SHIVIKA’S ROOM

“What is it Shivay? Why were you interested about mythological names? Have you found out something?”
“Yes” Shivay replied to Omkara.
“What is it Shivay?” Anika asked.
Shivay picked up the File from the floor.
“This Anika, is the details of the Bank account we are concerned about.”
“And…?” Om persuaded
“And it belongs to Mr. Jindal’s sister” he smiled.
“So Mallika is the beholder of this account?”

“No. It’s Asavari Kapoor.”
Om and Anika exchanged glances in confusion.
“But Shivay we thought Mallika is Mr. Jindal’s sister now, this Asavari Kapoor… wait does he have 2 sisters?”

“No. Asavari is Mr. Jindal’s sister” Shivay was still smiling
“Then Mallika…?”
Shivay’s smile broadened at their confused looks. He explained…

“Mallika IS Asavari”

“Wait! What?” Om and Anika was evidently taken aback. They were not at all expecting this.
“How are you so sure Shivay?” Anika asked
“Anika… tell me one thing. How much time did it take me to locate Rudra? Just a few minutes? It’s not possible that I’ll lost any of my siblings since I can track them… but that’s only till they stay my siblings.”

“Huh?? Shivay you are confusing me more and more please speak up clearly” Anika demanded while Om listened patiently.
Shivay walked to Anika and kept his hands on her shoulder.
“Anika what I mean is… I can track my brothers anytime but only when they stay my brothers, that is, they stay Omkara and Rudra Singh Oberoi, not when they change their names and their identity.”
Omkara gasped at the realization.

“Yes. Of course. God Shivay!! Why did that not occur to us earlier? It’s obvious that she has changed her name. I mean Mr. Jindal otherwise could easily track her down and she wouldn’t have been ‘long LOST sister’ “

“Yes. So Mallika is Asavari. But I have confusion. The name is Asavari Kapoor. Why ‘Kapoor’ ?”
“It means she had been married!” Anika concluded.
“Yes. And…” He turned the pages of the file “The last time money had been taken out of this account is near about 25 years ago”
“Shivay, then there must be official details about her marriage. If we can track his husband down, maybe we’ll find her too” Omkara suggested.
Shivay relaxed a bit with the plans coming into his mind but only for a while. He tensed again turning the pages of the file. Anika noticed the change in him.
“Shivay? What is it?”
“We… we can’t track her husband”

“Why?”
“Because… because he’s no more. This account belongs to Asavari Kapoor wife of Late Mr. Ranjan Kapoor. “
“Damn!” Omkara cursed.

The continuous coming and going of fake hopes felt heavy on all of their shoulders. It was suddenly a lot to take. They stood there in silence for a while. It had started to get depressing when Om spoke again …
“Shivay… can I get your laptop?”
Shivay looked up at Om blankly, and then passed him the laptop without questioning.

Om sat on the bed and started working silently. Shivay and Anika looked at each other equally confused but none uttered a word.
After a while Om sighed and looked up at both of them.
“Mr. Ranjan Kapoor died about 18 years back”

“So…?” Shivay asked.
“It means that Asavari supposedly got out of touch from her brother when her husband was alive. That means Mr. Kapoor knew about her whereabouts”
“Om, even if he did, that means nothing to us right now. He is not here to answer our questions.”
“Shivay, what I meant is…she was not in touch monetarily with her brother to avoid getting tracked, but maybe she was with her husband? Why can’t we check Mr Kapoor’s financial transactions? I mean it’s not just a brother who cares. A husband does too.” Intending, he looked between Shivay and Anika, while they looked at each other.

Rudra entered the room running
“Sorry for going missing, actually my phone’s battery was dead and…”
He stopped seeing all three of them smiling at him stupidly.
“Wait…did I miss any fun?”

Shivay grinned at him “Nah! The fun has just begun.”
