Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 contestant Arjun Bijlani talks about mental health and why it should be everyone’s priority

Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 contestant Arjun Bijlani was recently in Pune for the shoot of his upcoming web show. In an interview with BT Arjun shared that Pune reminds him of his teenage life. “I don’t come to Pune often these days, but I used to come here a lot during my college days. The culture of the city is what I like the most because I resonate with it. I am half-Maharashtrian, and Maharashtrian cuisine is my favorite. Since the city has places that offer authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, it’s an added reason for me to enjoy my visits here,” shares Arjun.

Talking about his experience with Khatron Ke Khiladi, he shared, “What you see on TV is just the edited part. In reality, it’s tougher. There are insects and reptiles put on you and you have to let them be on you till the task ends. Sometimes you end up with body rashes and redness that takes time to heal. But all this is part of the phenomenal experience that you get after participating in the show,”

He further adds, “For eight years of my life, I was working non-stop. I didn’t even realize when my son turned four-and-a-half years old. My work schedule was hectic. But the pandemic got me close to Ayaan. The time we spent during the lockdown made me know my child better. I developed a special bond with him and we did a lot of things together. In order to keep his screen time in check, I bought him a lot of board games that all three of us played together.”

Arjun also talked about the pandemic and how it affected people’s mental health severely. “Mental health should be our utmost priority and people need to understand that. People should value therapists as much as any other doctor who takes care of their physical health. People who go through a tough phase need to stop thinking about being judged, and they should prioritize their mental health. We should stop treating the subject as taboo. Mental health experts know way more than us and they can surely help you,” says Arjun, adding that even domestic violence can be a result of a person not being in the right frame of mind. He adds, “If a person is in the right state of mind, he or she wouldn’t do anything to harm their loved ones. I just cannot stand domestic violence, but unfortunately, it happens across the world,” he says.

When asked about his KKK11 co-contestant Shweta Tiwari’s struggle with abusive marriages, Arjun said, “Shweta has shared a lot with me but I am not going to talk about any of that. What went wrong in her marriage is her personal issue and I am no one to comment on it. But the allegation about her not being a responsible mother is absolutely wrong. I have seen her with her kids, she takes care of them a lot. If she is out for work, she always takes out time to talk to her kids. She is a great mother. I have always supported her and will continue to do so.”
