Jay Soni on Sasural Genda Phool 2 going off-air

Sasural Genda Phool 2 whose first reason had a successful run of 3 years is now going off-air after just three months of being aired. The lead man of the show Jay Soni, is also upset about it but is trying to look at the brighter side of it.

The actor talked about it during a recent interview with BT and shared, “Yes, the show is ending but I have no complaints or regrets. We made a good show. It’s just that we couldn’t get the audience we had expected. There could be multiple reasons. You can’t pin the blame on anyone in particular. Everything was in place and I am proud of the team associated with the show. Also, I can’t comment on how one gets the audience, as I don’t understand that aspect. As far as I am concerned, I got good feedback from people who watched the show. The makers have appreciated my work because Ishaan (Jay’s character in SGP) in the second season was different from the previous one. So, the actor in me is happy.”

He adds, “I am obviously sad and disappointed but one has to accept it. It takes time to sink in but jitna jaldi kar lo achha hai. Whatever starts will end someday. You can’t do anything about what’s beyond your control, especially when you know that you are doing everything right. As an actor, I strive to be loyal to my work. Despite the development, no one in the team has become complacent. We are still very positive and working with conviction. Kabhi paasa padta hai toh padd jaata hai aur kabhi nahi padta toh naho hota hai.”

“I know I gave my best. I am very proud of SGP 2 and will always be. People say a lot of things when a show ends but my reply will be ‘ Kuchh toh log kahenge’. Such comments don’t bother me anymore. It would have really affected me if someone had to say that my performance wasn’t up to the mark. Acting is my passion. It’s not just about reporting on a set and exiting it at a fixed time and signing the log. My focus is on delivering a good performance and that’s exactly what I did in SGP 2 as well,” he said.

When asked if he will like to take a break from the small screen again, Jay replied, “I have shot for a web series and am in the process of starting work on another one. I don’t know about TV at this stage. If I am offered something good, I will take it up. I don’t have an agenda. I just want to do good work, be it on TV, web series, or films. I should feel butterflies in my stomach when I hear the graph of my character and I want to go through the process of preparing for it.”
