CHAPTER 10

In hospital….

Meghna was ready to leave for Shimla, she was busy in hospital collecting Abhi’s reports, when Josphine got up and said…

Josphine: Where are you going Meghu?

Meghna: Shimla…..

Josphine: Why?

Meghna: To meet doctor for Abhi’s case…

Josphine: There are good doctors here too Meghu…..

Meghna: Ya I know but for my son I want the best…

Josphine: And may I know who this best doctor is?

Meghna: Come on Jo you always said that he is more of my son, so don’t you believe me I will get the best for him……

Josphine: Don’t you try to avoid this Maya….. I know what’s best for him is worst for you, and it will nearly kill you…… Please…

She knew whenever Jo called her Maya her old self she was in deep trouble….. But this was a battle she could not afford to lose…… she had to win…. The stakes were too high

Meghna: No Miss Josphine Mark just listen to me…… I have thought this over and there is no other option left and for Abhi I would not keep anything for option….. And on any given day I will choose him over anyone else, even myself…..

Josphine: Who knows this facts better than me, but I am just saying that you need not go there alone I will to come with you……… Please

Meghna: No Jo you need to be here with Abhi…… He needs his mother most at this time…. You have to be with him you have to be here for me…..

Josphine: He needs his mom more than he would need his maa….

Meghna: I know I am doing this for him…..

Josphine: But…..

Meghna: My decision is made Jo… there is no going back….

Josphine’s POV

Saying this Meghna just went from there. Josphine knew that she could not stop her, well nobody could stop Maya urf Meghna when she had had taken a decision….. She will never go behind her words or her promises even if she has to kill herself…… Who knew it better than her what can she do for Abhi…. She knew if there is even 1% chance for his survival Meghna would bet her life on it…… But still she thought she will never understand this mad girl who was more than a sister to an orphan like her……

Looking at Meghna’s determined steps Josphine remembered another Hospital scean where Josphine was as helpless and Meghna as determined…..

Flashback 6 years back…… Josphine’s

It was dirty and poorly lit corridor of a Government hospital in a village near Salem which the government has forgotten long ago. There was urine and medicinal smell all around, and a lone compounder was trying to cover it with equally bad phenol smell, it has been already 4 pm and it was raining heavily. The hospital roof was leaking and it seemed that instead of keeping rain out it was bringing more rain in. And on a lone hospital was lying a lady who was whimpering in pain, and doctor was still not in sight. Another lady was just walking impatiently asking about the where about of doctor losing patents with every minute. The lady on bed was Josphine and the lady waiting was Meghna. Josphine’s pain was becoming unbearable by each passing minute and Meghna was helpless, she tried all her medical knowledge but nothing seems to work….

Finally Meghna stopped shoughting and went to Josphine…. Kept her hand on her stomach and said

Meghna: Don’t worry Jo everything will be alright…. I will take care…. Nothing will happen to your child… I promise…. It’s the last pain you are suffering alone. You are here because of me and I will make the situation right…. Whatever be the cost….. From today its my child and I will protect him with my life

Saying this Meghna just went away from hospital in heavy rains like a mad women taking the compounder with her and she returned with a very scared doctor along with a child. Doctor just came and checked Josphine quickly with a panic written all over her face….. She just sends the compounder to her house to bring the IV bottle and gave the Josphine the drip. She prescribed her some medicine and referred her to Dr. Mahalaxmi Iyer in Chennai.

All the while the child was crying in Meghna’s arms but she was not ready to keep the child down…. Latter Josphine came to know that Meghna had gone to the doctor’s clinic threatened her, taken her child has hostage on a scalpel point and had brought the doctor there for Josphine…..

Josphine was really shocked over the behavior of her shy and innocent friend, but very little did she knew that her shy and innocent friend Maya had died somewhere in their journey and a stone hearted and fearless Meghna had been born who would stop at nothing specially for the child she was carrying…

End of Flashback…..

In hotel…..

Arjun had sent the entire information about the case to Dev Mehra. But he did not know why on getting the information he even asked for the personal information about the people involved. But since he had already asked Purab to prepare such file he had send that one too. Dev Mehra had not given him any confirmation but just informed him that he would be reaching Chennai by the next morning and requested him to arrange for his stay, which was rather strange, but the man himself was too strange for Arjun himself to handle. But as he sat in the hotel room without nothing much to do rather than waiting, his thoughts went back to another face that had haunted him for every day for last 3 years….

Flashback 4 years back…… Arjun’s

It was first day of new academic year in Chanakya Institute for Management Studies. A group of boys were sitting in cafeteria area of the college and raging the fresher’s. It was the seniors group and it was headed by the college heart rob Arjun Jha, who was the captain of college football team and being the son of famous Jha family a superstar in himself….

As the ragging was going on Arjun was just sitting in a corner in an uninterested way, it was his friend Ved Awasti who was really conducting the ragging. In middle this ragging section he just called a girl who was standing out of line and going in her own way…..

Ved: Hey… the girl in pink top come here..

Girl: Who me….( she asked looking around)

Ved: Yes you… Are you from first year?

Girl: Yes….

Ved: Then you need special invitation to come and stand here

Girl: Why must I stand here?

Ved: You will only when you get detailed notice…..

Girl: No but I don’t find any need to waste my time here. I have much work to do.

This conversation between them caught Arjuns attention who was till this time sitting bored in a corner. He looked at the girl who wore simple pink top and faded jeans but had a different aura around her. Her eyes had fire which Arjun had rarely seen in anyone, and he knew for a fresher to stand against Ved and his group it needed a special guts, he just wished to see how long this drama goes before she bends…

Ved: Ho you are much busy… Are you princess of some kingdom….

Girl: No but I rule myself. I am my own queen.

Ved: Ho so here comes the new queen of Chanakya Institute for Management Studies…. Guys just bow down to her….. And where is your dear king..

Girl: (Now irritated) I don’t think to be a queen one needs a king.

Arjun: Ho what’s a queen without her king….. Well for your information just nothing….

Girl: Well if historically speaking more powerful….

Arjun: Well may I know your highness name?

Girl: It’s Aparajeeta Boose….

Arjun was really impressed with this girl who stood up to him and his gang it was a first, but was miffed that she openly opposed him and for this she had to pay….

Arjun: Well for breaking the tradition you have to personally say sorry to each of your seniors

Aparajeeta: And if I refuse than….

Arjun: Than you will face consequences…

Aparajeeta: Well I am ready for that but wont apologies for no mistake of mine.

Arjun: Do you know who am I ?

Aparajeeta: No…

Arjun: I am Arjun Jha son of Mahender Verma Jha….. who is this college’s trusty

Aparajeeta: Well I am just Aparajeeta Boose, but yes I don’t need any tail behind my name to introduce myself. Well I am here on full scholarship and if you get me out of this college I have very good marks and can easily apply elsewhere so please keep your threats to yourself…

Arjun: Well w will see to that

Aparajeeta: Yes and what you are doing is raging and its criminal offence and I will complaint against you…

Arjun: Well Miss. Boose please go ahead…. I am scared.

Aparajeeta: Well you should be.

Just than the principal came and sensing the situation told everyone on their own way. The group was dispersed but not before the line of though not enmity but a stress was drawn. Which latter become a love story that everyone of the batch still remembers…. But unknown to any one more person’s pride was really hurt that day, and that was Ved Awasti who would change the course of this story…..

Flash back ends.

Soon Arjuns thoughts were disturbed by a knock on his door, it was none other than Purab his friend. As soon as Purab had come they started discussing the case and the arrangement needed for next day’s Dev Mehra’s arrival….
