Bushra Shaikh reflects on career setbacks and finding redemption in Jyoti… Umeedon Se Sajee

Bushra Shaikh, known for her roles in both fiction and non-fiction shows like Naagin 6, Bekaaboo, and Swayamvar: Mika Di Vohti, has recently joined the cast of Jyoti… Umeedon Se Sajee, portraying the role of an antagonist. The actress talked about her new character in a recent interview and shared, “My track in the show is powerful, and the character will have shades of grey. I play Mallika, who is deeply in love with the male lead, who is set to marry someone else. I acquire magical powers and return to his life seeking revenge.”

Reflecting on her previous experience in Mika Di Vohti, Bushra reveals, “The makers of the reality show struggled to find participants and eventually started approaching models and actors. They offered me a good remuneration to participate, which was one of the main reasons I accepted the offer. Initially, the audience responded positively to my presence on the show. However, things took a negative turn when they started projecting me in a different light simply because I was outspoken and forthright. There was a lot of politics involved. Towards the end of the show, they brought Akanksha Puri on board, which was unfair to the rest of us. It felt like a betrayal and humiliation. It became evident that she was brought in to secure a victory. Although I sensed pretense during my interactions with Akanksha, I don’t hold any grudges against her as she was always kind to me.”

Unfortunately, instead of providing the career boost she had hoped for, Bushra confesses that Mika Di Vohti had an adverse effect. She laments, “My career took a hit after participating in the show. In fact, the offers dried up once it ended. It seems that the show was not fortunate for me, and I regret being a part of it. I had to rebuild my career from scratch. However, I am grateful that everything has fallen into place eventually, and I am now entering a positive phase in my professional life.”

Despite her less-than-pleasant experience in the non-fiction genre, Bushra remains open to exploring reality shows in the future. She expresses her desire to be a part of Bigg Boss, explaining, “I would like to participate in Bigg Boss because I want the world to see the real Bushra. It would also give me the opportunity to meet Salman Khan, who is the love of my life (laughs!).”
