@Samistha Choudhary Here is the update

Vansh peeped into the ICU through the small window. His Riddhima, she was lying unconscious inside, while the doctors and nurses frantically worked around her. His heart wrenched in pain to see her in that condition. A lone tear escaped his eye.

After what felt like an hour, the doctor came out with a grim expression on his face.
“Riddhima has been given lethal doses of a potentially dangerous cardiotoxin. Even though we’ve administered the antidote, we need to see if she responds to it or not. Until then, we can’t say anything.”

He sat down on the bench, burying his head into his hands. Just then, Angre came up to him.

“Boss, you need to sign on these papers for getting her bypass surgery done. Her doctor was telling me that her heart is so weak that she would have died in an instant, had Riddhima not saved her….”

Vansh furiously got up and grabbed Angre by his collar and screamed.
“You little good-for-nothing moron! You had been charged with the responsibilty of ensuring her safety, then why did Riddhima have to put her life at stake to save her?
Where were you and the rest when that intruder entered her ward and did all that? Had it not been for my Riddhima, I’d have lost her. Forever!”

Vansh tried hard to blink back his tears, but he had lost all of his control, and they started streaming down his face.

He took the papers and tried to sign on them. His heart sank when he read the line :

The hospital or any of the doctors or nurses won’t be held responsible in case of any untoward incident or complications including death.

On one side, there was Riddhima who was fighting for her life, and on the other, was this woman who was also very important to him, and he did not want to lose either of the two….
______________________________________

Riddhima woke up suddenly, coughing and retching. She was feeling nauseous and wanted to head towards the washroom, but she had multiple attachments placed on her body.

Vansh got up from his nap and rushed towards Riddhima for help. He found a disposable dish and kept it in front of her.

“Use this,” he instructed.

She kept puking in it until her stomach relaxed. The nurse soon arrived and helped to clean everything up.

After Riddhima was done, Vansh made her drink some water.
“How are you feeling now?”

“Much better,” she said weakly.
“How is that lady doing? Is she fine?”

Vansh looked at her in admiration. In spite of having faced a life threatening situation, the first thing she did after gaining consciousness was worrying for a random stranger, instead of worrying for her ownself.

“She is fine,” he replied. “Can you tell me what had exactly happened when you reached the her room?”

Riddhima carefully started narrating the entire set of events to him. When Vansh listened to how Riddhima fooled his guards and escaped out of VR Mansion, he became angry. But he controlled his temper, listening to each and every word with utmost attention.

Riddhima continued, “When I noticed the masked person trying to inject something into that woman’s drip, I tried to stop him. I had almost managed to remove his mask off, but at that very moment, he pierced the needle into my arm. When his hands were still wrapped around the syringe, I tore his gloves off so that his finger prints can be smudged over it, and we can take the sample later on.
He later escaped through the window.”

Vansh beamed at her. “What are you doing in a medical college? I think you’d be better off in some detective agency.”

“Is that a taunt or a compliment?” she asked narrowing her eyes at him.

“Well, that depends on how you want to take it as,” Vansh replied with a glint in his eye.

“Vansh, who is that woman by the way?” Riddhima asked suddenly. “And why had you kept her hidden on the island?”

Vansh flinched. He knew that Riddhima would certainly bring this up.

“There’s no need for you to know that,” said Vansh sharply. “It shouldn’t be a matter of concern for you.”

Riddhima became upset. “Why not? Why do you always keep hiding things from me? This is not fair.”

“Enough,” Vansh scolded her slighly. “The doctor has told you to just sit back and relax, so I don’t want you to unnecessarily strain yourself in any manner.”

Riddhima made a face, but then she got an idea.

She held her head between her palms and started wincing in pain.
“Aahh! It hurts like hell. Can’t bear the agony anymore!”

Vansh darted towards her in concern, caressing her head. “What happened? Do you want me to call the doctor?”

“By not answering my questions, you are aggravating my stress levels and thus worsening my health in the process,” she said.

Vansh observed a ghost of a smile appear on Riddhima’s face, and that was when he realized that she was simply faking it.

“I can’t believe you, girl,” he said irritatedly. “Do you think this is a joke or a game of some kind? Trying to take advantage of my love and concern for you? Really not done!”

He was about to leave but stopped midway when Riddhima called him out.

“You don’t trust me even a bit and keep hiding all kinds of things from me, but expect me to trust you blindly? Hypocrisy at it’s highest level!”

He glared at her.

“Don’t you dare give me that look, Vansh,” she snapped at him. She realized she had gone overboard with her rudeness, so she softened her expressions.
“Vansh, you know that I’d always want the best for you. I don’t know then, what is it that is stopping you from telling me all about it?”

Vansh resignedly sat on the stool beside her.
“You’re desperate to know right, who that woman is?”

“Yes.”

Vansh inhaled deeply and shut his eyes and said, “She is my mother.”

Riddhima was so shocked to hear this that she was rendered absolutely speechless for a minute or so.

“But…but…how is that possible? Nani had told me that she had passed away long time ago….?” She fumbled with her words, still in shock.

Vansh started off with a faraway and painful look in his eyes. “We all had been living under this false illusion that Maa had expired. It was eighteen years ago that Maa had suddenly gone missing. All of us, including the police, tried to look for her, but to no avail.
Initially the police started speculating that perhaps she had run away with another man….”

Riddhima could see Vansh’s lips tremble with anger as he remembered this. Now it made sense to her as to why he always hated the police so deeply.
She gently rubbed his hand, trying to calm him down.

Vansh continued, trying to fight back his emotions, “Later they said they had found evidence that Maa had last been seen going inside an abandoned building. But apparently she could never return from there, as the whole building had soon caught fire and had been reduced to mere ashes.

“Even though we were never able to find her body, we assumed her to be dead. We thought that if not a single piece of the building could remain undestroyed, then how could it be possible for Maa to survive the fire?

“Soon Dad remarried Anupriya Mom, and we had all learnt to live without Maa.
It was only two years back, when I happened to go to Bhopal for one of my business ventures, that I spotted Maa in a mental health institution.

“My happiness knew no bounds when I saw my mother alive before my very eyes. I hugged her, kissed her, showed her our old photographs, but all in vain. She failed to recognize me.
She had lost her mental balance.”

Vansh began to choke upon his tears. “She failed to recognize her own son, her one and only Vansh, who always used to be the apple of her eye….”

Looking at Vansh break down in front of her so miserably, Riddhima’s eyes reflexly welled up.

She spread her arms wide open, beckoning Vansh to hug her. He reciprocated immediately and cried like a baby in her arms. She affectionately ruffled his hair with her hand and cooed.
“Sshh! It’s okay. Everything will be fine….”

Vansh regained his composure and said, “I soon came to know that whatever had happened with her wasn’t an accident. Someone had tried to kill her but had unluckily failed at it. Fearing that the killer might strike again after coming to know that she is very much alive, I kept her hidden away on the island. My few trusted men and a medical team always remained around her 24×7. I wanted her to become alright as soon as possible so that she can regain her lost mental balance and identify her killer.

“Even though it was at a very slow pace, but she was recovering little by little. But yesterday, she suffered a heart attack. The doctors told Angre that we’d have to do an emergency bypass surgery. Impossible to do such a delicate surgery on the island itself, Angre and his men decided to take Maa to a relatively unknown hospital where no one would be able to identify her.
Angre had wanted to inform me all this, but looking at my inebriated state he decided to handle this by himself.
Since I’m an avid drinker, my inebriation wore off relatively quick. I read Angre’s message and contacted him and straight away came here.”

Riddhima looked at him overwhelmingly. She always felt that she had a tough life, but now she realized that Vansh had lived a much tougher one than her.

She held Vansh’s face, bringing his head closer to her lips and gently kissing it.

“Is her surgery still going on?”

He nodded.

“Don’t worry. She’ll soon get alright,” she assured him.

“You saved her life by endangering your own! I’ll forever be indebted towards you,” said Vansh looking gratefully towards her. “Thank you so much, Riddhima….”

“One needn’t thank his loved ones….” Her words trailed off.

Vansh smiled slighly. He helped her to lie down.
“You need to take rest, sweetheart.”

“How many more hours would the surgery take to finish?”

“Two.”

“How long have I been unconscious?”

“Three hours.”

“Everyone must be getting worried for me back at home…”

“Don’t worry. I’ll handle everything, Riddhima….”

Her heart went out to Vansh. How many times had he said the same thing to her that he’ll handle everything? But yet every single time she had misunderstood him, when in fact he had been trying so hard to handle each and everything with utmost dedication and responsibility.

She suddenly remembered something. “Vansh, did you find the syringe that had the masked person’s fingerprints on it?”

He replied in the affirmative. “Yes, I even sent it to one of the private forensic labs. They said that it will take them 3-4 days to match the fingerprints from the database.”

Riddhima opened her mouth to say something else, but Vansh placed a finger on her lips.
“No more questions. You need to sleep. Right now.”

Riddhima obediently closed her eyes. She could feel Vansh interlacing his hand with her’s.

Tu Jahaan, Main Wahaan
Sang Sang Yun Chaloon Tere
Jaise Tera Aasmaan….

Riddhima woke up from her slumber to the doctor examining her.

“She looks fine to me, Mr. Raisinghania. I’d have wanted to keep her here for another day. But if you promise that you’ll take good care of her, then I’m willing to discharge her by tonight.”

“Don’t worry, Doctor. I’ll ensure that she receives good medical care at home,” said Vansh.

After the doctor left, Riddhima turned towards Vansh looking anxious.
“How is Maa? Has the surgery been completed?”

“Yes, and thankfully the surgery was a successful one.”

Riddhima squealed in happiness. “See? Didn’t I tell you that everything will be alright, Vansh?”

Vansh smiled at her innocence. He brought out a plate of food.
“You need to eat this.”

Riddhima scowled. “First of all, what are you doing here? You should be with Maa, since she needs you more.
And secondly, do you think I’m Hulk or something? I can’t eat THAT much.”

“Maa has still not gained consciousness and is under observation for now. There are nurses and doctors looking after her. So you don’t need to worry about her,” said Vansh. “And as far as the food is concerned, I don’t know anything but you’ve to finish all of this. Or else….”

“Else what?”she asked annoyedly.

“I have my own ways, Riddhima,” smirked Vansh.

“I’m not afraid of your stupid threats.” She shut her mouth tight when Vansh brought a spoonful of food close to her.

“Stop acting like a cranky kid!” Vansh scolded her. “Otherwise….Don’t complain later that I didn’t warn you before….”

He pinched her waist causing her to jump in startle. She was so flabbergasted by this action that her mouth was wide open for a while. Seizing the opportunity, Vansh stuffed the spoon into her mouth.

“What did you just do?” she gasped looking thoroughly mortified.

“Did you like it, sweetheart?” Vansh winked at her.

“Absolutely not!”

“Then listen to what I say. Or I wouldn’t hesitate from doing this yet again,” he teased.

“All men are the same. blo*dy perverts!” she muttered under her breath.

“Did you say something?” Vansh asked.

Riddhima shook her head and ate her food without any further tantrums.

“Now that’s like my girl,” he grinned.

It was then that Riddhima observed Vansh’s face. He looked far too exhausted beyond words. She realized that Vansh had perhaps neither eaten anything nor slept properly since last evening. He was so busy in taking care of the people around him that he had forgotten to look after his own health.

“You didn’t eat anything, did you?”

Vansh remained silent.

“I knew it.” She snatched the spoon from his hands and started feeding him instead. “Here, have some.”

Vansh tried to protest. “You are a patient, not me. Hence, you need it more than me.”

“If you continue to have such a callous attitude towards your health, then soon you’ll soon also turn into a patient yourself,” she chided him. “And you know me well enough to know that I can be fare more stubborn than you if I want.”

Vansh obediently ate by her hands, simultaneously looking lovingly at her.

“This is just food. If you feed me with your beautiful hands, I’d be ready to even eat poison.”

Riddhima facepalmed. “Oh God! Not one of those cheesy lines again!”

Just then, Angre excused himself inside. “She has gained consciousness. The doctor said that we can meet her now.”

A wave of relief passed across Vansh’s face as he heard this.
“I’ll come right away.”

Riddhima interrupted him. “Can I meet her too?”

“Riddhima, but….”

“Please, please. Let me see her once at least,” she pleaded.

He sighed resignedly. He asked the nurse to take off all the attachments, and gently led her into his mother’s room.

An old and frail woman lay on the bed, wincing in pain. Even though technically she was younger than Gayatri, but her illness made her look much older.

As soon as she saw Vansh and Riddhima approach her, her eyes danced about eccentrically from one person to another.

Vansh sat beside her and delicately kissed her forehead, taking care not to hurt her in the process. “How are you feeling now?” he asked taking her hand in his.

But she did not answer him. She instead started eyeing Riddhima suspiciously.
“Who is this girl? What does she want from me? Is she here to harm me?”

Vansh tried to explain to her and calm her down, but she in turn started becoming even more hysterical.
“I don’t want to stay here! I want to go back home. All these people over here are hurting and troubling me like anything. I hate everyone, including this girl too!”

Riddhima on the other hand, stayed as placid as possible.
“But I don’t hate you. However, you can hate me, if you wish to do so. But wouldn’t you want to know the name of the girl whom you seem to hate? My name is Riddhima.”

This seemed to get her attention. “Rimeeta.”

“No, it’s Riddhima.”

“Rinidha.”

“Ri-dhi-maa.” She tried to clearly enunciate upon the syllables.

“Riddhima,” Uma finally said.

Riddhima cheered for her. “Yay! See, you finally got it. Give me a high-five!”

Uma looked confused.

“Uh oh. You don’t know what a high five is? Never mind, let me show you how.” Riddhima took Uma’s palm and lightly tapped against her own.
After a few more failed attempt, Uma had finally learnt to give a high-five.

Vansh looked on amazed as he saw Riddhima showing utmost patience towards her.

There could be no greater happiness for a man than to see the woman he adores, taking care of his loved ones and family with such affection….
______________________________________

“Boss, did you tell Riddhima the entire truth?” quizzed Angre.

Vansh took a deep breath. He took the cigarette that Angre had lit for him and started puffing it.
“No. I only told her half of the truth. I can’t possibly tell her everything at this stage and confuse her more. A single wrong move on my part, and my entire planning and hardwork from these many years would all go to the drains.”

He all of a sudden fell silent when he saw Riddhima appear around the corner, all ready to go back home.

“I wanted to meet Maa before leaving, but she seems to be sleeping now,” she said.

Vansh threw a pointed look in Angre’s direction, and he quietly left the scene.

“Riddhima, just because you have been discharged from here doesn’t mean you are free to do whatever you want. You are still supposed to take proper rest and eat well. After what happened with Sonia last time, I’m weary of hiring any new caretaker for you. But I’ve explained everything to Mrs. D’souza, and she’ll be looking after you for these few days.”

He looked around to make sure that no one was nearby. “Also, you can’t disclose anything about all this to any of the family members, yet. Understood?”

Riddhima blinked her eyes in assurance. “I won’t tell a soul. You can count on me for that.
But what about Maa? What are you going to do about her now?”

Vansh’s expression turned to a serious one. “Until we get those fingerprints results and find out who the culprit is behind all this, her life would be in danger. Even though the doctor said that ideally, a hospital stay of at least 3-4 days is required. But after what happened yesterday, I think that keeping her here for that long of a period would be very risky.
That is why, I’ve decided to keep her in the hospital only for today. And tomorrow, I’ll take her back to the island, which is currently the safest place for her. My specially appointed medical team would be looking after her further over there.”

“Are you going to stay here in the hospital for tonight?” she enquired.

He answered, “Yes. Even though I’ve arranged a lot of security around, but I still don’t trust this hospital enough to consider it absolutely safe. I can’t take any risk. In fact, I can’t leave her side even for a second, at least not until I safely escort her back to my island.”

Angre came back again. “All the discharge paperwork is ready. Riddhima, let me drop you home.”

“Take care, Vansh,” she said softly before leaving.

“You too, my love,” he said.
______________________________________

When Riddhima arrived back at VR Mansion, there were loads of questions bombarded towards her.
She brushed them all aside by putting out an excuse of having extra classes in college and going for a routine pregnancy checkup.

“What did the doctor say? Is everything normal? And where is Vansh?” asked Gayatri all in a single breath.

“The doctor said everything is alright as for now. And Vansh, he’s busy in some important business deal right now,” lied Riddhima. “He’d return only tomorrow.”

“This Vansh I tell you! I’ve told him ample number of times to never keep any meetings or official work for the night, but he never listens to me. He keeps on working all day and night, like a typical workaholic,” complained Gayatri. “Anyways beta, you must be feeling really hungry now, right? I’ll ask D’souza to set the dinner right away.”

At dinner, Riddhima’s eyes fell upon Vansh’s empty chair. She found herself missing him incredibly. The intense manner in which he used to gaze at her, the way he used to hold her hands under the table and the way he used to make her blush with his cheesy pickup lines – she missed every single little thing about him.

She realized that she never valued his prized presence around her. In fact, all she ever did was to taunt him or act condescendingly with him. She made up her mind to make up to him for her rude behaviour towards him, once he comes back.

Riddhima was so lost in Vansh’s thoughts, that she wasn’t even seeing where she was going and straight away collided with Anupriya.

Riddhima was about to fall down, but luckily, Anupriya caught her hand in time and helped her stand up properly.

She started telling her off. “What is wrong with you? You are pregnant, and yet you behave so callously? What if something happened to the baby?”

Riddhima was in no mood to argue, so she silently tried to leave from there.

“Riddhima!” Anupriya stopped her. “How are you feeling now by the way? And is the baby doing well?”

“Of course, me and the baby arw fine. Why do you ask that, though?” asked Riddhima, not able to hide the surprise from her voice.

“Oh nothing,” said Anupriya suddenly. “You just looked….quite exhausted and pale to me, so just wanted to make sure. I’m glad that the baby is absolutely alright, though. Otherwise….” She broke off in the middle of the sentence, as if realizing something.

“Good night,” she said abruptly and walked away.

Riddhima, on the other hand, was left utterly confused by Anupriya’s strange behaviour.
“Something’s not right. I need to keep a lookout for this woman, though.”
______________________________________

Once in the privacy and loneliness of her room, Riddhima started missing Vansh even more.

“God knows if he ate something or not. He instructs me to take care of myself, but he never takes enough care of himself ever.”

She decided to call him up and ask about it, but then thought otherwise.

“What if he has already fallen asleep or something? My call would disturb him then.”

She instead decided to message him.

Just texted to checkup on you. Hope you and Maa are doing well….
.

Soon, a lengthy message popped up on her screen.

Oh, I’m perfectly alright. She is doing much better than before, too. Right now, she’s sleeping. Thanks for asking.
Btw, how are you feeling? Did you take your medicines?
.

Yes, I did.
.

So?
.

So?
.

Missing me???
.

Riddhima was left astonished. Was he any astrologer of some kind? How did he exactly know what she had been feeling at the moment?

It’s nothing like that, though….
.

Stop lying, sweetheart!! I know you too well for that. In fact, I even know that right now, you are on your bed and playing with your hair, thinking about ME. Am I right or am I right?
.

Riddhima realized with amazement that Vansh was right and, she indeed had been subconsciously playing with her hair all this while.
How could Vansh read her so well in spite of not being around her? She was now sure that he was nothing less of a sorcerer.

But being her usual egoistic self, she wanted to tell him that he wasn’t right this time.

No, you are hot!
.

She gasped when she saw that instead of typing ‘not’, she had typed ‘hot’.

“What the hell? These stupid typos I tell you!” she thought angrily.

She dreaded to read the next message, but nonetheless, couldn’t stop herself from doing so.

.

So are you, my darling. *wink*

.

Riddhima felt so embarrassed by her mistyping, that she decided not to text him further. She saw that Vansh had instead sent her another message.

I didn’t know that a single kiss had so much power in it so as to change a girl overnight. Had I known this before, I’d have already done this deed before itself….
.

What do you mean?
.

I’m talking about our kiss that we had yesterday night, sweetheart.
.

You remember that? I thought you were drunk!
.

Even when I get drunk, I tend to remember each and everything that happened during that time accurately.
I also remember how you confessed that you love me too.
.

A part of her felt happy knowing that Vansh remembered everything, but a part of her strangely felt nervous too.

How typical of you Riddhima. You won’t reply to my messages whenever you start feeling embarrassed, right? How I wish I was there to see you blushing right now. Ngl, but you look really cute when your cheeks turn a bright red colour. They remind me of apples.
.

Excuse me? Did you just compare my cheeks with….God damn apples? That’s the worst analogy I’ve ever heard in a while!
.

Ignoring her rant, Vansh instead started ordering her.

When I come back, I want you to confess your feelings once again in front of me. And this time, I wouldn’t let you go with a simple ‘I love you’. I also would want to know about why you love me, and how much you love me.
.

Do you realize that you are such a hardcore and incorrigible flirt? I’d have never imagined that someone who looks so strict and ruthless from outside, is actually like this in real.
.

Oh yes, I absolutely love flirting with you and bringing out different types of reactions out of you.
But unfortunately for you, you do not know flirting AT ALL.
.

Wth! Of course, I know how to flirt!
.

But never saw you do that….
.

Huh, that’s because I don’t feel like flirting with you. But I’ve flirted with many guys around, you know. *smirk*
.

WHO ARE THEY? If I ever find them, they wouldn’t be able to live to see the next day.
.

Hey Riddhima, why aren’t you answering to my texts? I asked you something, right?
.

Alright, you want to ignore me? Fine. Be my guest. But tomorrow when I come back, I won’t leave you, sweetheart!
.

Riddhima giggled to herself. He’d learn his lesson for teasing her so much. Now she’d peacefully go to sleep, while Vansh would keep burning in jealousy over there.

Precap:

Riddhima goes to meet Kabir. Vansh gets angry when he overhears their conversation.

Hello everyone! That is it for today guys. Do vote and comment.

Peace out!
