Seven Years Later ~ The Meet

Priyanka’s POV

I woke up to Armaan Malik’s Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon on my phone. It was my alarm. My alarm picked up any song from my playlist consisting of Armaan and Amaal Malik songs and used it as my alarm. I quickly woke up, brushed my teeth and got ready to head to work. It was my first day of work. I reached my new office and was immediately welcomed by Kavya. Kavya was an old friend of mine who informed me about this job opportunity. I applied for the job and was selected a month later, after loads of interviews and tests.

“Are you ready?”, Kavya asked me.

“Of course!”, I replied.

“Prinku, I’ll introduce you to our boss. Come!”, Kavya said and lead me towards a cabin.

Kavya cleared her throat and knocked on the door, “May we come in, Sir?”

A voice called out, “Come in!”

I shivered as the voice was familiar, extremely familiar but I ruled out those thoughts and Kavya and I walked in. A tall and thin man stood in front of them checking a few files with his back facing us. He turned.

Kavya said, “Prinku, this is our boss, Mr. Ranveer Singh Randhawa! Sir, this is Priyanka Oberoi!”

I stepped back with tears in my eyes. Ranveer was shocked to see me. The files in his hand fell to the ground with a thud. I shook my head and ran away.

Why? Why did I have to meet him after so many years? Why did my past have to confront me and slap me in the face? I had tried to forget him, I had succeeded after many attempts, why did he have to come back in my life again?

Ranveer’s POV

Prinku! After so many years! Oh god! She is the new secretary, Kavya was talking about! How will I face her? I can’t show my face to her after what I’ve done! She would despise me! I never thought I would ever meet her again!

I paced up and down in exasperation. I didn’t know what to expect. I was certain of the fact that Priyanka wouldn’t take up the job if I was her boss. However, I felt so bad about what had happened years back. I had hurt her to an extent to which I didn’t deserve her forgiveness! I didn’t expect her to come back and take up the job. It was good for me, I wouldn’t have to face her and feel guilty every single day.

Priyanka’s POV

“What happened, Prinku? Why did you run away like this?”, Kavya asked me.

“Kavya, I can’t do this job!”, I sobbed.

“Why not?”, Kavya asked concerned.

“I can’t tell you all of that. I’ll make a quick call. Ok?”, I said.

Kavya nodded, “Ok!”

I called Shivaay Bhaiya.

He picked up, “Hi Prinku! Anything urgent?”

“Bhaiya! I met him today!”, I said in one go.

“Him?”, Bhaiya questioned.

”Ranveer!”, I answered.

“How did you meet him?”, Bhaiya asked.

“Bhaiya, Kavya told me that there was a job opportunity at XYZ company, so I applied for a job here. It turns out that I will be secretary to Ranveer! Bhaiya, I’m not going to take up this job!”, I answered.

“No, Prinku! Take up the job!”, Bhaiya said.

I was shocked, “Bhaiya?”

“Show Ranveer that you are strong, that you are not the nervous and shy Priyanka he knew, you are a bold Priyanka!”, Bhaiya replied.

“Thank you so much Bhaiya. I will take up this job! Bye!”, I said.

“Bye!”, Bhaiya said.

I wiped my tears and rose. I resolved to be strong, to overcome all the challenges that came my way and show Ranveer that I wasn’t the naive and nervous Priyanka he thought I was.

I knocked on Ranveer’s door.

“Come in!”, he called out.

I walked in to find Ranveer sitting on the table and Kavya apologizing to him for the way I had run away.

“Prinku?”, Ranveer asked.

“Priyanka, sir!”, I said.

“Why are you calling me sir and why did you come back?”, Ranveer asked looking into my eyes.

“Sir, I’ve decided to take up this job!”, I dropped the bomb.
