It all depends on my family- A DevAkshi FF: Part 8

Recap: Dev and Sonakshi celebrate, and dance.

Sonakshi goes inside her house, still reminscing her dance, and chat with Dev. Hugging him, and dancing with him, it all felt so good. The warmth of his arms, she had loved it, and she felt as if she could stay in his arms forever. It was a weird feeling for her…

The family is asleep. Sonakshi quietly creeps up into her room, and sleeps, smiling. Dev too, quietly goes into his house, and into his mother’s room. He puts the blankets over Ishwari, kisses her on the forehead, and whispers “Good-night Maa,” but Ishwari is fast asleep, and doesn’t realise. Then, Dev happily runs into his room, and jumps onto the bed, dancing like an idiot, remembering his moments with Sonakshi.

NEXT MORNING:
Sonakshi’s alarm rings, and she quickly wakes up, because she has to go to Dev’s house.
Elena: Arey! Alarm baj gaya, aur to ek minute mein hi uth gayi! Varna to roz paanch minute, paanch minute karti rehti hain. (Arey! The alarm rang, and you got up so fast! Otherwise, everyday, you keep asking for five minutes and all.)
Sonakshi: To accha hi to hai ki jaldi uth gayi. Varna tu paanch minute deti kahan hai. Roz toilet jaane ki ladaai hoti hai hum dono ke beech. (It’s good na, that I got up early. As if you give me five minutes. Everyday, we are fighting about going to the toilet.)

Elena: Accha thikh hai! Aaj tu pehle toilet jaa, par jaldi bahar aana! (Ok fine! Today, you go to the toilet first, but come out fast!)
Sonakshi: Thikh hai! (Fine!)
Sonakshi quickly gets ready. She puts on very nice clothes, lipstick, and all that, thinking about Dev.
Elena: Ek minute!! Mujhe to lagta hai ‘Kuch to gadbad hai’! Pehle itni jaldi uthna, phir ye sab make-up, acche kapde! Koi boyfriend hai kya tera??! (One minute!! I think ‘Kuch to gadbad hain’! First you woke up so early, then this make-up, good clothes! Do you have a boyfriend??!)
Sonakshi (embarassed): Shut up, Elena ki bacchi!
Samar (Saurabh’s son) comes there.

Samar: Hi, Aunt!
Sonakshi: Yeh kya, Bua se Aunt?? (From Bua, to Aunt?) Wow!
Samar: Because, I am a modern boy!
Sonakshi: Buddhu, pehle ‘modern’, iss word ka speeling thikh se seekh! (Idiot, first learn the spelling of the word modern!)
She hugs Samar, and dresses him up for school, and he leaves.
Sonakshi quickly takes a rickshaw and reaches Dev’s house. Dev is dressed to go to office, but is waiting for Sonakshi to come before he leaves.
Sonakshi: Hi Dev!
Dev (runs to Sonakshi): Oh hi! At last you’re here!
They hug each other (in a friendly way).
Sonakshi: Tum mera intezaar kar rahe the? (Were you waiting for me?)
Dev: Nahi nahi! Bahar jo kutta hai na, Tommy, uska intezaar kar raha tha! Arey! Obviously tumhara hi intezaar kar raha tha yaar! (No no! Outside, there is a dog, Tommy. I was waiting for him! Obviously I was waiting for you, yaar!)
Sonakshi (laughs): You talk nonsense sometimes Dev!
Dev also laughs.
Sonakshi: By the way, yesterday you were looking so dashing… And now, back to Mr. Obodro..
Dev: Hello! What are you trying to say? Ab main stupid lag raha hoon? (Now am I looking stupid?)
Sonakshi: Ya, that’s what I’m trying to say! Itne buddhu lag rahe ho tum! (You’re looking so stupid!)
Dev hits her playfully.
Dev: But you are still looking beautiful.
They share a cute eyelock, smiling at each other. At this point, Ishwari comes there.
Sonakshi (breaking the eyelock): I badly enjoyed yesterday night!
Dev: Ya yaar! Especially the dance!
Ishwari stands there shocked, wondering what dance Dev and Sonakshi are talking about.
Sonakshi: Haan!

Dev sees Ishwari.
Dev: M-m- ma-maa!
Sonakshi (quickly turns): Auntyji?!
Ishwari: Kya baat kar rahe ho tum dono? Kaunsa dance? Kal raat kya hua? (What are you talking about? What dance? What happened yesterday night?)
Dev: W-wo-wo Maa, hu-hum wo….
Sonakshi: Auntyji, there is a serial on Star Plus… Wo, in that the hero and heroine sp- spend a n-n-ni-night together, in a restaurant… And they dance to- together. Ussi ke baare mein baat kar rahe the. (We were talking about that only.)
Dev: H-ha-haan Maa, we were talking about that. We both are fans of that serial.
Ishwari (surprised): Dev?! Tu kab se serial dekhne laga? (Dev?! Since when did you start watching serials?)

Dev: W-w-wo, last week.
Ishwari: And what is the name of this serial?
Dev and Sonakshi look at each other, scared. But, thankfully for them, Vicky interrupts at the right time.
Vicky: Maa, what’s there for breakfast?
Ishwari: Vicky, today there is Halwa, dosa, (she goes on and on)
Dev (whispers): Wait for me in the evening, I’ll drop you home.
Sonakshi taps Dev’s arm, signalling him to go to office, and she too runs off into the kitchen, as Dev gets out of the house.
SONAKSHI’S POV:
I was as scared as could be, if Auntyji asked me anything more about the dance, then I would be dead. Even Dev wasn’t there, I didn’t even have any support.
I worked nervously, the whole day, and kept trembling whenever I went near Auntyji. Fortunately, the day passed well, and she forgot about the topic altogether.
In the evening, I got out of the house, waiting for Dev, as he had promised to pick me up.

Sonakshi waits for a long time, but Dev doesn’t come. She is about to leave, when a car suddenly comes. It’s obviously Dev’s car.
Dev: Sona! I am so sorry, yaar. I had very important work. But, it was so boring, that I left it and came!
Sonakshi: Dev! How much time? I’ve been waiting for you since half-an-hour!
Dev gets out of the car.
Dev: Sona, sit inside na! Please! I am sorry!
He makes her sit inside, and gets in himself.
Sonakshi: Dev, next time, tum late aaye toh main… (Dev, next time, if you come late, then I will…..)

Dev: Toh tum kya karogi? (Then, what will you do?)
Sonakshi: Toh phir dosti khatam!!! (Then our friendship is over!!)
Dev: Arey! Sonakshi, you can’t end our friendship like that!
Sonakshi: Chill baba, I was joking!
Dev (relieved): Phew!
Sonakshi: You actually thought I was going to end our friendship?
Dev: You are a mad girl. You can do anything!
Sonakshi hits him on the arm.
Dev: Arey baba, I am driving, marna chahti ho kya? (do you want to die?)
They go on chatting, and finally they reach Sonakshi’s house.
Sonakshi: Bye!
Dev: One minute! I’ve got something for you!
Sonakshi: What?
Dev: Close your eyes, and give your hand.

Dev puts a bracelet around her hand, on which it is written ‘Best Friends For Life’…
Sonakshi opens her eyes, and is delighted to see the bracelet.
She joyfully hugs Dev.
Sonakshi: Thank you sooooo much Dev!!
Dev reciprocates, smiling. They separate after a while.
Sonakshi: Bye Dev! This is the best gift I’ve ever got!
Dev: Bye Sona! See you tomorrow!
