Chapter 1

(TWINKLE)

I changed myself into a loose top and shorts and dumped the dress I had been wearing into the laundry bag. I pulled out my phone and texted Naina. I didn’t want her to be annoyed the rest of the night for disturbing her romantic and intimate moment.

Me: Naina, don’t forget to get the clothes from the laundry. It’s your responsibility today.

Naina couldn’t remember the infinitesimal things. I’d to remind her about all her responsibilities which we’d divided among ourselves. ‘God knows what she’ll do after getting married’, I thought and let out a sigh of relief. Suddenly, my phone vibrated and I checked it to find Naina’s text.

Naina: Okay.

It seemed harmless enough which meant I didn’t have to fear any of our arguments. I placed my phone on the table and took out my books from the cupboard. I switched on the room conditioner and settled down on the bed to study, but who is ever in the mood to study!

I got up and walked towards the kitchen. I searched up the shelves and drawers and found a pack of ready-to-eat white sauce pasta. I would’ve jumped on seeing my favourite pasta which I could’ve without sharing, but I feared Naina to come back really soon and quickly emptied the pack in a vessel and adding some water, let it boil.

___

I settled down on my bed again with my laptop open in front of me. I clicked on the ‘Downloads’ folder to search for a movie which I could watch while eating. I was searching through the folder when my phone vibrated. I pulled it out and saw the sender. It was an unknown number. I ignored the messaged. These random texts!

My phone vibrated again and I pulled it out thinking it to be Naina, but it was again the same number. I opened the messages to block the number and just glanced over the texts.

Sender: Hey! It’s Kunj.
Wassup!
Me: Hey!

I was elated to see his message. I had stalked him everywhere, but his number wasn’t to be found anywhere. But wait! How does he know my number! Is it there on any of the social networking sites?

I quickly checked all my accounts and found that I hadn’t given my number anywhere. I didn’t want any random person to text me. Surely I was happy with Kunj texting me, but I needed to know from where did he get my number.

Kunj: Can you come out to your patio?

What the hell! Why now?

Me: At this hour of the night?
Kunj: There’s nothing to fear about.

Who told him I’m afraid? Certainly I wasn’t. But I don’t want him to see how flushed I am. Already.

Me: Actually I’m having my dinner. If you could possibly continue texting me?
Kunj: Okay. Are you still home alone?
Me: Yes. Naina and Tushar went for dinner.
Kunj: Shall I come over till then?

God! I feel the colour on my cheeks rising. I felt great seeing Kunj’s concern towards me, but I didn’t know what to do! I was flustered. I wanted him not to come because I was completely flushed by now and I did want him to come on the other side.

Me: Okay.

I don’t know why I typed that, but I did. I smiled looking at the conversation and saved his number by the contact name ‘Love’.
