Dev streched his hand out on the bed. His fingers searched for Sonakshi on the other side but they just met coldness. “Sonakshi!!!” Dev called out

“Aayi (coming) ” She replied from the kitchen.

“Oh kitchen mein hai. Oh God Sonakshi kitchen mein hai!! Mar gaye” Dev thought (Oh God Sona is in the kitchen)

Sonakshi came out of the kitchen with two cups of coffee.

Dev: Sonakshi. I love you but I can’t compromise with my bed coffee in fact any coffee

Sona: Acchi bani hai

Dev: You’ve tasted it?

Sona: I have a gut feeling

Dev: Ummm…

Sona: Dev you know na meri aaj meeting hai hospital Ke director ke saath still I made all of this for you (I had a meeting with the directors of the hospital & still I made this for you)

Dev: Ab tum kahogi ki socho mai aisi wali wife hoti to and kahogi ki ye Sab mazak hai right? (Now you’ll say that it’s a joke, right?)

It was no joke. Sona was clearly hurt. & she kept the coffee mugs on the bedside table & went to the balcony.

“Phir naraz kar diya use!! ” Dev mentally cursed himself “Let’s smell the coffee at least no harm in that …”
He inhaled the aroma of the coffee ” Wow! Smells good” He picked up one mug & took a sip hesitantly. “Perfect just perfect”

Dev loved the coffee. Sonakshi had finally managed to cook something good.

Dev: Waah!! Perfect just perfect. Shagun to banta hai. (I need to reward her)

Dev went in the balcony. He saw Sona leaning on the wall, her entire weight resting on her right shoulder. Her curls were all on the left side. For a change she was wearing a blue formal Sari. Dev thought of the ‘Shagun’ that he would give her & grinned. He went towards her & hugged her from the back. She knew it was Dev & so didn’t resist him. He dugged his face in the groove of her neck & softly kissed her.

Dev: I love you Sonakshi

Sona: MAA!!

Sona literally jumped at this. It didn’t take much time for Dev to realise that she was talking to Asha & he obviously didn’t see the phone which was hidden in her curls. Sona glared at him & put the phone on speaker

Asha: Sona sab theek hai na? (Is everything OK?)

Sona: Aaa.. Uhhh… Haa Maa

Asha: You can share anything with me Sona you know that na

Sona: Hmmm

Asha: I have some work… I’ll call you back

Sona was feeling guilty for hiding the biggest happiness from her mother but she couldn’t blurt out the truth abruptly

Dev: We’ll tell her everything soon.

Sona smiled

Dev:Apna mood mat bigado. Eat some dahi cheeni before you leave. (Don’t spoil your mood
… Eat some curd sugar before you leave)

Sona: OK Sasu maa

Sona picked up her bag & began leaving when she got an idea. She suddenly stopped in mid way. She ran back & gave a gentle peck on Dev’s cheeks. She came like aandhi & rushed out like toofan, barely giving time for Dev to register what had happened.

It was a big day for DevAkshi. Sona had convinced her seniors to arrange a meeting with the director of the hospital. If he agreed to her plans she could get the hospital equipped with proper equipments for cancer treatment. On the other hand, Dev felt that after office & Sonakshi he still had 2 hours spare in his day. He had decided to give private tuitions of Physics to few economically deprived children who were keen on getting educated.

In front of LB’s house was a big garden full of dandelions. She housed dandelions of every possible colour under the sun. Her house became the centre of attraction for every resident of Labour, Mussoorie. She even bagged prizes for her flowers. When Dev had asked for a small place in the garden to teach some students, LB was hesitant but later gave him the permission. She had to clear some place with a heavy heart but she did it for a noble cause.

In the evening Sona returned from the hospital & saw Dev teaching a group of 10 students. He stood confidently in front of them. A portable black board was there behind him. DIMENSIONAL FORMULA & ITS USES. The black board had these letters written in Dev’s handwriting. She stood there admiring him while he was lost in teaching.

I never knew that he is a such an amazing teacher… Hidden talent Mr Dixit

Sona’s chain of thoughts broke when Dev ended his class & his students rushed out with super satisfied faces.

Dev: Ice cream?

Sona: Yes. Sir.

They went out in search of an ice cream vendor

Dev: Did they agree

Sona: No

Dev:No?

Sona shook her head in negative & looked down. She had been optimistic about her plans but her dreams had been crushed down by her seniors

Sona: The director heard my idea & said that it was noble indeed but it is really difficult to run a hospital up here in these terrains & he will only relent if this idea gives him monetary benefits.

Dev: So?

Sona: Charity doesn’t bring profits. I was trying for everyone’s good. I thought I could bring a change but I failed, for the first time in my life & it pains inside here

She pointed towards the left side of her chest.

Dev: You didn’t try to convince him further?

Sona: I was but his one point made me speechless. He said that even if they agree to me the people will not trust our treatment to be efficient enough they will still go down the plains. I think they are right. I was dreaming too much beyond my reached. I have failed.

Sona again hung her head down. Dev lifted it up while holding her chin & looked straight into her eyes which were lined by tears.
