I love you,but sorry..I can’t fulfill your wish

I dedicate this OS to Ishita Zoy who wants a MauNal story from me.

What if we misunderstood the person we loved?What if we became too late in realizing the sacrifice made by our ex-spouse?Can we get back to that person easily?

Ganesh Chathurti must be a festival which filled everyone with love.But for Mauli this festival gave only painful memories.It was the day which showed her the dark reality.I was the day where she witnessed own husband Kunal’s and her best friend Nandini’s betrayal.

That day is still clear in her mind.

Mauli:Kunal…Am I imperfect?Was my love weak?Why did you betray me?Why did you fall in love with Nandini?

Kunal:No Mauli.You are perfect.I know that your love is true.But love just happens.It’s not in our control.I myself don’t know how I fell in love with Nandini.

Mauli’s tears were flowing down.She stared at Nandini:Nandu…when your ex-husband Rajdeep tortured you I brought you here to give you a new life.But behind me you built your own new life snatching my husband from me?Are you not guilty Nandu?I am  ashamed to call you my friend.

Nandini’s tears rolled down her eyes.She just said only one thing:Please forgive me Mauli.

Mauli:Stop it Nandu.I would have forgiven you if you had killed my body.But you killed my heart by taking away my Kunal from me.I will never forgive you.You are only a serpent.

Nandini just cried.

Kunal:Stop It Mauli.Don’t shout at Nandini.I will not tolerate it.You can’t form tears in Nandini’s eyes.

Mauli was shocked.

Mauli:You don’t care about my tears.But Nandini’s fake tears tear your heart.

Wah Kunal.I curse myself for loving you a man like you.Get out of my life.

Kunal:Yes.I am leaving Mauli.I have no interest to live with you.

Kunal left holding Nandini’s hand.

Mauli broke down into tears.

Mauli:Why Kunal?When I asked you to get out of my life why did’nt you tell me that you can’t live without me and you cannot go away from me?

It’s been a year since Kunal and Mauli got separated.Mauli just know that Kunal and Nandini have gone to London.Mauli went for puja just for Dida.But there she got another shock.There was Nandini with another man.

Mauli:Oh God..why Ganesh Chathurthi is giving me shocks?

Mauli could not tolerate it anymore.She went near Nandini..pulled her closer and gave her a tight slap.

Nandini was shocked.Her man too was shocked.

Maan:Hey..how dare you?

Nandini:This is my best friend Mauli.Let it be Maan.

Mauli:Don’t say that I am your best friend.You lost that right long time ago Nandini.You know what?I should have given you this slap one year back.

Last year you betrayed me.But now you betrayed Kunal and is walking with another man shamelessly.You are such a shameless creature Nandini.I failed to understand you though I have been knowing since childhood.I tolerated when you betrayed me.But I will tolerate this time as you betrayed Kunal.You broke his heart.I cannot bear it.You will rot in hell.why did you even come to this temple?This temple is not for impure people like you.

Nandini:Kunal betrayed you.Still this much concern for him?Do you still love him?

Her question made Mauli question herself.

“Do I still love Kunal after his betrayal?Yes.It’s true that I still Kunal.He will be my first and last love.If our love is true it’s not easy to forget the person we loved the most even if he betrays us.I agreed to marry Ishaan only for my family”.

Mauli lied:No.Why should I love Kunal?He cheated me.

Nandini:Then why do you bother if I left Kunal or not?You just move on.

Mauli:Yes.I have moved on.My marriage is fixed.

Nandini was surprised:Congrats Mauli.I wish you all the best.

Mauli:I don’t need your wishes.You don’t even exist for me.

Nandini just gave her a pale smile.

Maan grabbed her hand and took her to a corner.

Maan:Nandini..I can’t tolerate Mauli insulting you.Why don’t you tell her the truth?You are getting hared from your own best friend for what you have not done.

Nandini:I can’t Maan.Because Kunal does’nt want it.

Maan:Mauli still loves Kunal.But she is still trying to spill hatred on Kunal just because she thinks that Kunal betrayed her.In this condition poor Kunal does’nt deserve this from the only woman he loves unconditionally.He deserves at least a drop of love or at least sympathy from Mauli.

Nandini:Mauli has moved on.She has decided to get married again.This is what Kunal wanted.So If she comes to know the truth Kunal’s last wish may not be fulfilled.

Suddenly they saw Mauli watching them with a shock.

Mauli:You guys are hiding something from me?

Nandini:No Mauli.

Mauli:No.Something is there.Tell me the truth.

Nandini:No Mauli.

Maan:Mauli…let her know the truth.As a doctor I feel Mauli has the right to know it.

Nandini did not know what to say.

Nandini:But Maan…

Maan:No Nandini.She should not be kept in dark anymore.

Maan looked at Mauli:I am Dr.Maan.Kunal’s doctor.He is my patient.Also my school friend.

Mauli was confused:What?I did’nt understand.

Nandini:Kunal was diagnosed with brain tumour.

Mauli was shocked.

Nandini:He did’nt want to be burden on you.Because he knew that if you come to know the truth you won’t be able to bear that pain.He also knew that after he leaves this world the whole life you will live crying in his memories.But he did’nt want it.So he wanted you to hate him and move on.He wanted you to start a new life and live happily.So he purposefully pretended to have an affair with me.For you I had to do this drama as Kunal forced me.Kunal did’nt want Maa and Dida too to miss him painfully.So he made them hate him by this betrayal drama.

Mauli was shattered.

Nandini:Kunal and I went to London.Actually he took me there to give me a job.I got a small job there.There Kunal started his treatment though he knew that he won’t survive.

Maan:Kunal started his treatment on my insistence.I wanted my best friend to take treatment.But…

Mauli’s tears were flowing down without any limit.

Mauli:Dr.Maan…tell..Kunal will be alright.Right?

Maan:I am sorry.There is no chance.

Mauli was broken completely.

Mauli:How can you say like that Dr.Maan?

Maan:Dr.Mauli…as a doctor you can understand it.Right?

Mauli burst into tears.

Mauli:I was supposed to be there with my Kunal in his critical stage.But instead of that I was blaming him daily.How could I even think that my Kunal would cheat me?I am sorry Nandu.I should have thought that my Nandu won’t cheat me.I could’nt be a good wife or a good friend.

Nandini held her hand weeping:No Mauli.You are the best wife and best friend.That’s why Kunal and I love you very much.You gave me a new life.You freed me from Rajdeep.So I found my true love in Dr.Maan.

Mauli hugged Nandini crying:My Kunal…

Maan:Kunal wishes to spend his last days in his home land.So we brought him here.

Mauli was surprised:Means..my Kunal is here.

Maan:Yes.He wanted to see his Maa,Dida and you without your own knowledge.So we were stalking you all secretly.

Nandini:When you,Maa and dida had gone to park we had brought Kunal also there.Without your knowledge he watched all of you.He was so happy.

Mauli wept:Please….I want to see Kunal.Please…

Maan:Ok.

Maan and Nandini took Mauli to see Kunal.He was laid on the bed.Kunal could’nt believe his eyes.

Kunal:Mauli!

Mauli burst into tears:Kunal!

She ran towards him and embraced him.Tears rolled down his cheeks.

Mauli:I came to know the truth.Please forgive me for accusing you of adultery.

Kunal:No Mauli.It’s because I made you think so.

Kunal stared at Maan and Nandini:Why did you tell the truth to Mauli?I had told you guys to not tell her the truth.See..how she is in pain.

Mauli:Don’t blame them Kunal.I only made them spill the truth.I am grateful to them for telling the truth.Otherwise I would not have forgiven myself for misunderstanding you and Nandu.

Kunal wiped her tears.

Kunal:I can’t bear your tears Mauli.That’s why I did all this to be hated by you.So that you will move on and live happily.

Mauli:Stop it Kunal.Enough of your mahanta.I am taking you home.

Kunal:No Mauli.Please don’t tell this to Maa and Dida.They won’t be able to see me in this condition.

Mauli :But Kunal…

Kunal held her hand:Please Mauli.

Mauli nodded painfully.

Mauli lied to the family members about medical conference and stayed with Kunal to look after him.

She took care of him every moment.

Kunal felt sad.

Kunal:Mauli..don’t waste your time by looking after a dying patient who has no hope to live.

Mauli kept her finger on his lips.

Mauli:Who said there is no hope?We will live together for many more years Kunal.

They looked at each other tearfully.

Kunal:Come to reality Mauli.Don’t be in a dream world.

Mauli burst into tears and embraced him.

The next day…

Mauli was shattered to see Kunal struggling hard to bear pain.She caressed his head.

Mauli:No Kunal.You will be fine soon.

Kunal:Mauli…please promise me that you will remarry a nice guy and live happily.

Mauli looked at him with teary eyes.

Kunal:Mauli please…

Mauli could not open her eyes.

Slowly Kunal fell on her body unconscious.

Maan and Geet reached there.

Mauli caressed him:Kunal…Kunal…

Slowly she moved from him and he fell on the bed lifelessly making them realize that he has left his world.

Mauli screamed:Kunal…………………

She cried falling on his body while Nandini tried to console her crying.Maan pulled her back.

Nandini:Maan…Mauli….

Maan:Let them be alone for some time Nandini.

Nandini nodded weeping.

Days passed by….

Mauli removed her engagement ring and gave it to Ishaan.

Mauli:Sorry Ishaan.I can’t marry you.

Ishaan was shocked:But Mauli…why?

Mauli:My heart has space only for one person…for my Kunal.

She just walked off leaving him in shock.

Mauli looked at Kunal’s photograph which had a garland over it.

She hugged the photograph throwing away the garland shedding tears.

Mauli:Sorry Kunal for not fulfilling your last wish by marrying someone else.I love you,but sorry..I can’t fulfill your wish.After knowing the truth about you and your unconditional love I can never move on in my life.Because Mauli is only Kunal’s till her last breath.Mauli is made by God only for her Kunal.We will live together in the next 6 births.It’s my promise to you.
