Episode 25

With her eyes closed in sleep… and her mind partially awake, Pragya adjusted her head on the pillow several times, trying to get comfortable. This damn pillow is so hard, she thought. She pounded it with her fist, trying it soften it up a bit.
“What the —? Ouch!” she heard in her drowsy state.
What was that?
She lifted her head and turned it a bit, her eyes opening just a fraction. The first thing she saw was Abhi…
What? She thought drowsily. That can’t be. Wasn’t the door locked? Maybe she was still dreaming…
She laid her head back on the pillow, trying to get back to sleep.
She pounded the pillow once again with her fist…using a little more force this time. “Oouchhh! Fuggi, will you stop that!” she heard again.
Fuggi? She thought. That word sounded so familiar…. She opened her eyes as her brain kicked into gear.
Abhi!
Her eyes widened, as she slowly came to the realization that her head was not on a pillow….it was on his chest! No wonder the pillow was so hard, she thought.
She could feel his heartbeat close to her ear.
Her hand lay on his stomach, while one of her leg was thrown over his…his arm wrapped around her. How the hell did they end up like this? she wondered. She remembered locking the door before coming to bed…how did he get in here? She removed her foot from his and tried to shift out of his embrace, but Abhi pulled her back to him…. “Good morning, sweetheart!” he said, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
She wiped her cheek and glared angrily at him. “What the hell are you doing here?!” she asked. “Is that anyway to speak to your husband?!” he asked, feigning shock.
“And on such a beautiful morning too!” he added, pointing to the sunlight outside the open curtains. “What are you doing here, Abhi?” she repeated, trying her best to contain her temper. “Can’t a man sleep next to his wife without being interrogated?” he asked, innocently.
Omg! Pragya thought. He could be so infuriating sometimes!
He looked at her facial expression.
“Awww…you look so cute when you’re angry like this.” he said, pinching her cheeks. She swatted his hand away.
“You know what…never mind.” she said.
It was useless to talk to him right now! He would only reply to her questions with silly answers. She got out of bed and headed straight for the door.
“Where are you going, my love?” he called, teasing her.
“Away from you!” she said and left the room.

Pragya entered their room with Abhi stepping in just behind her.
She turned and saw him.
“Why are you following me?” she asked.
“I’m not following you. This is my room. I can come here whenever I want.” he said childishly.
“Fine!” she answered.
“Are you always this grouchy when you wake up in the morning?” he asked.
“No” she said. “I have a special reason today.”
Before he had time to question her further, Dadi came in.
“Good morning, children! How are the bride and groom this morning?” she asked cheerfully.
What’s up with Dadi? Pragya wondered. She was smiling like a kid in a candy store.
Abhi could see Fuggi’s expression.
She might be confused by Dadi’s behavior, but Abhi knew exactly why she was so happy.
He came and stood close to Pragya and put his arm around her shoulder.
Dadi’s smile grew even wider.
“We’re good, Dadi…really good.” Abhi replied for the both of them.
Pragya looked up at him and then at Dadi.
Am I missing something here?
“Well that’s really good to hear, Beta.” Dadi said, beaming at them.
“Actually, I came to inform you that Indu and Swarna will be arriving later today. They didn’t think they would make on time, but as they’ve already missed the wedding, I insisted on them being here for the reception.” Indu Dasi and Swarna Dasi…Dadi’s younger sisters.
Two old ladies who bickered all the time, yet,there was nothing but love in their squabbles. It had been so long since they visited.
Abhi and Pragya missed them terribly.
“That’s great, Dadi!” Abhi said. “It’s been so long since we’ve seen them. Missed their cute little quarrels.” “I almost forgot about that.” Dadi said. “Now I will have to become a referee again.”
“Ok, it’s getting late.” She continued. “…and there are still so many things to do. You both get ready and come downstairs, while I go check on the arrangements. ”
“Dadi, please take it easy.” Pragya said. “Don’t overwork yourself.”
“I’m fine, dear.” she replied. “Besides…this might be the only chance I get to do all this again…who knows when Akash, Aliya or Purab will decide to get married.”
“Don’t worry Dadi, they will surely get married.” Abhi said. “…even if I have to find their spouses myself.” “Why should I be the only one to suffer?” he added jokingly.
Dadi and Pragya looked at him.
“Make your jokes, dear.” Dadi said. “But you know you can’t do without your wife.” Abhi and Pragya felt a little awkward at her remark.
He immediately removed his hand from Fuggi’s shoulder.
Dadi saw their shyness and smiled.
“Okay, I better go now. You two.. get ready!”
And then Dadi left.

“What was that all about?” Pragya asked as soon as Dadi left.
Abhi knew what what she was referring to, but still chose to feign innocence. “What are you talking about?” he asked, avoiding her gaze.
“That look between you and Dadi.” she said.
“What look?” he asked.
“Like you both know something that I don’t.”
“You’re imagining things” Abhi replied.
“Oh…” she said. “So did I imagine your arm around me as well?”
Which time? Abhi wondered. In bed…or just now?
He decided to go with the one just now. It was safer, he decided.
“Oh come on, Fuggi.” he said. “That was just for Dadi’s benefit. We have to act married for the family’s sake , remember?” “So, where were the family members this morning…when you were in bed with me?” she asked. And there it was…Abhi thought.
How was he going to answer this one?

Hey guys!

No matter how hard I’ve tried to upload on time, there’s always some distraction that keeps me from updating regularly.
And because I’ve given extremely late updates, I am being punished by my cutie-pie sis, Asmithaa(hope you feel better soon!).
I’ve already reached double punishment level(next epi) I’m trying my best to atone for my “misdeeds” and avoid triple punishment lol. So I should be updating a little more regularly from now on…(not daily)
