The Wedding Part 2
“What ?!!” Om shouted.
“Yes. It’s not in the store room.”Ishana said panicked.
“Did you check the Red box ?!! I told you, It was in a Red box.” Rudra asked, panic striking in.
Ishana gave him a ‘ Do you think I’m an idiot look’ .
“So now what are we going to do ?!!” Soumya asked.
Shivay tapped Om on the back and grinned at them.
“Awww… Look at your crestfallen face.” Shivay taunted.
“I think they have lost something.” Anika joined in the conversation, walking over to Ishana and putting an arm around her.
“Maybe it was a green box. No, Maybe red box, right ?!!”Shivay said futher adding fuel to the fire.
The ladkewalle gawked at him.
“I guess the box had something important in it. What could it be ?!!” Shivay said and acted as if thinking hard.
“I know !! It contains Karthik’s shoes. Am I right ?!!” Anika said and looked at the four people, who were speechless.
Shivay and Anika laughed at their expressions. Both of them began walking away from them but they caught up with Shivay and Anika.
“Where have you kept the box ?!!” Ishana asked.
“Yes, tell us right now.” Soumya added.
Shivay and Anika escaped from their grasps, winked at them and ran off. While Om, Ishana, Rudra and Soumya groaned in frustration.
At the mandap, Naira and Karthik were sitting taking quiet looks at each other. Suddenly, Karthik caught Naira peeping at him.
“Why are you looking at me ?!! I know I’m handsome. But I didn’t know that I was so irresistible.” He teased her.
“I wasn’t peeping at you.” She muttered embarrassed that she had been caught gawking at her own husband. Karthik gave her a look that implied that she had been caught in the act and there was no backing off now.
“Ok. Well. I was. But not because you’re handsome. I was staring at you because you’re a frog.” Naira stopped abruptly, realizing how lame her excuse sounded and began giggling. Karthik too began chuckling watching her.
Meanwhile, their wedding ceremony continued.
“We will perform the kanyadaan now. Please call the bride’s parents.” The pandit jii said.
Naira’s mumma came there and smiled sadly at her.
“Only if your dad was a good man, he would have been so happy. Just like I am.” Naira’s mom said, kissing Naira and Karthik on top of their heads.
Naira blinked back her tears and nodded at her. Mrs. Singhania took their hands and placed it together, performing the kanyadaan. The pandit jii uttered some more mantras and then announced that it is time for the pheras. Keerti chachi and Naksh chacha nodded and tied the knot. Naira and Karthik rose and held each other’s hands.
“First three pheras, the bride will be in front and the remaining, the groom.” The pandit jii said.
Naira locked her eyes with Karthik and they went around the fire, a silent promise in their eyes. As the pandit ji explained each phera, they never looked away from her each other’s gaze. They sat back down and Mrs. Singhania came to the mandap with a silver plate containing the mangalsutra and sindoor.
“Now, The groom will tie the mangalsutra on his bride.” The pandit jii said and handed over the mangalsutra to Karthik.
Karthik turned towards Naira and as everyone clapped, he accepted her as his.
“Now, Fill her maang with this sindoor.” The Pandit jii said. Anika came and lifted Naira’s hair ornament and Karthik applied the sindoor.
“From today you both are husband and wife. Each other’s better halves in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.” The pandit jii declared.
Karthik beamed at Naira who smiled back at him. Their happiness and content was clearly visible on their faces and they knew that their new journey had begun and now they would be the writers of their own love story.
“Now go and take everyone’s blessings.” The pandit jii said.
The newlyweds got up and took blessings from the pandit. Then from Naira’s mom and Karthik’s chacha- chachi. They hugged Anika, Ishana, Soumya, Shivay, Om, Rudra and everyone was happy. All the other guests came and congratulated the couple.
“So you are now officially Mrs Goenka. How do you feel ?!!” Karthik asked, when they were alone for sometime.
“Very bad.” Naira said putting on a sad expression.
“What ?!! Why ?!!” he asked shocked.
“Now I can’t flirt with anyone. Everyone will see the Mangalsutra and sindoor, and will call me aunty now.” She answered in a teasing tone. While Karthik pouted his lips at her answer.
“For the last 10 minutes that I have been Mrs Goenka, I feel exquisite.” She answered and they both smiled. Mrs. Singhania joined them.
“Lets start the ritual of bidaai ?!!” She asked both of them.
“Is it really necessary ?!! Can’t I go back home with you ?!!”Naira asked tearing up a bit.
“No Naira !! Anyway I would be coming with both of you to Delhi, its just until you are staying in Udaipur. Come now, we will complete the ceremony now.” Naira’s mumma said.
“No Mausii, we won’t.” Anika shouted.
Naira’s mom turned around in surprise to look at Anika and Shivay standing there with smiles on their faces.
“Yes aunty, we won’t let Naira go with Karthik. First, he has to give us our due.” Shivay said.
“But he has already given you your gift, right ?!!”Naira’s mumma said.
“That was for allowing him to marry my sister. Now, This is to let him take her home.” Anika said. Then she and Shivay went and brought Karthik’s shoes along with them.
“Alright.” Karthik said and took out his wallet. He gave money to Anika and Shivay as well as to Om, Ishana, Soumya and Rudra.
“Why us ?!!” Rudra asked confused.
“For being there for me. Always. I know I don’t have to give money. But…” Karthik said but was cut off in between.
“We understand.” Om said and hugged him. They were later joined by Rudra, Ishana and Soumya.
“Are we going to finish the rest of the ceremonies or not ?!! Karthik, Shall we just sit around and talk ?!!” Keerti Chachi asked.
“No. No. Lets get this done with.” Karthik said hastily.
No matter how much he had wanted this wedding. But now he couldn’t wait to be with Naira alone in the confinement of their bedroom. He had waited too long for this night. He couldn’t wait anymore now.

I am sorry for the late update but then I had my orals going on so couldn’t post it earlier. Hope you all liked this Chapter.
So the wedding is over now. Their happily ever after coming up in the next Chapter. Will post that Chapter at night.
