Jagriti notices the heaviness and suggests that Kalindi, as the family head, should carry the largest basket. Kalindi agrees and takes the heavy basket. Jagriti then tells Suraj that she has invited friends to disrupt the deal and departs. As Suraj and the women pass a checkpoint, the police insist on inspecting the baskets. Suraj, having prepared a clean basket, allows the inspection, which reveals nothing suspicious, and they are permitted to proceed. Suraj taunts Jagriti about her “friends” failing to disrupt the plan and leaves. Jagriti, holding rice grains, reflects that her real allies will act soon.
