The story starts in Jodhpur where a school girl Deepika is shown visiting school. Principal invites everyone to DGS Vidya Mandir School and calls Deepika to come on stage and receive 1st prize. Deepika receives multiple prizes in different categories. Deepika’s friend Jahnvi feels jealous of her. Judge gifts his pen to Deepika and says she is the future of our country. Students taunt that the future is very dark. Principal scolds students for degrading someone due to her colour. Deepika says she is proud of her colour as that is the only thing she got from her mother. She recites a poem written by her mother which depicts that a person’s character is most important that his/her skin tone. All students clap for her while Jahnvi walks away burning in jealousy.
Deepika meets Jahnvi and says she won the prizes for her and gives all the trophies to her. Jahnvi says she is happy for Deepika. At home, Jahnvi’s mother and Deepika’s stepmother Shobha taunts her husband to go and bring her daughter. Father gets ready. Deepika walks in and tells her father that she is back home. Shobha yells why god shows her sorrows first and asks where is her daughter. Deepika shows Jahnvi walking in with trophies. Shobha asks Jahnvi if she won all these trophies. Jahnvi asks if she thinks Deepika won them. Shobha performs Jahnvi’s nazar and says her daughter is the fairest in the whole locality and criticises Deepika. Father tells Shobha that she forgot that a black dot is needed to ward of fair tone’s nazar. He applies kala teeka to Jahnvi and praises her and asks Deepkia to work hard and achieve success like her sister.
Next day, Shobha throws tantrums and breaks Deepika’s mother’s photos. She challenges her husband to throw Deepika and her mother’s photo out of the house. Father warns her to dare not eye on his daughter. She says let Deepika stay in some corner of the house. Jahnvi asks her to give her a bath soap. Deepika walks out of bathroom with the soap. Shobha slaps her for using a 100 rs soap and humiliates her. Father comforts Deepika. After some time, Deepika’s class teacher comes to meet her and praises her for winning prizes. Shobha hears that and asks teacher to bless Jahnvi as she won the prizes. Teacher reveals that Deepika won the prizes and suggests Shobha to treat her both daughters equally. Father taunts Shobha. Shobha determines to get rid of Deepika soon.
Shobha takes Deepika and Jahnvi to a mela and leaves her there by tricking her. Deepika gets afraid not finding her stepmother. She visits a temple and prays god to return her to her mummy. Panditji holds her shoulder. After 15 years, a grown up Deepika is seen singing and praying in a temple. Dr Chirag is introduced who treats people around him well. He reaches a medical camp and tells his colleagues that he will visit a temple and return patients gather. Colleague asks if he believes in religion being a man of science. Chirag says faith and science should walk together; when an invisible virus troubles them, they remember god. He visits temple and stands next to Deepika during aarti. He then walks away.
After pooja, Panditji says she sings bhajan and serves god, so she should ask something for herself from god. Deepika says Savra/Krishna gave her sanvra/dark colour, people like them both and she doesn’t need anything more. Panditji reminds how her mother left her in mela 15 years ago. Deepika says god sent Panditji to hold her hand then, she doesn’t criticise her mother. She goes to finish some work and notices an old lady collapsing. She runs searching for water, takes panchamruth from Panditji, and sprinkles it on the old lady. Old lady regains consciousness. Chirag notices that and gets impressed.
Precap: Old lady says there would be que of boy for a good natured Deepika. Panditji says society looks at colour and not nature. Chirag’s mother says she needs a beautiful DIL. She visits Jahnvi’s fashion show and decides to make her as her DIL.
