Chapter 3
Cuddles that make you better!

“Neil..wake up..” Avni whispered.

Neil groaned.

“What happened..it’s so early in the morning..” he wailed.

“Neil.. I hear something downstairs..” Avni said in fear.

Neil opened his tired eyes slowly.

“Don’t know what this one is saying..I hardly got sleep last night..coz of yur stupid cooki-”

Neil was cut off by a another spooky sound. Avni shrieked.

“Neil…”

Neil was taken back this time.

“It sounds so..so..close” Avni mumbled.

Neil stepped forward.

“let’s go and see” said Neil bravely.

“NO!!” Avni shouted as she hugged Neil.

“A..” started Neil.

Avni hugged Neil tight. Neil smiled for a second and hugged Avni tight. The warmth of Neil made Avni snuggle in close. Avni still shivered scared.
Neil stroked Avni gently.

“Don’t worry..” he whispered softly.

Avni suddenly came back to her senses. She stared at Neil who was still stroking her. She suddenly pulled his hand away.

“I don’t need your sympathy!!” she roared..

Avni felt a wave of embarrasement flow through her body.

“I was just going to-” said Neil but he was cut off with another sound.

“I need to go down” said Neil as he headed downstairs.

“There’s the rascal” Shouted Neil.

“A cat?” Asked Avni confused. “How did it get here?”

The cat was now jumping up and down in the sofa. It’s scratches were all over the table.

Avni saw the window in the kitchen opened.

“Oh god! I forgot to close the window after baking the cookies!” She said.

Neil stared at her as let the cat go.

“How could you be so careless” he said after closing the window.

“It was a mistake okay” Avni replied back firmly.

“Well I think making mistakes means you are careless” Neil roared back.

“I’m sorry okay..it won’t happen again!”

“Sorry? is that enough?” Neil questioned her.

“Yes sir..I think it is enough..It’s not like a thief came in” she yelled back.

“Oh really miss? what if a thief barged in?” Neil shouted.

Avni sighed.

“You know what Mr. Neil? For one moment I thought you were nice..but I was..I was wrong..You are still a horrible police-man!!!”

Avni stomped back to the bedroom.

“I’ve had enough!!” she mumbled. “I’m going back home!”

She rushed her way to the cupboard and pulled all her clothes to the floor.

“Wait..what about my books!” she rushed back her couch, where her books were lying.

She then came back to the cupboard again..to pack her clothes.

“OHH!!” she screamed as she slipt on her own clothes.

“I got you!” a voice whispered.

Avni came back to her senses. She was now lying on Neil’s arms. Neil stared right into Avni’s eyes. Avni stared back.

“Stop rushing..” he mouthed.

“Let go of me” said Avni softly.

Neil shook his head.

“Not so quick..first listen to me..do you really want to go back home and trouble your maa by telling our problems to her?” Neil questioned Avni.

His voice was way quieter than before.

“Tell me!! do you want to?!”

Avni slowly shook her head.

Neil let go of her.

“I.. Avni started. But she couldn’t continue anymore as she was interrupted by a waterfall of tears.

Neil hugged her tight.

“It’s okay” Neil said softly

This time Avni hugged him back. Avni needed this hug after so long. She cried a lot. Neil kept her close, understanding her pain.

“I’m sorry” Avni said. “It’s my fault”

“No..I shouldn’t have got angry with you” Neil apologised. “I’m sorry”

They were both interrupted by Neil’s phone call
