Arambh – The beginning.
” Maya wake up we are almost there ” said Samvar.
Maya opened her eyes to the wide spread plants and bushes around the road. She could see the road being abandoned and that it lead to this half burnt house before her. Samvar stopped the car and stood before the house and called Maya.
She came out and asked , “Are you sure that we are safe ?”
” well it’s morning technically less scary so let’s wrap our work here soon and leave. ” said Samvar and entered into the open house. Maya followed him.
The house was in a medium sized, unclean and empty. All the doors were closed.
” Shouldn’t these doors be open ?” Asked Maya.
” someone had come before us I think so, you see those things lying there? Let’s hurry and finish this ” said Samvar and opened every door.
” Maya check every door and every corner dont leave any place without full checking. ” he said.
They opened one by one and checked.
The door bell rang at Laksh’s house. He opened it before it went off.
” Aadya ” Laksh smiled.
She smiled at him, ” were you waiting for me ?” She asked.
” No.. I mean..I was expecting you ” he stammered.
” Shall I come in ?” She asked.
He invited her and said ,” After Maya left you visit me everyday.. you don’t know how much that means to me especially today !” He gave her the glass of water.
“Exactly why I here ! Look at yourself Laksh ! It’s been four months and you haven’t stepped outside. Dont you think you should move on and live ? ” she asked.
He sighed and told , ” What is the use of it anymore ? For whom I should live ? ”
” for yourself. That Maya I even saw her day before yesterday in that restaurant with that guy. You are the only one sinking inside this prison. ” she said.
He smiled and went inside the room. She looked around the hall and asked, ” Have you cleaned the house ? It is kind of empty ?”.
” Ah, those pictures.. Maya burnt them yesterday. ” Laksh replied.
She went inside the room and looked at him.
He asked, ” What ? I’m okay also I had expected this from her. ”
” She is indeed crazy ” Aadya told.
He stared at her. She held his hands made him sit in the couch and asked, “Shall I take you out ?”
“Where” he asked.
” To get you a good look first and then lunch ” she told.
He smiled and said, ” No it’s okay I’m not in mood.”
She hissed in his ears, ” I’m not asking you dear.”
” The last door ” said Maya.
Samvar opened it. Maya stepped in and that moment all the doors in the house banged heavily.
” You said it won’t be here ” shouted Maya.
” yes, well.. tada ” samvar said.
Maya came out of the door and the sounds stopped. She looked at Samvar and said, ” this is it then ” they went inside and searched everywhere. Maya searched in the drawer nearest the window where she noticed few cars being parked outside the house. She turned to Samvar quickly and asked, ” Sam some guys are here.”
Samavar peeped outside and they were confused. ” Who could possibly come here ?” Samvar asked himself.
” Our car ?” She asked.
” I have parked it far away dont worry!” He said.
” then how are we escaping them ?” She asked. He stared at her.
” okay let’s not waste time we will find it very quickly and we will hide downstairs, if they come inside the house then we can think how to leave, if not then no problem ” Maya said.
Samvar agreed and searched. Maya opened the alimrah before her and shouted,” I found it ” samvar calmed her down and they saw a slipper lying beneath the door.
“How has it come here?” Samvar asked.
“Who cares its Laksh’s I’m sure let’s go” said Maya taking that slipper.
They ran downstairs and heard the people entering the hallway, they saw the kitchen beside them and hided themselves.
” Laksh I’m worried. ” said Maya.
Samvar looked at her and she corrected ” Sam sorry “.
” I’ll distract them and you can escape outside” said samvar.
” why aren’t you coming with me ?” She asked.
” the key ! That is hung there see ” he told Maya pointing at the wall before them in hall.
” What is it ” she asked.
” Go I’ll explain later “he said and ran to the room before him.
The intruders tooks chisel and hammer and spoke within themselves, ” some one has come search and get rid of them ”
Samvar made noises in that room and the guys made their way to that room meanwhile Maya left the house with the slipper. Samvar ran across to the other connected room which happened to be the store room he quickly went to the hall by the door and grabbed the key. One of the guy noticed him and he threw few bricked upon them and ran outside. They followed him and he saw Maya coming to him with the car. He got inside and Maya took off in a lightning speed.
” Who are they what are they doing here ?” Asked one of them.
” whomever it was, their end time has started. Let’s not waste time and destroy this house along with what that is living I it immediately ” the other guy told.
Maya stopped the car after miles and they burned the slipper in road. “finally its ended right ? ” Maya asked.
” Maya this key, we should go to that house and get the book where the spell lies and we have to burn it with that we can end this forever ! ” samvar told.
“But you said burning things that connects with Laksh will set him free ” Maya asked.
” yes it will. Now Laksh is safe but we have to end this otherwise this can catch some other person.. Maya.. nobody had came this far, but we did. Let’s end this forever!” He said holding her. She nodded.
Samvar drove off the lane.
The car stopped at the restaurant and Laksh stepped down along with Aadya. Laksh looked himself in mirror to see rugged face shaved neatly and hair combed after long time. Aadya told, ” looking perfect and handsome ” he smiled.
They sat in a table and Laksh started, ” thanks for everything Aadya. Mom was very worried of me but you comforted her and you kept your promise. Thanks for being there for me !” He said holding her hands. She looked at him and lost. He waved before her and she smiled, ” yeah well you are my friend and it’s my duty.” She said.
” yesterday I went to Maya and finally I told her that this won’t continue and will file for divorce and I thought that’s the best for us ” Laksh told.
“Good desicion, you deserve more ” she said.
” Shall I take you out tomorrow?” He asked hesitantly.
She giggled and nodded.
” Great Maya, we won ! We are going to end this. What is your plan after this ?” Samvar asked Maya.
” Of course to escape for a holiday to get away from the hell I have been for 4 months. ” Maya smiled.
“And Laksh ?” He asked.
“Laksh, He deserves more !” She said.
” I agree ” Samvar said.
” What I thought you will support me ” Maya pinched him.
He laughed.
” okay so what is your plan ?” She asked.
” we are here.” He said.
She looked through the window. Lone street, waters both side and a alone small hut in the middle beside the lane. Whole creepy view.
” Sam, 4 months back you promised me that you will tell everything about this once we finish this. You will now tell me right ? I have so many questions like how come you knew the key, the house and lot such !” – said Maya.
“Maya tell me after all that you went through this 4 months do you really wanna know everything or shall we just burn this shit and move on with it ?” He asked.
“Yeah. I don’t wanna know let’s end this” Maya agreed.
They went inside the hut and found nothing but a cupboard, he opened it with the key and found an old binded book. He took that and looked at Maya. She smiled in relief. He too smiled and opened it.
“Ah, now you burn and die whatever you are b*t*h. ” Maya said in joy lighting the match stick.
Samvar extinguished it and looked at Maya.
“What the hell Sam?” She aksed.
He showed the opened book. Maya’ s eyes widened.
“Tomorrow, I have to give you something.. I hope you like it ” said Aadya.
“Why will I not like it ?” Laksh smiled.
“Bye good night and thanks for dropping me. I had a good day ” Aadya said.
” Me too after a long time. Good night ” said Laksh waving his hands. Aadya went inside her house and went to her room upstairs and peeped through the window and saw Laksh smiling at her. She smiled and signed him to leave and sleep. He smiled and got in his car.
“What ? ‘Laksh’ how come his name is in this book ?” Maya shouted.
“The spell isn’t broken yet. Have you forgot to burn anything?” Samvar asked.
” I have burnt even our wedding dress and the last one that was remaining was the slipper he left in that house. That is also burnt now. Why hasn’t it broken ?” She asked.
“Its okay let us just burn this book and end this ” said Maya.
” No it’s not about the book it’s about the spell, the process is to burn the connections to the spell, free the victim and then burn the book thus the house is freed. If we burn the book it is like burning its home and losing its home it will forever stick on the victim on whom the spell is being made. This book is supposed to be empty with no names. Laksh name signifies that he is still connected to this, we can’t burn this then it would forever harm Laksh and everything we did will go in vain ” explained Samvar.
“What shall we do now ?” She asked.
“We are again in square one our only hope is the house to get any leads. But…”
” What?” Asked Maya.
” those guys they were there to clean the house. They had those pious stuffs like lamp and things. If they succeed in purifying the house then we are again clueless and we can’t trace it back. ” he said concerning.
” Shit ! Why it has to be Laksh, why is it us ?” Cried Maya.
Samvar held her face and assured, ” I wont allow your sacrifice to go in vain. You remember you asked me the story and I denied. Now we don’t have other choice let’s get into every deep details of this “.
