move from his soul. Parth was busily admiring his shinning pistol, which is still brand new and unused.
Neil: Ready…? (Standing from his place.)
Radhika: (Huffed and stepped out, leaving her luggage for her brother to carry.)
Neil: (Chuckled and turned towards his little brothers.) She is damn cute with her angry pout face…
Athu & Kittu: (Giggled more, nodding their heads affirmative.)
Neil: Let’s move, we have a long way to go…
Guys walked with the packed stuffs.
