Shefali walked slowly to her mom’s room. She was tired of all this, her mom always sad, constant hospital visits. She thought about Karthik and a smile lit her lips. He always made her smile, but she couldn’t be selfish to spoil his life. Being with her, came with all her responsibilities which included her sick mother. She could never put someone through what she was undergoing. Strong on the outside but broken inside.

She heard laughter as she neared the room and she was shocked. Her mom hadn’t laughed for years. As she entered the room she saw Karthik there and her heart beat faster.

“What are you doing here?”

Before Karthik could answer her mother said ” is this the way to talk to your friend”

Seeing her quite Karthik answered “I just came to meet aunty” he came nearer and whispered ” but if you don’t like I can leave”

Seeing her sad face he wanted to hug her, but not Infront of her mother

He talked to her mother for some more time, all the while his mother was attentively listening to him and laughing at his PJ’s

“Aunty it was great meeting you, but I need to leave now ”

“Ok , but keep visiting damadaji” she whispered the last part

“What” both Karthik and Shefali said together

“I just asked him to keep visiting, now both of you get out, I want to rest” she said and closed her eyes

They both walked out

“Thanks for keeping my mom company, she was happy after a long time” Shefali said

“So, you have no problem with me coming to see your mother” Karthik asked her

“I missed you Karthik” she said looking straight at him

Karthik blushed “Aur main socha raha tha Karthik ka jaadu kaise nahi chala”

“Shayad jaadu ka mantra galat bola tumne Karthik” she smiles

He came near her “Toh ab sahi mantra bolta hoon, I missed you too” and they hug each other.

Tears roll down Shefali eyes, he had come back, knowing everything about her, he still stuck with her. She was in love with him, and she would never let him go

Karthik smiles, I will support you Shefali and never leave you alone. I will prove to you that there are good men in this world.

Ahaan was anxious the whole night after Ishqi told him about his mother.  Her words kept ringing in his head. She said that every story has two sides. Did his mother have any reason to leave them. But no reason could separate a child from his mother, until she wanted it. Yes, his mother had left him and now he didn’t need her. He tossed and turned and finally slept

The next morning, they were having breakfast when the doorbell rang. Ahaan opened the door to see Ishqi there. Somewhere he felt she should not be meeting his mother, a negative feeling was taking place in his heart, the hatred he had for his mother was overpowering his love for Isqhi.

She smiled at him and came inside.

“What are you doing here so early in the morning” he asked her

“Ye kya baat hui, ab kya appointment leni padegi apne sasural aane ki” she asked him “Its you only who called me”

He was surprised and Isqhi saw it too.

“You didn’t call me, then Karthik said .. “ she looked around to see if Karthik e “Teri toh main aaj band bajungi Karthik ke bacche”

“Surprise ….” Everyone shouts

Isqhaan look behind, to see all their family members together.

“Ap logon toh main bachpan se dekte aa raha hu, usme kya surprise hain “ Ahaan says and Isqhi hits him.

“The surprise is not us, its this” and chachi shows a box to them

“And this” Maasi shows a box too

“In buddhu logon ko nahi samaj aayega maasi and maa.. main batata hoon” Karthik says “These are your engagement rings… we planned that your engagement would happen today”

Isqhi hugs Ahaan “Wow what a surprise”

Sonu gives Ishqi her dress and Karthik gives Ahaan his Sherwani. And they both go to get ready.

Dadi calls the person” Today is their engagement, you know what to do right”

“the work will be done” Comes the answer from the other side
