Dheeraj Dhoopar Talks about His Upcoming Project on OTT, ‘Tatlubaaz’
Having made a name for himself as a prominent television actor, Dheeraj Dhoopar is now venturing into the world of OTT with the web series “Tatlubaaz,” where he takes on the lead role as a con man. However, this move doesn’t signify his departure from the small screen. Instead, Dheeraj envisions a career that spans across all mediums simultaneously, emphasizing his commitment to diverse acting opportunities.
Talking about it in a recent interview, Dheeraj shares, “I aspire to be recognized as an actor who seamlessly navigates all forms of media, occupying a unique niche. I have no intention of forsaking one medium for another. My primary focus is acting, and the medium should not limit or define my passion for this craft. I prefer not to be pigeonholed as a TV actor, as this would only complicate the process of breaking down barriers between different platforms.”
Acknowledging the hard work of TV actors, Dheeraj expresses his pride in the dedication they put into their roles. He highlights the rigorous schedule of producing new episodes regularly and the constant emotional demands of the medium. Despite potential concerns regarding casting TV actors in OTT projects, he underscores the blurring lines between these mediums. Remarkably, he secured his debut OTT project just two months after his last TV show, “Sherdil Shergill,” concluded in January.
Having been associated with long-running TV shows like “Sasural Simar Ka” and “Kundali Bhagya,” Dheeraj reflects on his experience with “Sherdil Shergill,” which didn’t perform as expected in the ratings. He acknowledges the challenges faced when ratings decline but emphasizes that the quality of content and storytelling ultimately sustains viewership.
Discussing intimate scenes often found in OTT content, Dheeraj, who is married and a father, indicates that he is open to such scenes if they are integral to the script and are executed tastefully. He appreciates the more sensitive approach taken in creating content today, focusing on storytelling rather than sensationalism.
Surprisingly, Dheeraj expresses his desire to explore negative characters in addition to his usual hero roles. He sees tremendous potential in portraying antagonists and believes there is much to explore in such roles.
On a personal note, Dheeraj is enjoying a happy family life with his wife, actress Vinny Arora, and their son born in August 2022. He shares the profound impact of fatherhood on his life, emphasizing the responsibilities and joy that come with it. His newfound perspective has made him more attuned to the needs and future planning for his family. Fatherhood, he says, is the most incredible gift and has brought about a transformative change within him.
