Falling In Love…….

Karthik’s POV.

“Can you believe it ?!!” She shouted to someone over the phone.

I was startled by hearing the loud scream in a ‘keep calm’ place like hospital. I gave a ‘ you are weirdo’ look to the giant figure in front of me.

“Yup, I have finally lost it.” she screamed over the phone, literally jumping up and down.

Just then I noticed her features –bouncing black wavy hair in a loose pony, widened dark brown orbs, chubby cheeks, heart shaped lips. She looked beautiful in a plain pink kurta and black leggings even though she was overweight. The jhumkas that she was wearing started shaking as she moved here and there is excitement.

“Mam, please keep quiet. It’s a hospital”, The receptionist said while she just stuck out her tongue after the receptionist warned her and turned around.

She sat right next to me. Her excitement and happiness was what attracted me towards her. She was this bouncing ball of cuteness and jollyness.

“I lost 3 kgs, mumma. Now I am just 71 Kgs” She said over the phone, looking at the paper in her hand.

I chuckled at that and tried hard not to laugh. The instant She turned to me, I acted as if I had chuckled reading a funny text in my phone.

She wouldn’t be more than 25 years old. At her age, every other girl was dieting to mantain their perfect body but here she was happy that she was just 71 kgs. Unbelievable weirdo.

Just then I was called in the doctor’s cabin and I left after diverting a smile at her. She smiled back and waved. It was unbelievable at the tunning we had even though both of us rarely knew each other.

I happened to see her again in a week as an intern working under me at my office . As we started spending time together, I realised that she was streetsmart. Being a trainee she was capable of solving every technical problem that ever took place in the office.

I started falling for her more and more as each day passed. I realised that it was love at first sight but then the feeling only grew deeper and deeper as every moment passed by.

Also She wasn’t at all insecure about her appearance. That’s what I liked the most about her. Being over weight in a world where outer experiences mattered the most was very hard. But she was always so confident and strong with the way she was.

Time flies so quickly. In a blink, two years passed and I started to love her. I started to love Naira. My Naira !!

I gave her many hints that I love her. I didn’t know whether she understood it from my behavior or not because, her behavior towards hasn’t been changed. She seemed to ignore the feelings I had displayed infront of her.

So I gathered my courage to propose her. I practiced many times while bathing, eating, driving, working and almost while I did everything, repeating the lines again and again.

As a golden opportunity, her birthday was nearer and I planned to make that day a special one. It would be todat that I will propose her.

I sent a birthday cake for her, sharply at 12 AM. Then in the morning, As every hour passed I sent a gift for her like her portrait, chocolates, teddy, greeting cards and some other stuff that she liked.

She on the other hand didn’t know who sent them. I had written “Secret Admirer” on every gift that I had sent her. Finally, I wrote the message, “Wanna know who I am, meet me at the lakeside park at 7pm” on the last gift that I sent her.

I wore a red shirt, which she liked and paired it with my denim jeans. I over loaded myself with all the perfume that I had and finally drove to the lakeside park.

I prayed to god while waiting for her. I spotted her at some distance and stood up from the bench that I was sitting on. The smile which started to appear on my face gradually faded away as she was accompanied by Rithvik. He was our colleague and worked with us in the same office.

Naira had a huge crush on him, she had told me about it several times. As they walked forward, she saw me and was surprised. She waved at me and walked towards me as Rithvik excussed himself to attend a call.

“Hey, Karthik. What are you doing here ?!!” She asked.

“Happy Birthday, Naira !!” I said and hugged her. She hugged me back and then moved away after sometime.

“You know what I got a cake today at midnight. I also got so many gifts in the entire day. And you know, I got a gift almost every hour of the day.” She said excitedly.

I just smiled at her. This was the perfect moment to propose her.

“I think Rithvik has sent those gifts because I got a message to come here on my last gift. I meet him here so I think its him.” Naira said and her eyes twinkled.

Ohkay I know many of you were not expecting this. But this idea was running in my mind since a long time and therefore I couldn’t do without writting it down.

Its a very short story. Of about 3 or 4 Shots. Also its partially inspired from the movie ‘Dum laga ke haisha’. But don’t worry the story won’t be same as what happened in the movie.
