Chapter 43
He was her comfort !!
Karthik walked towards Naira and Rithvik. Naira’s heart started racing as he came closer to her. Its not like she doesn’t trust him but for some reason, she didn’t want him to know about Rithvik’s obsession for her.
As Karthik reached them he smiled at her and turned to Rithvik who was holding his breath and looked scared. Karthik took hold of one of the heavy bags that Naira was holding.
“What a pleasant surprise, Rithvik !!” Karthik said shifting his attention towards him.
Rithvik visibly relaxed, so did Naira. It meant that Karthik didn’t listen to the conversation between her and Rithvik. Naira finally breathed a sign of relief.
“I had some work around the corner, so I offered help to Naira when I saw her. She denied. So I am just trying to convince her.” Rithvik said while Karthik raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“I am here now, you don’t need to worry about her. Get into the car Naira.” Karthik said and Naira walked towards their car.
Rithvik prayed to god that Naira looks back at him once but that didn’t happen. She just straight away headed towards the car with the bag of vegetables in her hand. Karthik turned back to Rithvik, pinning him with a deathly glare that made Rithvik gulp in fear.
“Stay away from my wife, otherwise it won’t take long for me to forget that you are my business partner.” Karthik warned him. Rithvik just slightly nodded his head.
With that warning, Karthik went to his car and Rithvik watched them till the car disappeared with his pissed off glare.
Karthik and Naira drove to Goenka Masion in complete silence. Both of them were lost in their own thoughts.
As they reached home, Karthik asked Naira to go to their room and freshen up. He picked up the bags to keep them in the kitchen. After keeping the vegetables in the kitchen, he headed to their room.
Karthik entered their bedroom and saw Naira involved deeply in her thoughts. This one month, he had always felt worried about her condition but everything became clear today. He had heard the conversation between her and Rithvik.
But still, she was not ready to open up herself and it annoyed him to no extent. He wondered if she would have ever told him, had he not come to know about it today. Doesn’t she trust him ?!!
“What’s the problem Naira ?!!” He asked walking towards her. She was seated on her side of the bed and was looking into distance.
“Uhh….nothing.” She simply shrugged faking a smile but soon understood that he is not going to give up that easily today.
“Don’t you trust me ?!!” He asked her.
“What are you even talking about ?!!” Naira asked looking at Karthik in the eye. She knew that he was hurt but she didn’t have any choice.
“Its Rithvik, right ?!!” Karthik asked, staring right back at her.
Naira’s eyes widened at his words. It means that he had heard everything. She opened her mouth to explain herself but Karthik interrupted her.
“You have started behaving oddly from the day you saw him and I observed you being silent and moody in his presence. I also heard some bits of your conversation today. He was your lover in college, right ?!! Of whom you were afraid of ?!!” Karthik asked.
Naira exhaled the breath she had been holding all the while but she understood that she can’t keep him in dark for anymore time. She needed to tell him the truth today.
“Yes. He was the same boy.” Naira said.
“You don’t have to worry or stress about it anymore. I will talk to papa and we will cancel the deal with his company. I promise you that you won’t have to face him one more time.” Karthik said.
“No Karthik. I don’t want you to change your professional decisions because of me. Its not that he had made a pass at me or something. Its me who is disturbed and I will sort it out.” Naira argued.
“But Naira…….” Karthik started to say but was cut off by her.
“Please promise me that you won’t do any such thing which would affect your business.” Naira said.
“Ohkay. But even you need to promise me that you would tell me when he does anything out of line. You won’t hide it from me next time.” Karthik said. Naira nodded her head.
Even after their talk, Karthik observed that Naira was still disturbed and tense. He couldn’t see her like this. She was his sunshine on dark days, always smiling. He needed to do something.
“Is there anything that I can do to make you happy ?!!” Karthik asked.
Naira looked at him for a minute and then said, ” Just hold me tonight.”
Karthik obliged her request and moved towards her. He took her in his arms and she automatically leaned more into him. She could hear his serene heart beat as her head rested on his chest.
Slowly Naira’s eyes dropped and she fell into the deep slumber. Karthik stared at her perfect features as she lay in his arms peacefully. He hoped that everyday would start and end like this.

Here is another late update for you all. I hope you all liked it. And I am sorry for making you wait. My college was only till afternoon today so I managed to write this and upadte it. If possible will start with the next Chapter today itself and post it.
The next Chapter will have Naira planning a surprise for Karthik and confessing her love for him. But stay tuned to know if that really happens.
