(Shauraya’s pov)

We both had admitted her to the nearest hospital and she was being treated. I had called bhai and he was on the way. Suddenly, Karan approached me and excused himself from there as he had some important work to do. Minutes after he had left the place, Himanshoo bhai entered and I told him about the poison which was injected to her. I consoled him as we both took seats outside the room. We were waiting impatiently for the doctor to pass on any information to us. A phone call made me leave the place as I attended it at a far corner.

(Surbhi’s pov)

I was feeling a little weak as I slowly parted my eyelids. Bright light seeped into my eyes as I looked at my surroundings. ‘Hospital,’ I muttered with distaste. This was the last place I had want to be as instead of curing me, it makes me feel more sick.

‘It’s ok,’ a familiar voice filled my ears as a tear formed in my eyes. I turned my head to look at bhai, YES, he was my bhai and finally he had come to meet me. I tried getting up from the bed but he stood at his place motionless.

‘Didn’t you forgive me yet?’ I uttered in between my sobs.

I tried to stand up on my feet as he lurched forward to stop me. He made me sit as he gave me a tight hug and I forgot all my sorrows and pains. This was the best place to be in, in the comfort of his arms. It felt as if I had returned back to my home and have found my most treasured gem. Tears were still not stopping as his shirt was getting wetter. The opening of the door made us part from our hug. I saw tears in his eyes as I wiped them off. Shauraya entered as he stood before us and said, ‘I want to inform you both about something.’

‘You are so bad. You should first ask about my health,’ I sneered.

‘I don’t need to because I know you are there to trouble me, my entire life,’ he mocked me as I stared at him angrily.

‘It’s the other way round,’ I shot back at him.

This banter of ours made bhai laugh as I smiled looking at him. Shauraya again diverted our attention towards him as he continued, ‘Maybe this isn’t exactly the right place but I guess this is the right time to tell. It wasn’t entirely Surbhi’s fault. I should have stopped her but i, instead supported her. It was I who was behind the kidnapping of Sanaya’s family. But I had no intention of harming her. I just wanted to blackmail her. It was that fateful night. My men were guarding the place. Their stock of water had finished and they purchased chilled water bottles from outside and everyone drank from them. It led to their unconsciousness. When they gained conscious, they ran in to check upon their hostages. But it was too late. Someone had killed Sanaya’s brother. And I think that our rival political party was behind all this. I still don’t know the reason but I’m trying to connect links.’

We both turned to look towards bhai as he stood there in utter disappointment and shock.
