Harsh Nagar: I don’t think I can afford paternity leave

Being part of a famous show like Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, comes with a lot of responsibilities that include but are not limited to promotions of content. Harsh Nagar, talks about his experiences in an interview with BT and says, “I was born in Delhi and have lived in Mumbai, but the shows that we call regressive still do very well in rural areas. Even in the metros and other cities, the older generation still wants to see shows with the saas-bahu concept. Concepts of so-called regressive shows somewhere have relatability in real life and that is why they exist and people like watching them, too, especially among the rural population. People in India don’t like watching simple and real shows. I personally used to like relatable content like Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, but then it didn’t work on TV and went off air.”

Harsh, who has also played a father in one of his films, says he doesn’t mind aging on the small screen aswell. “I have done that in one of my films and I don’t mind doing that in a TV serial, too. I would not mind playing a father to someone of my age. Aamir Khan, my favourite actor, has done that in films like Dangal and Talaash. Ab ek actor kitna romance karega on screen?” he says with a laugh.

Harsh is married to former Miss India Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas. When asked if the couple is planning to extend their family, he says, “As of now, I don’t have the time to start a family given that I’m doing a daily soap. Virat Kohli can take paternity leave, but I don’t think I can afford one while doing a daily soap. I don’t think I can be with my wife throughout this period, which requires me to be working non-stop. We have time to start a family as both of us are still healthy and young.”
