Chapter 1
Karthik stood by the edge of the swimming pool. Taking a deep breath in, he dived in and swam the length of the pool. Back and forth he glided in the water. The cool water was his therapy to ease his tension from work so he swam lap after lap for the next thirty minutes.
As he emerged from the water, Ramu Kaka walked towards him and handed him a white fluffy towel to dry himself. He was a very respectable and loving person, Karthik had a deep admiration for him. Ramu Kaka had been serving the Goenka Family even before Karthik was born. Karthik always thought of him as a family member rather than a servant.
“Beta Manish Sir is waiting for you to join him for dinner.” Ramu Kaka said.
“Ohkay Kaka. Please tell him that I will change my clothes and join him in a minute.” Karthik said while drying his wet hair with the towel.
Karthik went to his room and changed into a white T-shirt and black track pants. As Karthik entered the dinning room after wearing a fresh and dry set of clothes, he saw his dad waiting for him.
“And I thought I would have to sleep on an empty stomach. You take even more time than girls do, to get ready.” Manish said as he saw his son sitting next to him on the dinning table.
“Sorry for making you wait, papa.” Karthik said as he poured himself a glass of water.
At the age of 65, Manish Goenka still looked handsome and lively as he used to during his youth. He single handedly raised his only son, Karthik after his wife, Suwarna died in a car crash. It was Karthik’s 10th birthday when Suwarna’s car met with a brutal road accident and she could not be saved.
Suwarna’s death affected the Goenka family very adversely. It was an emotional loss as well as a financial loss. She was the one who handled the business as she was damn good at it. After she passed away, Manish went into depression and the business had a huge downfall. That’s when Karthik decided to join the business and not let his mothers efforts go in vain.
Karthik was poised to head their large business empire after his mothers death. As a result, Karthik was forced to grow up fast and learn the business tactics. It wasn’t too hard for him as he had his mothers hardcore business skills running through his blood. He took over the complete control of the Goenka Jewels at the age of twenty one and became the CEO.
Manish lived in their family house which was located at the outskirts of the city while Karthik lived in a penthouse in the city itself as he had his business dealings there. Karthik would frequently visit his dad, who refused to shift with him as their family home contained the memories of Suwarna.
Whenever Karthik visited his dad, he would brief him about the business and ask his opinion before he took every major decision. Manish may be retired but his wisdom was still a great help to Karthik.
But tonight Manish did not seem to be interested in talking business. Karthik sensed some restlessness in his dad’s body language.
So he asked him, “What’s wrong dad ?!! You don’t seem yourself tonight.”
“It just occurred to me that all these years you never talked about your personal life. We just talk about business all the time. We are a family but we always talk like we are in office. So enough of business, lets talk about your life.” Manish said and flashed an indulgent smile.
“What do you want to talk about dad ?!!” Karthik asked. He was uncomfortable in discussing his love life with his dad.
“Well, for starters, have you had any serious relationship ?!!” Manish asked.
“No. I have just been fooling around here and there. Anyway dad, you know that I am not the commitment type of guy.” Karthik said.
After his mom had passed, Karthik had always tried to avoid all types of extreme emotions and not get attached with someone. His past experiences had been very hurtful.
“Its high time you think of settling down. Find yourself a good girl, fall in love and get married.” Manish suggested.
“I enjoy the freedom of being single and the last thing I would want in my life is an emotional baggage. Love brings in a lot of responsibility that I don’t want to take up.” Karthik said.

So here I am, with another new story. The plot of this story would be a bit Melodramatic and Filmy and also probably something you have already read or watched before. But trust me, it would be worth reading for.
Also the story has nothing to do with the movie apart from the title being similar. I would be updating new chapters on alternate days till the 15th of next month as I have my exams going on. So will post the second chapter on Friday.
PS : I have completed almost half of Chapter 47 (Together for a moment called Forever). Will post it tomorrow.
