Kriyam ff- The one year marriage (Chapter 10)

Chapter 10

Krishna lay wide awake, as she heard the sound of birds chirping outside. Was it dawn already? She sat up and could see the sky turning light through the window. She plopped her head back down onto the pillow and shut her eyes, trying to sleep. Images of the kiss flashed through her mind and her eyes shot open again. All night her mind was plagued by the kiss and so many questions to follow. Why did he kiss her? Why did SHE kiss him back? At some point in the night, she had realised she was drawn to Sayyam and had been from the time she met him. There were unknown feelings growing inside her. Did this mean she liked him? No, this was not the feelings she got when she liked Yuvaan. She had never felt this way around Yuvaan, so why was it so different with Sayyam.

Of course the other big question was, why Sayyam kissed her. Was he starting to like her? No, no he can’t like me, he only considers me his DOST Krishna rolled her eyes, unknowingly starting to hate that word. She knew he was drunk and probably wasn’t even aware of what he was doing. She didn’t know why she felt a sinking feeling in her stomach, thinking about this. She sighed in frustration as she rubbed her temple, trying to ease the pounding headache she had from the lack of sleep. Finally giving up, she wearily got out of bed and went to the bathroom, hoping a shower would reduce her tiredness. After coming out she decided to start packing, as their flight was only in a few hours. She was nearly done when she heard the door open.

Krishna?

Her heart rate increased rapidly as heat rushed to her face, hearing the all too familiar voice. She was dreading this moment all night, trying to prepare herself to face him, but she just froze. She couldn’t bring herself to look his way, but she could feel his eyes on her, waiting for her to respond.

I’m sorry Krishna for last night, it shouldn’t have happened…

She slowly turned around and saw the guilt on his face. Oh god, does he remember? She thought to herself. She waited for him to continue speaking.

Yuvaan told me everything, I shouldn’t have drank so much last night, I’m sorry… He didn’t look at her and just walked to the bathroom, feeling ashamed.

Wait, that was it? So he doesn’t remember? Krishna thought, letting out a breathe of relief, but strangely felt slightly disappointed. Did she want him to remember?

They both avoided each other for the rest of the day, but for different reasons. Yuvaan had woken Sayyam up, who had passed out on the sofa in the living room. He told Sayyam what had happened last night, but he still felt like something was missing. It didn’t help seeing how Krishna was acting around him. Was she this upset with him drinking last night? Did he maybe say something to her last night that he can’t remember? They were both lost in their own thoughts as they made their way to the airport.

They sat down in their seats, waiting for the plane to take off. Sayyam glanced over at Krishna who was very fidgety. He remembered her being afraid of flying and didn’t realise when he grabbed her hand.

It’s ok Krishna you’ll be fine He spoke softly to her.

Krishna felt an electric current go up her arm as she tried to tug her hand away, but he held onto to it firmly. She couldn’t help it, she felt safe and protected with him as she began to relax. He held her hand until she slowly drifted off to sleep, resting her head on his shoulder. He adoringly looked at her sleeping face, gently tucking away the few strands of hairs behind her ear. Krishna woke up after sometime, noticing her sleeping on Sayyam’s shoulder.

Sorry she said looking away, wiping away her drool.

She looked out the window. I didn’t even get to ski She sighed, thinking out loud.

Sayyam looked towards her Kuch kaha tumne?

Krishna shook her head, slightly blushing.

Sayyam couldn’t help, but laugh at her expression. Don’t worry, we’ll come here again and you can ski properly then.

Really?! Krishna smiled gleefully.

He felt all warm inside, seeing her face light up. But this happiness was short lived as they realised what Sayyam had just said. Of course there was never going to be another chance for them to come back here.

As soon as they reached home, they quickly met all the family and then went to the outhouse. Sayyam had work in the morning and it was Krishna’s first day back to work too, having transferred from her previous workplace. They didn’t speak to each other once they got home, but as they lay down to sleep they knew that something had definitely changed between them.

Sayyam woke up to the sound of music playing. He rubbed his eyes, slightly irritated as he got up from the sofa and walked towards the kitchen area. He stopped abruptly, noticing Krishna in the kitchen, as the song being played became clear to him.

Na wo akhiyan ruhani kahin
Na wo chehra noorani kahin
Kahin dil wali baatein bhi na
Na wo sajri jawani kahin

Jag ghoomeya thaare jaisa na koi
Jag ghoomeya thaare jaisa na koi

He was completely captivated by her. She looked angelic in her plain white anarkali, her light brown hair tied up in a loose braid, as the morning sun shone on her. She was busy cooking, as she gently swayed to the song. His eyes followed her every move as she gracefully tucked away the few strands of hairs behind her ear, revealing her soft, dreamy expression as she sang along to the song.

Na toh hansna rumaani kahin
Na toh khushboo suhani kahin
Na woh rangli adayein dekhin
Na woh pyari si nadani kahin
Jaisi tu hai waisi rehna

Jag ghoomeya thaare jaisa na koi
Jag ghoomeya thaare jaisa na koi

Krishna was too engrossed in the song to notice Sayyam standing near her. She closed her eyes and twirled around the kitchen, landing right into his arms. Sayyam swiftly put his hands on either side her waist to steady her from the collision. She clutched on to his t shirt as he unknowingly pulled her closer to him. Their eyes met as their heartbeats quickened. He didn’t know why, but this felt so familiar to him. He found himself getting lost into her deep brown eyes, he didn’t know how to get back from or if he even wanted to.

Baarishon ke mausamon ki bheegi hariyali tu
Sardiyon mein gaalon pe jo aati hai wo lali tu
Raaton ka sukoon..
Raaton ka sukoon bhi hai
Subah ki azaan hai
Chaahaton ki chaadaron mein maine hai sambhali tu…

S…sorry Krishna finally managed to speak up, looking away shyly.

She freed herself from his grip and ran to turn off the music.

Did the music wake you up? She asked getting back to her cooking, trying her best to hide her beet red face.

Sayyam came out of his trance. It..its ok…waise tum kitchen main kya kar rahi ho? He asked her, trying to ease the awkwardness.

Woh mein breakfast ready kar rahi thi She replied quietly.

He frowned at her. Tumhe meri fikar karne ki zaroorat nahi hai.

Krishna finally turned to face him Actually ye meine tumhare liye specially nahi banaya, mein apna breakfast bana rahi thi tho tumhara bhi bana liya.

Oh…um ok then Sayyam felt slightly embarrassed by his assumption and turned to leave.

Anyway breakfast is nearly ready so tum ready ho ke aa jana Krishna called out after him.

She chuckled to herself, seeing him leave all flustered. Of course she made an extra effort to cook a good breakfast for him, but she would never admit that.

After some time Sayyam came out and they both had their breakfast. He hadn’t had a proper breakfast in years, having refused to eat at the Birla house and it was delicious. Once he was done he got up to leave.

Wait! Krishna ran to the kitchen and grabbed a container. Ye lunch tumhare liye hai she said.

Sayyam did not expect this as he took the container. However he didn’t say anything, still kicking himself for looking like a fool earlier on. He tried to hide the small smile that spread across his face as he quickly turned around to leave, much to Krishna’s disappointment.

But just before he walked out the front door he looked back at Krishna winking at her with a smile Thanks and good luck on your first day.

And with that he left, leaving a blushing and stunned Krishna.

Precap Yuvani finds out about the kiss and they all go out to watch a movie.

Hi everyone, I know this was a short chapter. At this point I had found out the show was ending and I pretty much lost the plot with my ff after this chapter lol! I did want my ff to run longer, but I also wanted to finish it before the show ended, so I cut the story short. Only a few chapters left now. Anyway I still hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please do leave a comment.
