Hello Everyone.
Chapter 11
The letter.
Akshara had been busy with her household chores when the door bell rang. She opened the door to find the postman chacha standing at the doorstep.
“Akshara beti, there’s a letter for you today.” The postman chacha said and took out a white envelope from his bag and handed it to akshara.
“Thank you, chacha.” Akshara said and took the letter.
She closed the door and came inside the kitchen. She exahaled a deep breath after turning off the gas. She looked at the envelope to know who had sent the letter. But there was no name or address on it. She opened the envelope and unfolded the letter.
Dear Mumma,
I miss you all a lot. Its been two years but it feels like two hundred without all of you. I know you are angry with me and you have the whole right to be. I am sorry for what I have done.
But today I couldn’t stop myself from writing this. I just wanted to tell you all that I am going to become a dad now. My wife is expecting our first baby. As soon as I got this news, I couldn’t help myself from informing all of you.
I hope you would forgive me and accept me along with my small family now. I want my child to have a family as lovely as ours.
I will be waiting for your call.

A tear escaped her eyes and Akshara headed towards their bedroom. She immediately bolted the door behind her. Tears kept flowing down her eyes. She glanced at the family photo kept near the dressing table and closed her eyes.
“Its been enough time now. No matter what he did, Naksh is my son. I have forgiven him long back. Also now he is becoming a dad. I am going to be a grandmom. I need to talk to Naithik about this. We need to get Naksh back to the house along with his wife and my grand child.” She said to herself and made a resolve to get her son back in the house.

Naira came to her room but a bit disturbed because she didn’t see Karthik at dining table today. She sighed and buried her face in the pillows. She was tired with all the hopping around the house. Though suwarna maa and Vrushika bhabi had made sure that she wouldn’t do any work, yet she was tired just by moving around.
She closed her eyes when the soft silk of the bedsheet laid on their bed touched her back. As she was about to slip in the deep slumber, she was disturbed by a knock on the door. She immediately got out of the bed and walked towards the door and twisted the knob to open it. To her surprise, it was Shantanu bhai.
“Can I come inside ?!!” He asked her still standing at the doorstep.
“Yes, Sure.” She nodded her head and hopped towards the bed. Shantanu bhai came inside and closed the door behind him. He came and sat next to her on the bed.
“Karthik will be coming late in the night today. There’s an important meeting he has tomorrow and thus he is looking after the preparations. He asked me to inform you.” He said and Naira nodded.
Shantanu bhai took a deep breath and looked at her with pained eyes. She looked back at him and could feel that he was battling with his innerself. She wondered what was bothering him so much.
“ I came here to talk to you about Karthik.” He said finally.
“Karthik ?!!” She asked, confused.
“Yes. I heard him singing yesterday. He had quit singing after he got divorced with Gayatri. But when I heard him last night, I felt really happy. He is slowly coming back to being himself and I just want to thank you for it. I don’t know why you agreed for this marraige but I want you to accept this relationship as well.” He said slowly. When he got no reply from her, he continued.
“I know that its very difficult for you to accept Karthik along with his past but remember one thing, only you can make him human again.” He said.
“Me ?!!” Naira asked.
“Yes. He had bitter experiences with his first love which made him a robot. I saw him as a chirping bird once and I want to see him like that again. Gayatri spoiled his life but I want you to be the rain blossoming life in him. We tried our best but now, if he needs anyone, then it is you. Only you.” He said further.
“I understand your point bhai, but….” She started to say but he cut her off.
“I know, I know that your rain will have no effect as his heart is a dessert now but I want you to convert that land into a fertile one. Please Naira, our family will be owed to you for life time if you succeed in this.” He said and kept a hand on her shoulder to convince her.
“You might hate him for what he is now, a non emotional person but I have seen his other side which you havent. He is really a loving and caring person but, that girl has ruined him, she had hurted him so badly that he even attempted to end his life.” Shantanu bhai said in a broken voice.
Naira opened her mouth wide. She was shocked , would be an under statement. She could almost imagine a vulnerable Karthik trying to harm himself. She didn’t know why, but the thought itself made her cringe. She was not at all happy with the image.
“Suicide ?!!” She asked in a whisper.
“Yes, just before two weeks from your engagement, he called me at midnight and said that he loved all of us a lot and had given us enough pain. So he decided to end this game as he lost the battle of life. I asked him not to take any stupid decision but he ignored me and asked me to take care of our family and then his mobile went off.” He said and his eyes welled up and he stared into the darkness reminicing the day.
“Only I know how hard I tried to stop him. I prayed to God to save his life and after few minutes I got a call from his number and the watchman of his office said that he found Karthik trying to jump from the building but he saved him at the correct time.” Shantanu sniffed and looked at Naira.
“Karthik was not that kind of boy who would accept his defeat even in small things but ending his life may be the example for the pain he went through. I want you to heal him. Promise me that you will do it. You will make him a living person and bring him back from the dead that he lives in right now.” He said forwarding his hand towards Naira.
It’s was a tough situation for her now. Of course she is aware of the fact that her husband had a bitter experience but she never dreamt of him attempting a suicide. She had developed a small liking for Karthik and she was even phisically attracted towards him but this promise held a lot of importance.
Many lives and many people’s happiness was depended on this promise. She was battling with herself whether she should agree or not.
Shantanu saw the battle going on in her eyes and he understood that it was equally difficult for her.
“It’s okay Naira. I can understand but please try.” saying this he stood up and looked her with hope in his eyes.
Naira smiled at him and nodded her head. Shantanu bhai kept a hand on her head lightly and swift it down. He then left the room.
As Naira sat there going through everything that was happening in her life she was distraught. She wishes she had bhai by her side right now to support her. Afterall Naira and Naksh were the best team to solve any problem.
She laid down on the bed and the image of previous night crawled through her mind. When both of them had lost their shred of control and kissed each other. She smiled an unknowing smile and slept peacefully.
