Chapter 47
Forgiveness is the best revenge.
Naira was all confused about her feelings. Normally, any girl would burst into tears with the amount of anger or pain or shock that she was suffering through but she was not experiencing anything as such.
In fact she felt bad for Rithvik. What she had said to him was right, he was a brilliant student who can make wonders if he uses his talent in a right way but instead he used it to get her. He had hurt her in the most miserable way.
Tears bubbled in her eyes as she recalled the whole incident. How can she explain him that she never felt that way ?!! She never loved him.
How can she make him realize what a wonderful personality he had underneath the pyscho ?!! Will she be able to show him the light or drown herself to death for his obsession ?!!
And then, thee was another part of her feeling guilty for his state. In a way, she was the reason for his state. It was because of her that he had turned into this horrible person.
When Naira heard someone’s foot steps approaching, she wiped the tears away and turned to face the night sky from the balcony. She didn’t want to worry any of her family members.
Before she could see him, she felt his presence, her husband’s presence. He came and stood behind her. She almost gently leaned onto him. Her body was responding to his presence.
Karthik’s throat went dry seeing her face. He was never good at comforting others in times like this, so he kept silent. Each time he saw her face, flashes of previous event came to his mind. Her horrified face and her pained eyes were torturing him.
Naira turned to him with a faint smile on her lips to flaunt her bravery but Karthik didn’t fail to notice her wince, as she remembered something. For a few minutes, they stared into each other’s eyes and Naira got the reassurance in his gaze that she wanted.
The promise, comfort and love was what she wanted and Karthik was ready to give it. This time, it brought a genuine smile to her face. Karthik also smiled at her. His sherni was something he should be proud of.
Karthik put a hand around her shoulder and walked her towards their bed. He made her sit down and and looked at her wrists which were bleeding. He took out the glass peices of bangles which were stuck on the wound.
Naira didn’t even flinch or hissed at it because she had suffered through more pain today. Karthik took out the first aid box and started bandaging her wrists. When he was done he made her lay down on the bed.
Karthik immediately came around and slid in next to her. He again took her into his arms and kissed her on her forehead. Naira just snuggled more into his side.
“Don’t worry. You are safe now. I will make sure that Rithvik will be punished for what he did.” Karthik assured her.
While Naira just smiled at him weakly.

Every member of the Goenka Mansion was waiting in the hall for Karthik and Naira’s arrival. Rithvik was standing in the middle of the room with his head hung low.
The foot steps of the couple pierced the silence as they walked towards the hall. When Rithvik lifted his head, he came in direct eye contact with Naira. She was looking at him sternely and all the fear had disappeared.
“I am sorry Naira. I know that what I have done yesterday is unforgivable. I just…you were… I don’t know !! I am totally and madly in love with you thats why…..” Rithvik started to say but Naira cut him off mid sentence.
“Seriously Rithvik ?!! Is this your definition of love ?!!” Naira asked him in a taunt.
“I behaved like an Idiot, Naira but you have no right to insult what I feel for you. You have already degraded my love for you by marrying Karthik. I have actually workshipped you all these years and when I found that you….you were married, I just couldn’t think straight.” Rithvik argued.
“And so you thought that yesterday’s stunt of yours would prove your love for me ?!! How many times am I supposed to tell you that I am not the one for you. I understand that you loved me and I would have seriously appreciated it if you had moved on at least after knowing that I didn’t even stop a second in my life to look back at you.” Naira said.
“If I wouldn’t have acted smartly and bravely yesterday, my life would have ended up completely being dark and you are just apologizing for it ?!!” Naira almost shouted now. She was getting angrier by the minute.
Rithvik pressed his lips into a thin line. What she said was correct and he didn’t have any answer to it. He was ashamed for what he did, with the girl he loved the most.
“I am sorry for not keeping my promise but please understand that I too have a life now with people who love me. I never intended to fulfill that promise. Do you think that I will be able to live happily with you even if I don’t reciprocate a single feeling you have for me ?!! I don’t love you back. You need to move on, Rithvik !!” Naira said.
She glanced around the hall with everyone looking at her. When her eyes locked with her father in law, she knew what she has decided for Rithvik was correct. Manish gave her a small smile to encourage her.
“I forgive you Rithvik.” Naira declared and Everyone looked at her shockingly.
SHE FORGAVE HIM !! Even Rithvik could not believe his ears. Inspite of scaring her, she simply forgave him and that thought pestered him. He caould not meet anyone’s gaze as he was loathing his existence.
“What ?!! Why ?!!” Karthik yelled angrily but Naira didn’t even flinch.
“Because forgiveness is the best revenge !!” Naira stated casually.
Without uttering a word, Rithvik left the place with his head hung low while Naira walked towards their bedroom in silence. Karthik was still angry at Naira for forgiving Rithvik.
Even though majority of the family members didn’t like her decision, everyone left it on Naira because it was her place to decide.
