Kundali Bhagya’s Shraddha Arya on the generation leap; says, “I was happy that the burden will be shared and I’ll get to spend time with my husband”

Shraddha Arya, who has become a household name with her role as Preeta in the show Kundali Bhagya is elated as her show has completed 1500 episodes. The actress expressed her happiness during a recent interview and revealed that she had no qualms about aging on-screen and playing a mother to Paras Kalnawat and Baseer Ali.

She said, “When I heard that the show is going to take the leap, Srishty (Anjum Fakih) and I used to discuss that after one week new characters will join the show and they will start calling us maa. Srishty was very clear that she doesn’t want to be called maa or maasi (laughs). We used to feel very odd but when the day came and the leap started, we found Paras, Baseer so cute. Our bonding became strong and we hit it off instantly. Ab bada mazaa aata hai. I am not really bothered that I am playing a mother on-screen, I’m enjoying myself.”

When asked if she had any apprehensions about the generation leap, she replied, “I never had any issues but people around me kept saying so initially I developed a little issue. But the first day when the leap happened, I was very happy that the burden will be shared and I will get time for my personal life. Since the time I’ve gotten married, I haven’t got time to spend time with my husband in my house in Visakhapatnam. I only visit him for 5 days whenever I get the time and it is just like a holiday. I’ve not really lived with him like a wife. So I was absolutely in agreement. But when people around me started saying that why are you playing such an older character when you are not in real life? So, initially, I was reluctant but eventually, I did what my heart felt.”

Talking about having any inhibitions or apprehension of ageing on-screen, she said, “I’ve been part of this show since the beginning and it’s not like I’ve just joined the show. I’ve grown in the show and otherwise. Ek saal pehle ki Shraddha mein Aur Aaj ki Shraddha mein bahut farak hai…. She was carefree, she wanted to travel abroad every month and hang around with friends. But now when I get some time off, I quickly rush to spend time with my husband. I am more responsible now, so my life has also seen changes. Obviously, it will not be like the show but it will be my story and why should I not play my character? I have become a mother on the show and not in real life. I think actors need to keep an open mind to play all kinds of roles and roles belonging to different age groups. Because you are an actor at the end of the day.”
