His first and only love (Chapter 1)

Hey everyone!! How have you all been?
I’m back with another rikara ff.. initially I was planning on writing an ishkara ff but I have put that on the waiting list as I thought of writing a different story for rikara…so here it is..also i wont be able to post pics as I’m a little busy.. I hope you guys like it..

“Gauri, the boy and his family will be coming tomorrow. You’re ok with it right?” Gauri’s mom asked as she cut the call.

“Yes ma.” Gauri replied reluctantly and left for her room.

She didn’t want to marry. Her parents’ marriage made her terrified of the concept of marriage. They would constantly fight but somehow either of them never left eachother. But that was not all, she believed in love, the kind where both the people would lose themselves in eachother. And for some reason, she never felt like that for anyone. She was scared of her emotional disbalance, she never really felt the same about anything, her feelings about a certain thing always kept changing. She wanted love to be constant, not a mere attraction.

What if I I never fall in love with my husband, whoever he is? Gauri couldn’t help but worry.

However she couldn’t convince her parents to delay her marriage anymore. She was 25 now and they considered it to be the age she should get married. There was no escape from her marriage now. And she didn’t even once bother to listen to her parents tell her about the boy and neither did she check him up. She just didn’t want to. So, she decided to finally get some sleep and just go with the flow. Her destiny was now in the hands of her Shankar ji.

“This is our daughter Gauri”
Gauri heard her father say as she walked in with the tray of tea to the boy’s family. She looked up from the tray and glanced around at the family. And then her eyes locked with a pair of brown eyes that were already watching her and she almost stopped breathing, standing rooted to the ground.

Him. Is it really….Him?
How?

He smiled brightly at her as if the shock on her face wasn’t visible to him. Quickly, turning her gaze away she looked at the other people around. A middle aged man and woman, unmistakably his dad and mom were smiling at her and then her eyes fell on the girl sitting next to him, grinning at her. She was a little younger than Gauri, probably 21 or 22.

Was it her? She grew up so much..
Gauri thought as she felt a little warm seeing the young woman infront of her whom she last saw as a kid.
It was only when her mom nudged her elbow to go and serve everyone the tea that she realised the situation she was in. Gathering up all her courage, she stepped ahead and served the tea with a smile. His mom, his dad, her dad, his sister and then finally, him.
He looked at her the same way he always did in the past while she looked on nervous.

“Thank you.” He said as she handed him the cup of tea. Her heart skipped a beat listening to his voice, it had been years since the last time she heard him and his voice had changed quite a lot.

Puberty phase 2, maybe. She thought.

Still surprised, she nodded and quickly took her place next to her mother. She was so damn nervous. If she could, then she would just run away and lock herself up.

But instead of looking away, she found her curiosity rising up. She was now looking at him, looking at the changes he had over the years, he looked so different now. He had grown his hair, and even though she didn’t want to admit it, he looked damn handsome in it! And then, a thought crossed her mind. She wanted to touch his hair, move her hands through his tresses!

Realizing her thoughts were going in the wrong way, she quickly shooed them away.

What was he doing here? Isn’t he over it already?
She thought.

Although deep down she felt a little happy, she jerked away those feelings.

Why does he affect me so much? Every damn time!

“Gauri, my name is Tej. This is my wife Jhanvi and that is my daughter Priyanka and this is my son, Omkara.” Tej introduced everyone to her with a smile.

But she didn’t really need the introduction, she knew them well through Priyanka and him of course.

“Namaste” Gauri said, with a smile.

Soon, the elders started talking about different things while Gauri sat there nervously, how she wished she could just disappear. She wanted to tell all this to Anika, her best friend but right now she had to get done with this.

Meanwhile, Omkara kept stealing glances at her. He was mesmerised in her beauty. It had been 11 years since the last time they saw eachother. She had definitely grown up, her features were now more matured. But her eyes were still the same big curious eyes. Despite all these years, if there was something that hadn’t changed, then it was his undying love for her. He did try to forget her, but he could never think of any other girl in his life other than Gauri. But despite his strong feelings for her, he had left the thought of ever being able to be with her because as per him, she was an angel, and he didn’t have her written in his fate. But it seemed like destiny had other plans for them.

But then, he still wasn’t ready to speak to her. He didn’t know what he would say when she confronted him for sending an alliance, he was nervous.

Oh the things she can do to me…
Om thought.

“So beta, you and Gauri were in the same school?” Gauri’s dad asked him jerking him away from his thoughts.

He froze at the question. Would he have to tell him everything now? From Gauri, he had heard about her father and how her father disliked her being around guys. He didn’t even think of an answer to the question. He looked at Gauri nervously and he could see the horror in her eyes. Om gulped in fear.

What if her father doesn’t take it in the right way? What if he thinks I’m some kind of a flirt or something? Oh God help me..

Whether God helped him or not, his sister did come to his rescue.

“Yes uncle, we were in the same school bus. I and Gauri di used to talk a lot because we were in the same club. And then we started talking in bus too.”

Gauri looked at Priyanka in relief as she had answered the question truthfully and in a way that was safe.

“Oh that’s great then. So you guys know eachother.” Gauri’s dad said. “So Gauri and Omkara also knew eachother?”

Shit. Back to square one. Omkara thought.

“Ya uncle. They’ve talked a few times actually.” Priyanka replied.

Omkara just smiled at him.

“This is such a surprise! Gauri, did you know that when the proposal came?” Gauri’s mom was the one who asked the question this time.

I would know only if I checked the proposal right? I didn’t even allow Anika to look into it as I was least interested to marry. But look at what games shankar ji is playing, he must be laughing there seeing me in this situation.
Gauri thought.

“No ma. Actually I didn’t look into the proposal…” Gauri replied honestly.

Ah that explains why I’m here and why she didn’t already stop me from coming. Omkara realised.

After their parents talked for some more time, both Tej and Harsh, Gauri’s father found themselves becoming friends.

“I think Om and Gauri should talk a little in private. Is it ok with you?” Jhanvi asked and Gauri could feel her body stiffen at the thought of having to talk to him, alone.

“Is that a thing to ask?” Gauri’s father asked and then sent away both Omkara and Gauri to her room. She lead the way and he followed her in silence. Once she was inside her room, she stopped and waited for Omkara to enter.

Gauri could feel her heart slamming against her chest as she turned around to face him nervously and he took baby steps towards her. As she stepped backward, her foot slipped due to her dupatta and she was about to fall but Omkara quickly held her. They had an eyelock.

Gauri was the first one to break away from the moment. His eyes, she always loved looking into them, they were always so intense, full of emotions and magnetic, she would always get lost in them.
But right now she had to confront him. Why did he return? Didn’t she already break his heart enough?

She stepped back from him and looked away. “Sorry..”
“It’s ok” Omkara replied. And as if reading her mind said, “I can explain what happened. I didn’t do anything. I swear.”

He didn’t have to swear. She trusted him, even though he was a little playful, he wouldn’t lie to her. His truth reflected in his eyes and it was something she always admired.

“Then why are you here?” Gauri asked trying her best to be cold. But that was something she was never successful in doing, she was a soft spoken girl after all. “If you didn’t do anything? Then how come your family sent my family this alliance?”

“I can explain, Gauri.”

To be continued….
