After some time Bela woke up.She was shocked to find herself on the bed.Sumitra smiled.

SUMITRA:Bela,don’t be scared.You fainted.So I placed you on the bed.

BELA:How did I faint?

SUMITRA:I think you need to have a thorough medical check up.I will take you to the hospital.

BELA:No thanks.

SUMITRA:No.You should not ignore these things.Health is more important and it is my right to take care of my daughter in law.

Sumitra took Bela to the hospital.They had a check up.

The next day…

Bela got a call from Sumitra.

SUMITRA:Bela,come to the hospital.Got your report.

Bela went to the hospital.
BELA:Where is the report Sumitra aunty?Did you read it?Everything is ok.Right?

SUMITRA:No,I did’nt open it.We will open the report in your doctor Padma’s presence.Only she can explain to us what exactly is written in this report.

They met Dr.Padma.

P:I am sorry Bela.You have brain tumor.

Bela was shocked:What?

P:Sorry…you have only a few days left.

Bela burst into tears.

P:Bela,don’t cry.Be strong.Face the reality.If you have positive attitude towards it miracles can happen.Your life will be saved.At least the length of your life will be extended.

Sumitra shed tears:How will I tell this to Mahir?My son’s heart will be broken.

Bela went out crying.Sumitra followed her:Bela!

SUMITRA:Bela…I know that in this condition I should not talk to you like this.But Bela I am a mother and a mother’s first preference will always be his son.I care a lot for Mahir.In this condition if you marry Mahir what will be his life?

Bela stared at Sumitra:Aunty!

SUMITRA:I know I am cruel to you.But since your last days have reached if you marry Mahir his life would be spoiled.He will be tagged as a widower.If he becomes a widower soon everybody will say that it’s because of his horoscope that he lost his wife so soon.Then do you think he will ever have a dignified life in the society?

Bela burst into tears:You are right aunty.I can understand.I will tell Mahir.

SUMITRA:Don’t tell Mahir.If he comes to know about your disease he will be shattered.He will never back out from the wedding as he loves you that much.

Bela cried silently.

Bela was crying in her bed room.
BELA:God,why this happened to me?

Mahir rang her up.Bela picked up the phone.

MAHIR:Hello Bela.Sorry…I had to leave for Bangalore without informing you.Because of network trouble I could’nt get you over the phone.

Bela got relief hearing Mahir’s voice.

MAHIR:There is one more sad news Bela.Unexpectedly more work came to me and I have to stay in Bangalore for more days.So I can reach there only 3 days before the wedding.

Bela felt sad.She was longing for Mahir’s presence.

MAHIR:Bela…I feel sad for not able to see you in the saree I gifted.But I imagined you in that saree.You looked very pretty.

Bela smiled with tears in her eyes.

Suddenly she remembered about her disease.She was shattered.

MAHIR:Bela,I am keeping the phone down as some important call is coming.

He cut the phone.Bela kept crying.

Mahir:Miss you Bela…

Bela lay down on the bed again as her heart was heavy with pain.
BELA:Mahir,May be I am not lucky enough to get your love for a long time.

After a few days…

Bela’s phone rang.She picked up the phone.

“Bela…Is this Bela?”

BELA:Yes.Who is this?

“I am Dr.Padma.I want to meet you soon.I want to talk to you about the report”.

BELA:Now what is left to talk Dr?

P:A very important truth about your disease.
BELA:The biggest truth is my disease which is going to take over my life.What more is going to be there?

P:When you hear the truth you will realize that.

Bela met Dr.Padma.

P:I am sorry Bela.I had to do to you against my Medical Ethnics.I am really sorry.

BELA:What are you saying Doctor?I can’t understand anything.

P:Bela,you have no brain tumor.You are perfectly alright.You have no health issues.

Bela was surprised as well as shocked.

P:I was lying to you.

Bela was shocked:Why did you lie?

P:For Sumitra.She is my friend.She has helped me a lot.So she asked me to do this in return of her favour.

Bela was again shocked:But why?

P:Because Sumitra did’nt want you and Mahir to get married.She drugged your juice.So you fainted.She utilized that opportunity to start her drama.In fact purposefully she faked head ache to send Mahir to Bangalore to start her drama.Now she is purposefully delaying Mahir’s work to make him continue staying in Bangalore.So that you both won’t meet each other.

Bela was completely shocked.

P:But guilt did’nt give me peace of mind.So I decided to confess the truth to you.Anyways I am shifting to London next week.Very far from Sumitra.Please don’t tell this to Sumitra until I move to London.Otherwise I don’t know in anger what she will do to me.Sumitra is a dangerous woman who can go to any extent.If she had’nt helped me during my bad times I would not have supported her dirty deed.

BELA:Ok.And thanks for revealing such a big truth to me.

Bela could’nt sleep at night.
BELA:How can I tell Mahir that his mom whom he trusts is actually his destroyer?He will be shattered.God,please give us the strength to bear the after effects.

After a few days…

Padma left to London.Then Bela confronted Sumitra.

SUMITRA:Bela,only a few more days are left for the wedding.Before the mehendi function itself you will cancel the wedding.Right?

BELA:But Sumitra aunty…what reason should I tell others for cancelling the wedding?Because you don’t want me to reveal the news about my disease to others.Right?

SUMITRA:You can tell others that you felt Mahir and you have no match with each other.Something like that.

BELA:Sorry Sumitra aunty.Telling lies is not my habit.It is your habit.You lied about your love to Mahir.Now you made another person lie to create a gap between me and Mahir.

Sumitra was stunned:What are you saying Bela?
