Ishqbaaz – Rikara Art Exhibition Chapter 16

Gauri was home on her table, staring into space. Around her, there are balls of crumpled pair on the floor.

G(Thinking): My group asked me to prepare a rough design of a dress but I do not know what to draw. I need a concept but I cannot think of anything. What can I do now? I think I am drawer’s block. Just like writer’s block but for a drawer. Maybe if I go watch something for 30 minutesand come back, then everything will be fine.

Gauri turns on the TV and guess what was on. Salman Khan’s Wanted. She quickly takes a chair and puts her legs up. Then she turns off the light, blasts the sound and watches the movie. 2 hours later, the movie finishes. She checks the time and it is 10:00 p.m.

G(Thinking): Gauri, your 30 minute break became 2 hours. Why are you procrastinating like this? Actually, it was for Salman so there is nothing wrong in taking a long break.

Gauri heads to her room and starts to draw. She just draws a dress with short sleeves.

G: I cannot just give in a blank dress. I need something that make everyone mouth drop. Who can I ask?

Flashback: In the letter that Om sent regarding her education and the emails, it says that if you need help, email him.

G: I will email him. Maybe he can give me some inspiration.

Gauri sends an email:

Hello sir.

I know it is late at night but I was wondering if you can help me out with something. I am trying to draw this dress but I cannot think of any ideas. I need some inspiration so what do you do when you are at this point?

Om was working on his artwork when his phone beeped. He glances over to see an email from Gauri.

O: Gauri sent me an email at this time. Is something wrong?

Om without even considering the fact that his hands were covered in paint using his elbows to unlock the screen. But, it did not work so he decided to use his dirty hands instead. As he picks up the phone, it slips and falls into the black paint bottle. He takes out the phone and uses his shirt to smear the paint off his shirt. Om tries to turn on the phone but it does not turn on.

O: OMG, how am I going to talk to Gauri now? I need a phone to talk to her. I cannot use the home line since she will find out. I’ll just use another cell phone and call her as a private number.

Om leaves his room and Annika walks toward him.

A: Om, are you okay?

O: Yh, I am fine. I just need a phone.

A: I cannot give you my phone.

O: Why? Please, I need to talk to Gauri.

A: Talk… but she will recognize your voice in an instant.

O: But, I want to talk to you.

Om and Annika sit on the stairs, thinking what they can do.

A: How are your acting skills? Try to change your voice.

Om tries to speak in a deeper voice.

A: Do not even try.

O: What??

A: No offense, but you cannot act. We need something else.

B: Why do not you just download the app that changes your voice so she does not recognize it?

O: What?

B: There is a app which allows you to change your voice. You just go to the play store, download it. I will give you my phone but, first go clean up.

Om runs to his room and then goes to Annika’s room. Om dials Gauri’s number. Before he presses the Call button:

B: Wait… what is your cover?

O: Cover?

B: What is your name? You cannot say that you are Om.

O: Oh, apparently, my name is Shanker. Tina helped me create the name. LOL, I do not know where she got it from.

A: Okay good. So set it up as a private number and call her. Let’s see what she says.
