Chapter 26
When emotions mess up your head.
Naira turned to the clock for the hundredth time as it struck 11:00 pm. She didn’t even know why she was so worried ?!!
The door of their room opened slowly and relief washed through her when she saw Karthik entering the room with two plates in his hands.
“Why didn’t you call me since morning ?!!” she asked him in a vulnerable voice.
He gasped at her almost broken voice. She was worried for him. It was the last thing he expected from her.
“I was just…busy.” Karthik said calmly.
Naira sighed and grabbed plate from his hand.He smiled to himself occasionally seeing her all worked up. When she raised her eyebrows, he remained quiet.
“So, you were tensed because I didn’t call you ?!!” Karthik asked after they both finished their dinner.
Naira was startled by his words. Irritation flushed through her body for his ability to read her. On the contrary even she didn’t knew as to why was she soo tense and worried.
“Bhabi said that you didn’t even eat your dinner and was waiting for me.” Karthik teased her more.
“Yeah. That’s because it’s my responsibility. I don’t want to be the bad and selfish wife who doesn’t care for her husband. Atleast not in front of family.” Naira defended herself.
Her words stabbed him for an unknown reason. He knew she cared for him. Then what was the problem in accepting it ?!! Or was she faking it ?!!
“Is that the only reason ?!!” He asked, his voice deep and broken.
“Yes. Please don’t over imagine anything beyond that. For me, you are always…” She trailed off and stood up to walk to the door but slipped and fell down.
Karthik didn’t went to her rescue because the previous conversation was eating him up for some unknown reason. He had started considering her as his friend and even wanted to give their relationship a chance. Naira glared at him and shook her head.
“What type of a man are you, Karthik ?!!” She shouted bringing him back to his senses. He then noticed her and walked two steps towards her.
“Firstly, you don’t have the sense of informing me at morning that you will be late and then you are not even helping me now. I fall down and all you do is zone out in your own world.” Naira spoke at length.
Karthik forwarded his hand towards her as she was still sprawled over the floor. But Naira declined his help and got up on her own.
“I don’t understand why are you angry at me ?!!” Karthik asked.
Naira only glared at him. How can he even ask that ?!! Wasn’t she important to him ?!! Couldn’t he see how worried she was for him the whole day. Just because he was busy and didn’t even feel the need to call her.
“Wow !! So you don’t even know why I am angry now !!” Naira spewed.
Karthik had started getting irritated now. He had a busy day in office and was really tired. He had no energy left to fight with her now. He knew that it was his mistake but he really was busy today.
“You know what let’s forget it.” Karthik said.
“Yeah. Easy for you to say.” Naira replied smugly. She was literally boiling with anger.
“Why are we even talking about this ?!!” Karthik spoke exhausted.
“Right. Why did we even get married ?!! I would have preferred dying than to spend my life like this !!” Naira shouted and regretted it the moment those words left her mouth.
Throwing a death glare at her, Karthik stromed out of the room grabbing his car keys. Naira stared at the door still panting with anger.
She knew it was her fault but she was just a mess of emotions right now. She was nowhere close to understanding other person’s point of view.
Just a few minutes after the fight, tears kept flowing from her eyes. It’s not that she was happy taunting him but everything happened so quick that she blurted out many things which she shouldn’t have.
But she was frustrated when he spoke about her missing him. She is afraid that she may melt for him which she really didn’t want to. She knew he was stuck at his first wife and would never accept their marraige whole heartedly.

The next morning, Naira opened her eyes and turned to other side of the bed. Relief washed over her when she saw Karthik sleeping beside her. She smiled to herself like a mad girl and made her way to the balcony.
A few minutes later, Karthik streched his body and without even bothering to look at the other side of the bed, he went to the washroom to freshen up.
When Naira came inside, she was surprised to see Karthik dressed in formals because it is just 7:15 am. Without looking at her, he stepped out of the room slamming the door behind him.
Naira flinched at its sound. She thought that he will forgive her as always but now she understood that she hurted him, a lot and there is only one way to rectify it.
She went downstairs within fifteen minutes after getting fresh but was totally disappointed as Karthik had already left for office.
“Did anything happen between you two ?!! He skipped his breakfast today.” Suvarna Maa asked her.
Deep inside, Naira felt bad but she plastered a fake smile on her face. She didn’t want the family to worry because of their fight.
“Nothing maa, I think he is busy with work. Don’t worry.” Naira assured her mother in law.

Naira is all messed up because of her emotions and feelings so she vented out all her anger on Karthik. She wants to accept him but she is afraid whether he will accept her or not. But don’t worry, the fight will be over soon.
The next Chapter will have a Sasur and bahu convo where in Naira will get a clue as to why Naitik forced her into getting married to Karthik.
