Heart Beat (Episode 3) by Anisha

**Contradiction**

The night finally arrived. I was to accompany mom dad for the inauguration of our new hotel along with our business partners The Gadodia’s. It was the first time I was going to meet them, I wasn’t excited neither interested! But dad had forced me so have to attend now or no pocket money for a year. Wearing a white shirt with a red satin tie and black jean, I stepped into the car. I hate business parties. For God’s sake please someone save me!!..

I guess there won’t be anything good. All oldie’s and not a single girl to watch out. I wish I had died before getting into these stupid stuff. We reached the venue and me and dad came out of the car. It had to be always media and persons involved like today. I sighed as I stepped out right behind mom and dad. I hated these parties, was it so important to do parties with such oldies? And then this stupid publicity? Where the hell does that come from inaugurating a hotel?

We came inside and thousands of people welcomed us. Dad introduced many of them with me and I was as always least interested!!.. I just would put up a smile and answered the simple questions they put through.

After a while, I settled down at the corner of the couch. Finally I found out a corner to settle down peacefully. The commotions and wishes were irritating me to hell and I hated each and everything about the party.

My eyes followed everywhere and resolved on a girl who has been talking to another one. She wasn’t looking like she was aware what she could do to a man but yes she was quite bold. The other girl by her side was pulled out by her boy friend, I guess and she stood there alone. I looked at her and she was perfect!!.. Wearing a black short dress, ending above her knees, showing her curves the perfect naughty and nice embrace. Slim, sleek and s*xy, she was hot!!..

She moved upstairs, swaying along and I couldn’t resist but meet her.

“Hey!” I just moved out, standing just in front of her.

“Excuse me?” she looked dazed.

“I said hello” I approached.

“Hi” she spoke voluntarily.

“You know, you look…” I stopped as she smirked.

“Hot?”

“s*x goddess!” my tongue blurted out revocably and she widened her eyes, in shock. “Can you please tell me your name, beautiful lady?” I said, diverting the topic.

“None of your business!” she rolled her eyes as she walked past me.

“Hey! It was to be appreciated!”

“But I don’t really think so. Stop flirting and get into something serious” she rolled her eyes, making me smirk again.

“Will you marry me?” I kneeled down in front of her. She looked at me as if I was crazy.

“Marry? You know the meaning of marraige?” she crisscrossed her arms across her chest.

“Yeah! It’s like a stupid cage we people get into. Today love, tomorrow betrayal; today happy, tomorrow dull. Marraige is like the daily lunch we have!” we walked together side by side.

“Dal-Chawal?” she poked me in between.

“Somewhat! And Dal-Chawal for life time” I sighed.

“You’re against the marraige system?”

“I hate marraige stuff! It sucks!!” I made a yew face and she laughed.

“Then why did you just propose me?”

“You asked to stop flirting and try something serious!” I shrugged.

“You’re impossible!” she laughed.

“I know that!” I showed my teeth “By the way, you’re against marriage? Same like me?”

“Not yet! I think that’s the best thing anyone experiences. ‘Marraige’ isn’t just of it, it should be a successful, a perfect marraige. A happy marraige is about three things: memories of togetherness, forgiveness of mistakes and a promise to never give up on each other. A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person, which I guess you can’t do!” she laughed a small one and continued “The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It’s a choice you make – not just on your wedding day, but over and over again – and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your spouse”

“Well we are quite different then. I have a rather ‘hate’ feeling towards marriage. Marriage is not a word. It’s a sentence, a life sentence. It is a three ring circus: engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering. It life is full of excitement and frustration:In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the NEIGHBOR listens” she laughed again “What’s so funny? It’s the truth!”

“Damn your truth!” she laughed harder this time.

“It’s also about promises and you see I can’t promise as well”

“Well you’re not wrong but a little different to me” she smiled.

“But you have a great knowledge! I would love to learn from you” I winked.

“And I would love to teach you” she winked back. I opened my mouth to say something but someone called her and we crossed paths.

“Shit! What’s your name?” I ran back behind her.

“You’ll come to know soon” a playful smile playing on her lips and she waved an excuse.

An hour passed by and I was ready to go home. It didn’t matter dad would give me my pocket money or not but of course I am not at all interested in this party. It was like a huge burden I had carried from past three hours.

“Can we please move dad?” I pondered upon him and he as usual gave me his toughest look. He then pulled me all along him to the center of the hall to meet his colleagues and partners. After meeting all of them, he asked about some lady to a man. I was seriously least bothered!!..

It was to be some old fat lady but no, no… It was HER!!..

“Swara, this is my son Sanskar about whom I was talking about yesterday and Sanskar this is Swara” dad spoke and my eyes widened. Wasn’t she the famous business women, who was always on page three? And I had been flirting around with her? Holy shit!!..

“Hey! Sanskar” she smiled gorgeously and dad moved out for us to have a talk.

“Sanky for you, mam” I winked and she laughed again.

“You won’t change!”

“Never!” I winked again.

“Hmm.. I like that! Sanskar Maheshwari”

“Sanky!” I sighed.

“Huh?”

“Call me Sanky, mam”

“Okay! Sanky!” she laughed and I was like, I died out at that spot hearing her laugh. It was damn so mesmerising!!..

“Dear Heart, please stop thumping so hard from my chest whenever she’s around. The thumping is so loud she might be able to hear it soon”
