Comedy Nights With Kapil actor Atul Parchure opens up about his cancer diagnosis
Atul Parchure, a renowned actor known for his appearances in shows like Comedy Nights With Kapil, has left his fans in shock as he revealed his battle with cancer in a recent interview. The 56-year-old actor shared the initial symptoms he experienced, leading him to seek medical attention.
Recalling his journey, Atul stated, “I had just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary. During our trip to Australia and New Zealand, I began to feel unwell. Nausea and loss of appetite troubled me, indicating that something was amiss. My brother provided me with some medications, but they didn’t alleviate my condition. After consulting multiple doctors, I was advised to undergo an ultrasound. As the doctor conducted the examination, I noticed fear in his eyes, hinting at an underlying issue. It was then that I was informed about a 5-centimeter tumor in my liver, which was determined to be cancerous. I asked the doctor about my chances of recovery, to which he assured me, ‘Yes, you will.'”
Unfortunately, Atul experienced complications during his treatment, leading to a deterioration in his health and delays in the scheduled surgery.
“At first, my initial procedure did not go as planned. My pancreas was affected, exacerbating my condition. The incorrect treatment further worsened my health. I faced difficulty in walking and even experienced speech difficulties. In such circumstances, the doctor advised me to wait for a month and a half. They explained that if they proceeded with the surgery, I would suffer from prolonged jaundice or even face the risk of a watery liver or not survive. Consequently, I sought a second opinion, changed doctors, and received proper medication and chemotherapy,” Atul shared.
The popular Marathi actor, who has been a part of Kapil Sharma’s shows for years, expressed his regret for not being able to continue working with the team due to his health condition. He missed out on accompanying them on their international tour.
“I have been associated with Kapil Sharma’s shows for many years. They had called me to portray Sumona’s father. Unfortunately, due to my cancer, I couldn’t perform in those episodes. I had the opportunity to join Kapil on the international tour, but my health didn’t permit it. I am eagerly waiting to learn about my complete recovery,” Atul added.
Atul Parchure has made notable appearances in various shows, including R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya, Jago Mohan Pyaare, Bhago Mohan Pyare, and Comedy Nights With Kapil, showcasing his talent and leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
