CHAPTER 17

At Nest…..

TAMMANA’S POV

I was preparing for meeting with Dev form last night, I hadn’t slept a wink. Out of all the tension the only good news was that Dr. Kartik Khanna has agreed to take up Abhi’s case. It was really a huge relief. Don’t know how but Meghu did it again. This girl has the ability to make anything possible, but I am scared for the price she paid for it. No one is a saint here, and Dr. Kartik Khanna would be ready for his repayment along with interest, or rather revenge. God knows what that girl had got herself into. But bottom line is that she had brought him here, and I would be with her in all her decisions.

But now I have to face the devil himself, God know what he has to say in this meeting. He knows I am not seriously pursuing the case, then what’s his role……. I really don’t want to dug the old graves and bring the skeletons out; it would be painful for all. I had come a long way and I don’t want the shadow of my past to touch my present, I can’t lose myself again……

At hospital in Shimla……

Meghna had came to meet Kartik early in morning, he had not expected her so early….

Kartik: Hi……

Meghna: Hi…

Kartik: Well you are so early…

Meghna: I didn’t have much to do rather than meeting you…

Kartik: Well that feels good. For a change Maya Narang has me has her priority rather than herself. (Sarcastically)

Meghna: Kartik please…. Let’s be mature about it…..

Kartik: Fine you need maturity…. I would give that….

Meghna: Hmmmmm

Kartik: Well to look into your son’s case I have to come to Chennai leaving everything here. I will be in huge loses, as you know my appointment dairy is nearly full……

Meghna: Come to the point Dr.Kartik

Kartik: Well in that case to attend your son I need my fees in advance at least 25% here in cash…. (Looking into her eyes)

Meghna: How much? (Keeping a straight face)

Kartik: Well…..(thinking) 12.5 lakhs would be enough….

Meghna: 12.5 lakhs….. (A bit shocked)

Kartik: If you cannot give then…..

Meghna: Fine you would have the money. Give me time till evening…..

Kartik: Are you sure you can? (Surprised)

Meghna: Ya definitely. Be ready to go to Chennai by tomorrow. You are comfortable right….

Kartik: Well I did not tell you about my conditions…..

Meghna: Well fine then. What are they…..

Kartik: Get the cash first….

Meghna: Fine…. You want it in bank or as liquid cash….

Kartik: Cash…. (still not able to belive)

Meghna: Fine…. I will meet you in the evening.

As soon as Meghna left Kartik was in a shock. He had never believed that Meghna could arrange such cash in such short period. What was she actually to arrange this large amount at such short notice he really wondered.

MEGHNA’S POV

I was really divasted by Kartik’s demand; I had never thought that he would bargain with me keeping my son’s life at stake. Really he changed a lot, or was this change only for me. Well I think I have to pay for my deeds. Karma is really a b*t*h. Now to arrange this sum I have only Murli Anna to turn to. Please god let me arrange this cash, not for me but for Abhi…..

Unwillingly Meghna called Murli Anna, after several calls the phone was picked up by his loyal associate Hari. He told her Murli Anna was in a meeting and would call her back after it. After nearly 3 hours she got a call back….

Meghna: Hello Anna Meghna….

Murli Anna: Hello Meghu what matter…. You never call me in between my tour….. So I assume it’s not about silly matter….. Jo Behin  is also not picking up the call… Really what happened?

Meghna: Anna that…..

Murli Anna: Don’t go round round Straight to matter Meghu…

Meghna:  Well Anna I need 25 lakhs immediately in cash at Shimla…..

Murli Anna: What!!!! (Shocked)

Meghna:  Anna I said…

Murli Anna: I heard…. By why…. Immediate need

Meghna:  Anna Abhi met with an accident, he is in coma. Doctor who can bring him back is in Shimla, and demands this amount. I can’t turn to anybody else, I will return you this amount as soon as I reach back, but I need it urgently now, please Anna do anything…… (Almost crying)

Murli Anna: Aree don’t cry baba, Abhi is my child too….. you will get the money by evening any how. But tell me when the hell did this happen….

Meghna: 3 days ago…..

Murli Anna: And you are telling me now….. Dammmm(Shouting)

Meghna:  Sorry Anna. In all this fiasco I was not able to think straight….. I am sorry

Murli Anna: Ok I will see to it when you reach back. I will see how money could reach you now….

Meghna: Thank you Anna….

Murli Anna: Shut up! If you once again thank your brother I will kill you…. Understand and I am reaching Madras as soon as possible, and listen if there is any problem, I say ANY just call me fine…

Meghna: Fine Anna…..

After some time Murli Anna called and informed Meghna that he could arrange money but it will be night and also that since he do not have anybody at Delhi or Shimla at movement his friend’s agent will himself come and give her the cash. He said he was a thug so she just need to get money and immediately send him away…..

Meanwhile Kartik and Isha had researched about Meghna and they wondered from did she arrange this huge amount at such short notice. But what shocked them most was the person who came to deliver the cash. The person was the famous right hand man of the Delhi don Ajmal Khan, named Abu Anees… Who was a terror in himself….. Kartik now really wondered who Maya Narang had become….. Did he know her once……

As soon as Meghna got the cash she reached Kartik’s cabin and gave him….

Meghna: Here is the cash you asked for. Anything else…..

Kartik: Well…..

Meghna: Now what are your conditions……

Kartik: Always straight to the point….

Meghna: Well Abhi do not have time to waste…..

Kartik: Fine then…. My first condition is that you are telling me why you are Meghna now rather than Maya…..

Meghna: Done I will tell you about that as travel to Chennai…

Kartik:  I want your complete detail that you never told me during our relationship…. Sorry affair…

Meghna: Fine anything else……

Kartik: When I am treating him there will be no question on my method of treatment….. However unconventional….

Meghna: Done….. Everything will be done without question….

Kartik:  You will be my assistant during this period and you will do as I say no questions asked…… in any matter…. Personal or professional….

Meghna:  I will be at your beck and call….

Kartik:  Well you could never accept my love and put any importance on our marriage so for the time of treatment you would be staying at my place as my mistress.

Meghna: Kartik…. (Shouting)

Kartik: What happened Maya….. Scared. You can take the money and go back any time, I don’t care…..

Meghna: Fine Kartik anything else( Crying)

Kartik: You are really up to it ……

Meghna: For Abhi I can walk out of this room naked, you asked a small thing…. I hope you are up to it…..

KARTIK’S POV

I never thought she would be able to arrange such large sum of money at such short notice nor she would agree to my conditions…… I wished she would have fought over that, but she never said a word I thought I saw some emotions in her eyes, but they were gone as soon as they came….. And the people who got her money…… I don’t know what is she playing at or the case Abhi was really an accident…… Did I really know Maya or like her name she was just an illusion……. I really don’t know……

JOSPHINE’S POV

Meghu will be reaching here tomorrow, but what shocks me is her request for a home for Kartik in our same colony. She was much tensed when I called her and now she is not picking up the phone…. God knows what that Kartik had put forward as condition….. Why the hell she doesn’t talk to me….  Whenever she had refused to talk the consequences were never good……
