Baji tells his soldiers to not insult Mastani as she is a brave woman, she even freed me from this trouble. She didn’t care who I am but she helped me out. She waited for me, she loved me for 16 years even without seeing me. The soldier says don’t forget that you are still a Peshwa and we have to go back. Baji says I will say goodbye and then we will leave.
Mastani looks at Baji’s portrait and says we are connected by pain too. Her parents come there. Her father says why did you do that? I am old and your brothers are thirsty for your blood. Baji comes there but hides. Ruhaani says only Baji can save you, you should leave from here. Ruhaani asks Mastani why the one who married you didn’t accept you? I know you love me but I understand your ties. I know you can’t marry me but at least acknowledge my love and respect it.
Mastani’s brother Yuvraj says that I have to finish Mastani as she is bringing shame to us. He takes his sword and is moving towards her room. His father stops him. Yuvraj says Mastani is your mistake but I will end her life today. His father tries to stop his force but they throw him away and march towards Mastani’s room.
Mastani tells Baji that I freed you in the courtroom so I am not asking for any promises but I just want you to acknowledge our love, it won’t end lives. Baji smiles and holds her hand. He says whatever you said.. I think.. Matank comes there running and says Mastani’s brothers are coming to kill her. Baji says what? I won’t spare them. Mastani smiles and says you care for me so much? Baji says I have to stop them. Mastani says no, you have to answer me first. I don’t care even if death is near, I want to hear a confession from you. Baji looks on.

Even though I loved Deepika at the time, I was not a fan of her during Bajirao Mastani. Despite all the valor and sequences used to amplify her beauty, I could only see her as the other women. I felt for Kashi then and I feel for her now. She was the real Maratha women, she had class, dignity, strength and respect. Despite everything she took care of Mastani’s child as her own post her death. I really hope this show does justice to her character and we see more of her than Masthani and Bajirao.
